"What do you an?" Lin Xiaofei didn't expect him to only have one person.
What's more, she didn't think that he would co to her without the list. She clearly told the waiter that she needed Qu Xing Xu to bring the list to her so she could be reassured that she could choose one man among the lists of nas that he will bring to her.
At least, with a list, if she recognizes so of them, she could easily take them out of her choices and investigate the remaining if they have a bad record.
Naturally, Lin Xiaofei didn't want to marry just anybody without checking the other person's background. If they were sohow connected to Yu Fangzhu, she needed to get rid of them from her choices since she didn't want to be involved with him again. It would only bring bad luck to her if she ended up marrying a man that has so connections with Yu Fangzhu.
Besides, she planned to start with the head of the spider so that the body would fall along with it. Marrying anyone involved with the royal family would only endanger her as they are the legs of the royal family and when she crushes the head, there will be no guarantee that she won't be implicated along with it.
"Apparently, it looks like you're in a hurry to marry.. But I was busy with so other things and when I heard that you ca looking for , I rushed here and didn't manage to bring the list with ." He lied in so parts of his statent. He also stealthily corrected his words so that she won't beco suspicious of him.
"So, you do have a list." As expected, Lin Xiaofei sighed in relief. She was happy that Qu Xing Xu managed to make a list, "Then, can you bring it to later?"
Qu Xing Xu was displeased when he saw the way Lin Xiaofei was relieved to hear that he has a list of nas for her to pick.
He clenched his fist and pulled the corners of his lips upward. Thankfully, there was no list in reality because if there was, who knew how he would take care of it so she won't see it.
He would probably personally kill the n in the list and torture the man whoever Lin Xiaofei ended up choosing. No, scratch that. He will make sure that no other man could marry her in this lifeti.
Qu Xing Xu stood up from his chair. He walked to her and said, "I have sothing other matters to take care of later. So, I can't promise that I'll be able to present it to you."
"Then, you can bring it tomorrow." Said Lin Xiaofei who raised her eyes to watch him walk to her.
"Unfortunately, I also can't co tomorrow." He lied without changing his expression.
Lin Xiaofei looked at him in disbelief. She closed her eyes to calm herself. She was in a hurry right now and she can't afford to lose more ti to look for a man to marry. She wasted a lot of ti waiting and looking for this man for three consecutive days.
If only she could marry anyone, she would do it in a heartbeat but sadly, she had several things to consider. Lin Xiaong was also a problem since he absolutely wouldn't let her marry just anybody. He would probably stop the marriage from happening if she dared to pick a beggar or a commoner to marry.
"It's no problem." She said as she stood up when she saw that he was getting closer to her. "I can just co to Hong Pei Lou once again. I hope you can leave the list to the waiter so I can get it tomorrow."
Since Qu Xing Xu said that he won't be able to give it to her tomorrow, it seems that she has to take a trip to Hong Pei Lou once again.
For as long as she could get the list and review it, she could wait for another day. Lin Xiaofei was sure that Emperor wouldn't instantly agree with this union as he would contemplate first and think of the pros and cons of this union.
Even if the Empress and Prince Jing were to rush the marriage and decree it, they would need to wait for a few days to a week before the decree could be issued since the emperor has a lot of things to think first.
The emperor would be too busy to ease the tension between the Zheng empire and the Chu empire that he wouldn't even glance at the selfish request of the empress who wanted to safeguard her son who committed a cri in broad daylight and during the festival.
As Lin Xiaofei thought that this conversation was done and Qu Xing Xu would leave, he, however, didn't leave.
He continued to stand close to her that it made her feel that she was trapped in his embrace just by looking at how intense he was looking at her.
Qu Xing Xu didn't like that she was trying to get away from him and so, he stepped closer to her and said, "Actually, you don't need to go there. I think I rember a few nas of the males in the list."
Lin Xiaofei raised her eyebrows, "You do?"
"Yes."
"And who are they?" She asked him and poured herself a tea.
She was about to take a sip when he said without batting his eyes, "Manager Liu and the Duke of Xin."
Almost instantly as his words landed, Lin Xiaofei almost spurt out the tea that got into her mouth. She coughed and covered her mouth while glaring at him.
Qu Xing Xu only smiled at her. He didn't seem to be ashad of offering himself to her as a candidate to beco her husband. And it seems that he was pretending to not know who these 'Manager Liu and The Duke of Xin' are.
He raised his hand and gently patted her back as if he was helping her after almost choking herself with water.
"Now, drink slowly. We can't have you choking in your own tea and not attend the wedding." Said Qu Xing Xu. He was totally enjoying ssing with her pace and seeing her cold facade breaking.
She swatted his hand away like it was a mosquito, Lin Xiaofei almost scread in irritation and hissed, "I'm not playing here! As you've said, I'm in a hurry so I don't want you to ss with and just leave!"
"But I'm not playing." Qu Xing Xu looked pitifully at his hand that she swatted away and took it back. He saw her scoffing when he said this. She was completely not buying his words.
He was slightly angered by her reaction since she seed to not buy his words but again, who would anyway? Even Qu Xing Xu, himself, was quite shocked that he would offer himself to this girl.
The thought of marriage never crossed his mind. He didn't even have this kind of intention towards Lin Xiaofei as he initially only wanted to keep close to her so he could watch her. However, whenever he thought that this young woman before him would marry soone else, he would feel an ire coming up his heart that he felt that he would lose his mind and kill soone just seeing her with soone else.
Ever since he reached a certain age that he was able to marry, his aides would always remind him to find a lady to marry. It doesn't matter whether he would take a woman as his legal wife or concubine, for as long as Qu Xing Xu got married to soone and have a family.
Actually, Qu Xing Xu didn't have to look far and wide to get himself a wife. He already knew that with his good-looking face and noble blood and status, any woman would willingly volunteer to beco his wife.
However, Lin Xiaofei looked like she will not agree to him without a fight.
After spending so ti with her and watching her from afar, he could tell that she wasn't as simple as what the rumors that circulated around her.
The way she tried to fan the fire and make trouble with the royal family while watching their masks breaking in front of everyone seed to amused her greatly. And it seems that she can't wait to tear their faces off and bleed them until there was no blood in their body.
Such a venomous woman was indeed worthy of his attention.
So, how must he go with this so that she would agree to marry him?
Suddenly, an idea shot through his mind. Qu Xing Xu hid his wicked heart and smiled brightly at her, "We're currently partners in cri and have the sa enemies. We're not tied to anyone nor do we love each other. Don't you think it is best for us to marry?"
