Anna Thornton returned to the hospital room to find Pop already asleep, but Mary was still waiting for her.
Upon hearing footsteps outside the door, Mary imdiately got up to open it, feeling relieved only when she saw Anna return.
"Anna, are you okay? President Sterling told you didn’t go to the restaurant for the date and disappeared halfway, which scared a lot. I couldn’t leave here because I was taking care of little Pop, so I kept calling you, but no one answered."
When the phone was ntioned, Anna rembered to search herself: "Oh no, I didn’t get my phone back; it’s still with Finn Grant."
Anna had been aning to retrieve her phone, but later on she had been interrupted by Conrad Sterling and forgot about it.
"Finn Grant? Who’s that?"
"He’s the one who kidnapped halfway; he almost tried to send to Henry Willow’s bed."
"What?!!"
Mary had already been scared enough today, but she hadn’t expected Anna’s personal experience to be even more fantastical than she imagined.
If it weren’t for the fact that Pop was sleeping soundly and Anna was exhausted, Mary would have urged her to tell the story properly.
Given the circumstances, she could only ask the most important question: "Did anything unpleasant happen?"
"Yes!"
"Huh?"
"I missed my date with Conrad Sterling, and he still proposes to Marilyn Ford; doesn’t that count as unpleasant?"
"Ugh! President Sterling is really an insensitive blockhead!"
Mary only dared to quietly complain about Conrad Sterling during such deep, quiet nights.
But as soon as she spoke, she imdiately felt guilty, wishing to disassociate herself from her words and quickly change the subject: "I’ll handle the phone issue for you. It hasn’t been easy for you today, so have a good night’s sleep and recharge, don’t dwell on unpleasant things."
Mary truly felt sorry for Anna; for the sake of staying with Pop, she’d been living in the hospital all this ti, and the mother and daughter had practically turned the ward into their ho.
Is this the kind of treatnt a female celebrity should have?
Why is it that those who truly deserve love have none, while those lacking nothing have an abundance of admirers?
"When will heaven grant Anna a prince charming? I am willing to eat vegetarian for a week," Mary wished silently.
That night, Anna Thornton slept straight until the afternoon of the next day.
Mary had explained to Pop that because mom was too tired yesterday and returned very late, Pop behaved and didn’t disturb her.
Anna opened her eyes to see her little darling beside her, munching on a pacifier while watching cartoons without sound, entertained nonetheless.
She kissed Pop’s round little cheek and turned to continue sleeping.
The children’s ward, specially decorated to be cozy, was filled with a soothing sense of tranquility.
However, Anna was unaware that because of her offhand comnt, the largest entertainnt club in Aethelgard was facing its ’tribulation.’
"Young Master Grant, we really don’t have anyone nad ’Mary’ here. Could you be..." mistaken?
The last three words dared not be spoken, leaving the Alice Club manager silenced by Finn Grant’s fierce and terrifying gaze.
The entire Aethelgard service industry knew that this young master of the Grant Family was famously difficult to please.
But Finn Grant was also known for his strange temperant, especially avoiding such social engagents in these lively venues.
Who would have thought one day he’d co personally, asking for a beauty nad ’Mary’ by na?
Sadly, among their staff were Julie, Jessie, Ruth... but no Mary!
"Conrad Sterling often cos here, doesn’t he? Then bring out all the won he’s pointed out," Finn Grant was determined to believe he could find a woman if he wanted to.
"This Young Master Grant... President Sterling has never been to our place."
"You better think carefully before you speak; there’ll be consequences for lying to ," Finn Grant threatened, "I know you have confidentiality agreents with your VIPs, but that nonsense might work to fool Marilyn Ford."
Finn Grant didn’t believe that the man with the surna Sterling was as wholly devoted to the Ford family’s heiress as he appeared, a perfect gentleman not given to dalliances.
It’s said only won can judge other won accurately, but n can equally insight each other’s true character in an instant.
The Alice Club manager wiped the sweat from his forehead, carefully saying, "Young Master Grant, I’m not afraid to tell you the truth; President Sterling only cos for business socializing. When clients seek pleasure, he usually leaves early; he’s never asked for services, and even if he did, it’s not from our place."
"Besides, the people you brought have already turned the club upside down." The manager’s eyes filled with distress as he looked over the club, which had been turned into a ss in an instant. Taking a deep breath, he continued, "There really isn’t such a person!"
Seeing as he seed sincere, Finn Grant reckoned he wouldn’t dare lie to him.
So, could it be that the woman hadn’t been truthful?
Finn Grant thought of this, and a smile crept onto his lips: "She actually dares to deceive ? Hahaha... excellent!"
The club manager was horrified by his laughter, never seeing soone so pleased to have been deceived.
Could it be as the gossip suggested that the elder young master of the Grant Family had finally gone completely insane?
Even as he walked out of the club, Finn Grant’s face still carried that strange smile.
Even his bodyguard couldn’t help but ask, "Young Master Grant, the clues to the woman you’re seeking have broken off, should we mobilize all resources to search?"
"No need for such trouble."
Finn Grant said, pulling out a phone with a small yellow duck case from his pocket, skillfully playing with it in his hand, "I’ll wait for her to co find ."
...
"Anna, I can dial through to your phone, but no one picks up. I’ve been calling all day; did that person throw it away?"
"No way! If it were discarded, it would’ve run out of battery by now. If soone picked it up, they’d either imdiately turn it off and remove the SIM card, or reply if they wanted money," Anna analyzed, "So it’s still in that person’s possession! He’s purposely not answering to make us anxious."
"To make us anxious, and then what? So he can extort more money?"
"The Grant Family doesn’t lack money; probably... I guess he found out I lied and is retaliating," Anna speculated, "Never mind, don’t call anymore; I don’t want that phone. I’ve used it for many years; it’s ti for a new one anyway."
The only regret is that it contained the numbers of so important contacts.
In the entertainnt industry, networking is crucial, but fortunately, in modern society with advanced communication, even if phone numbers are lost, there are always other ans of contact.
Mary listened to Anna, stopping the calls.
Unexpectedly, that very night, Finn Grant called back.
Mary didn’t notice and saw an unfamiliar caller thinking it might be a collaboration invitation, thus answered imdiately: "Hello?"
"I’m looking for Mary."
"That’s !"
"You’re not her; have that woman answer the phone."
What on earth is this?
Mary was confused but instinctively looked at Anna Thornton: "Seems like it’s for you."
Anna Thornton was feeding Pop; she held a small bowl and spoon in one hand while taking the phone Mary handed her with the other.
"Hello? Who’s looking for ?"
"I’m Finn Grant!"
"Uh-huh."
