It seed that I could no longer hold in the anger that was burning deep inside of , and I had to speak up for my friend. Clearly, Selena was too scared to speak up for herself or to do anything that would further anger Prince Darius; however, I just couldn’t let this slide. The way he acted was too insensitive and uncaring and it also made feel like he was trying to put the bla on Selena.

“Pregnancies like these co with risks of their own and that is why it isn’t unbelievable or completely unexpected that she might lose the child due to incompatibility issues and other complications,” Prince Darius replied matter-of-factly.

I knew that his answer wasn’t strictly incorrect but it wasn’t the answer that I was looking for.

“Please don’t say things like that, can’t you see how much Selena is suffering already?” I asked accusingly.

“I can see that she is sad, but I also know that she will get over it with ti,” Prince Darius replied smoothly before he turned to look down at Selena.

Selena looked like she was ready to burst out crying at any mont and that only made feel worse. I could tell that Jessie was also boiling with anger, but she was in no position to lecture the prince. Honestly, I wasn’t in any position to lecture Prince Darius either but I couldn’t let his inappropriate behavior go.

“Let’s have a word outside, shall we? Selena should be resting right now so we shouldn’t disturb her for any longer than this,” Prince Leonard suggested.

I was slightly surprised that Prince Leonard had jumped in, but I had to admit that his idea was better than mine. By that ti I was so consud with anger that I was about to face Prince Darius straight on right in front of Selena while forgetting that she should be resting and that she was already in enough emotional distress as it was. I nodded my head in agreent before the three of us left the room, leaving Jessie to keep Selena company.

“Why do you have to be so insensitive? Can’t you see just how much she is suffering?” I threw my accusations at Prince Darius the mont that we had found a room where we could converse in private.

“I can tell that she is saddened by the news, but as I ntioned, she will get over it soon,” Prince Darius replied emotionlessly.

“Can’t you tell that the person that she wants support from the most right now is you? Why can’t you just comfort her?” I asked while feeling quite shocked at how cold the prince was.

Although I had suspected it beforehand, I still didn’t want to believe that Prince Darius didn’t feel any love for my friend. It frustrated even more because I knew that Selena was deeply in love with the prince.

“If that’s what you want to do, I can do it without a problem,” Prince Darius replied as if he honestly thought that was the solution to the problem that I had presented.

“I guess you truly don’t care for her. Even if that is the case, aren’t you sad that she lost your baby?” I asked as I refused to back down until he saw that this was also his fault or that he was sohow involved.

His completely detached attitude as if he was dealing with sothing that wasn’t at all related to him made feel sick to the stomach.

“You are such a caring lady. I appreciate the care that you feel for your friend and that you are worrying for us. However, you should already know that this isn’t a rare occurrence. This isn’t the first ti that one of my lovers got pregnant and then lost the baby,” Prince Darius explained passively.

“Just because it has happened before, does that an that you don’t feel saddened by it anymore?” I asked in pure disbelief.

“I’m not saying that I’m not affected by this unfortunate news, but I also don’t feel like it is the end of the world. You should not expect to have an emotional breakdown every ti that one of my won experiences a miscarriage. If you think that this is the worst that can happen, you are very wrong. Selena is still healthy and well despite losing her child, and for , that is more than I could have hoped for,” Prince Darius explained without any emotions.

It was probably because I could tell that his words were genuinely truthful that I was stunned speechless.

“So of my lovers have died before in the past during their pregnancies or even during labor along with the babies. We should consider Selena lucky that that didn’t beco her fate,” Prince Darius wrapped up his explanation.

I had no idea that Prince Darius had been through so much. I felt even more shocked than before at his solemn reminder that I could have really lost my friend forever. It was even more shocking to learn that the prince had lost past lovers before from past pregnancies. I couldn’t even begin to imagine all the pain that he must have gone through. It must have been tough to experience that the first few tis around, but it seems that the prince had gotten used to it, or at least he appeared quite unaffected on the surface.

“What is going to happen to Selena now?” I asked the first question that ca to mind after deciding to lay this issue down to rest.

The past couldn’t be changed, but I still hoped that there was sothing that I could do for my friend regarding her future. No one had told before about what lay ahead in waiting for won who failed to either conceive or deliver the princes’ babies.

“That’s sothing that the committee will decide,” Prince Darius replied coldly.

I wanted to ask if things were really over between him and Selena, but I couldn’t get the words out in fear that I might hear an answer that would be absolutely heartbreaking. Selena had just lost her child, so it would crush her if she were to lose the prince as well and in such a short period of ti. Her life seems to have been suddenly flipped upside down, and I was sure that no one was ntally strong enough to deal with sothing like this.
