The mating part...
Even though I didn’t have any experience on that front before I t Prince Leonard and beca his lover, I could tell that how we coupled wasn’t exactly normal by human standards. The moon cycle and the way the prince’s body would partially transform were definitely not normal as well. On top of that, the way that our mind could connect and communicate with each other after our bodies were connected still felt like sothing unrealistic and unbelievable.
After experiencing it firsthand myself on multiple occasions, there was no way that I could deny that it was indeed true. I nodded my head in agreent with the duchess’s words. It was different and it could be rough at tis especially for my body to take but it wasn’t sothing that was unmanageable.
At least not yet...
“I see...” I murmured before waiting for her to go on.
“Being an alpha’s lover surely brings about so complications, but you should never forget that dating soone from the core royal family brings about another set of complications as well. Then again, there aren’t any Ultimate Alphas that are not part of the royal family. As you can see in my situation, I’m not the King’s official wife and I’m also not his only lover,” the duchess said before smiling at like it wasn’t sothing that bothered her.
I had always wondered how that worked out for her and the king and his other lovers. The king had a queen before and that was Prince Leonard’s mother although she had passed away a long ti ago according to what the prince told . Then there’s Prince Darius’s mother and the beautiful duchess that is talking to right now. Even I could see that things must have been complicated between them and I could sense that things must still be complicated between them now. I didn’t quite know what to say or comnt so I just decided to remain silent as I waited for the duchess to continue with her story.
“I know that look. You probably think that this is all so ssy and how could anyone bear with sothing like this, right?” she asked knowingly before letting out a sweet laugh.
If her complex relationship with the king bothered her in any way, she did not show it at all. If anything, the duchess seed very at peace with herself and her situation as if she had already accepted and gotten used to everything. Prince Leonard’s words about how the duchess seed to always get her way ca back to and that made even more curious about her relationship with the king.
“You seem...very fine with it...” I mumbled my honest opinion.
“I am fine with it. I guess when I was younger, I didn’t quite understand why things had to be this way, but I soon got used to it. It’s not a bad life at all...” she said before showing a smile without any regrets.
“I see...” I whispered.
“Everything got simpler to when I realized that I shouldn’t beco too greedy. Don’t get wrong, it’s not easy to accept the fact that you’re not your lover’s first and definitely not his only lover. When I realized that I can never have the king all to myself, I guess I felt satisfied enough to have a part of him,” the duchess said with a wistful look on her face.
She paused for a mont as if gathering her thoughts. During that ti, I wondered what Prince Leonard thought about the fact that his father has three wives. It didn’t take long for to realize what I truly wondered about. It seed like the norm or the tradition here, but does the prince intend to have many lovers and wives as well?
“Unlike the other duchess, I don’t want to get involved in this country’s politics. I also know that the king does not intend to remarry, and the formal seat of queen will be empty until the new queen is crowned along with the next king. Well, I guess the other duchess is still pushing her luck after all this ti,” the duchess said before letting out a laugh.
I knew that she was referring to Prince Darius’s mother when she referred to the other duchess. Unlike Duchess Flavia, it seed like the other duchess still had ambitions of becoming a queen. I recalled seeing the duchess by the king’s side and that made wonder why Duchess Flavia did not mind keeping a distance from the king. At the sa ti, I began to wonder why she was telling these things although it was who asked about her relationship with the king in the first place.
“Umm...why does the king have many wives?” I asked before I could stop myself.
“That’s not a bad question. Let’s see...” the duchess said before she paused to make a thoughtful face.
I watched as she seed to gather her thoughts before she flashed a smile. Her eyes looked bright, and I appreciated just how open she was to talk to about these things.
“I’m actually not sure but if I had to guess then I would say that it’s a mix of his own desires as well as his responsibility,” she said before nodding her head a little.
“I’m sorry but I’m not quite sure that I follow,” I admitted softly.
“Well, I never asked the king this so this is simply my best guess from my observations. Luckily for the three of us, the king loves his wives and that is why I believe that part of the reason why he had three wives was because he wanted to. He married the queen that he loved while at the sa ti he fathered a child with his lover. Then there’s , I ca last of course...” she said explained before taking a pause.
Although the duchess’s explanation was simple and quite clear, I wasn’t sure that I understood her.
