Andria’s POV
I walked into the detention room, hoping to et the old Luna Hestrea, who was in charge of dishing out punishnt to students who were detained.
But to my dismay, I t Sir Kaelric there. What a bad day.
Athena didn’t understand my predicant; she was humming with excitent.
"Aria, what brings you to the detention room? Causing problems again?" Sir Kaelric asked without lifting his eyes from the book he was reading.
I couldn’t help but wonder if I was actually becoming a nuisance in Ashwood Academy now.
There’s not a day that goes by without drama involving .
"I was being distracted and I dared to speak up, that’s all," I answered him, not wanting to move from my position close to the door.
"You have to co in and take your seat in one of the seats reserved for students in detention like you," he said, pointing to the seat close to him.
As if I would sit down there, when there are other seats not as close to him as that one.
I took one seat, farthest from him. His presence reminded of our last encounter, and I felt that if I ca closer, we would finish what we started.
Or I might just end up torturing myself.
His scent was overwhelming even from a distance, and I couldn’t ignore the way his aura was getting too overpowering.
My wolf was powerfully drawn to his, thereby weakening my defenses.
"That wasn’t the report Luna Caroline submitted here, let’s see what she said was your offence," he said, smirking at .
"Disturbing the class and not having an idea of what was being taught. You were actually causing problems," Sir Kaelric insisted.
But sothing made believe that he knew what actually brought here; he reads minds after all.
"The thing is that I wonder why you had to be the scapegoat," he continued, his smirk widening.
Sothing about how he spoke and the way his lips always twisted in a cruel-looking smirk brought a sharp jolt to my core.
"Hmm, that scent again, you sure know how to turn on, Ari," Sir Kaelric said, getting up from his seat.
No, not here, not where I was sent in for punishnt, another erring student could badge in on us.
I got up from my seat, ready to keep stepping out of his way until the day was done.
"You know that we can do this all day for three days when your detention sentence will end," Sir Kaelric uttered amidst a sadistic chuckle.
"I found out that you were the reason behind the fus in the chemistry lab, and now you are in the detention room. How notorious," he remarked, the lips still curled up in a smirk.
Three days were a lot of days to constantly face this feromonal torture triggered by Kael.
Maybe I should pray harder to the moon goddess to change the detention teacher.
"Unluckily for you, your detention teacher won’t be coming to school for now, so you are stuck with ," he blurted as if he had read my mind, which I didn’t doubt that he did.
He took two steps closer, and I took three steps backwards, trying to make sure I was not about to be backed against the wall.
"I told you the last ti that we would et again, and of course, as you can see, it’s inescapable," he gloated arrogantly, and even though his words were giving tingly feelings, I had to set things straight with him.
"This is just a re coincidence, besides, I’m not going to let what happened the last ti happen this ti," I retorted.
He let out a loud laugh that vibrated from his chest. "A re coincidence, that might be true. But how do you guarantee that what happened the last ti would not happen this ti, when I can perceive your heart scent all over the room already?"
He took a step forward again, and my heart beat flared erratically.
"You can’t even control your heartbeat whenever I step closer, Miss warrior princess," he teased.
"But you see, I’m impressed with the stunt you pulled in the chemistry lab to break the spell, but you know that was risky, and could have killed many low-ranking wolves," he stated, diverting the topic and moving back to his seat.
I breathed a sigh of relief and returned to my seat.
"Don’t worry, not today, I’ve had my feelings of your scent and reactions already," he chuckled.
"I’ve heard about what my stunt could have caused, but the fact remains that no one was severely hard.
But if I didn’t do that, many would have been actually hard by the vampires, and a war could have easily broken out. I had no other choice," I answered him, ignoring the devilish smile he wore.
"Well, that was a witty coback, but the fact remains that there was another way, but you chose the way that was easier for you, because you are avoiding using any of your mate’s influence.
That’s a remarkable thought, but that’s just hilarious to . I’m your mate, the moon goddess already made you mine, learn to accept it," he stated, the smirk disappearing in an instant from his face.
The room felt tense imdiately, his face and countenance turning cold and calculating.
And I felt the sincerity in his words; he wasn’t joking about how he feels about , but I still didn’t know how to accept it.
He was a Dravari, and I was a Lunara-blooded wolf who was also a vampire.
Everything that I am made either his prey or his archenemy, not his mate.
And all my survival and rational instincts scream at is ’run’.
"You are Dravari and I’m half vampire, half Lunara-blooded she wolf," I started in a low but firm tone, "We will always be predator and prey, hero and villain."
There was a long silence, and he took his eyes off for a while, causing to take my eyes off him too.
But suddenly, he was at my side, with the speed that only belonged to the vampires.
