Then, with a smile, he added, "I can also catch more mutants for winter. That way, our at supply won’t run out—even if more people join us."
deia only responded with a simple hum. Since Lucian knew about the system and her missions, he insisted on helping her and making sure she didn’t curse too much.
Now, she felt like she had two systems. One was a jerk, and the other was an angel.
[The system must be the angel one!]
deia hissed at its shaless response.
The system even forced her to sew every day, making sure she finished the blanket before the first snowfall—whenever that might be.
If Lucian hadn’t spoiled her with delicious food and massages, she probably would have torn the blanket to shreds and thrown herself off a cliff.
How could soone with paper-thin patience be expected to sew from scratch?
Her fingers had been pricked by needles countless tis, making Lucian suspicious that she was hurting herself.
He didn’t know about the blanket yet, since deia worked on it in another tent and strictly forbade him from entering.
Her secretive behavior made Lucian suspect she was doing sothing dangerous alone, and she had to convince him that it was harmless.
The system never forbade her from telling him about the blanket, but deia wanted it to be a surprise—not just any gift, but a Christmas gift.
Yes, it might sound ridiculous for a demon to celebrate God’s birthday, but co on—she just wanted to experience a Christmas date like in the novels she had read.
"Well, we still have the ergency food stash underground anyway," deia finally spoke. "We can use it if things get really bad."
She had only told the doctors and hunters that she found dicine in the Black Zone Forest, but she never ntioned the anti-mutant serum or the ergency food supply.
Why?
For the anti-mutant serum, it was obvious—deia didn’t want to cause unnecessary chaos.
As for the ergency food, it was too valuable to share with everyone. Besides, she had already provided them with high-quality hunting gear, good crops, and canned food supplies from Warstock Base.
If they still expected more, they would just be ungrateful.
As long as there was no food crisis, they had no reason to touch her private stash.
However, if things ever took a turn for the worse, deia would graciously step in as a saint, distributing the ergency food like a benevolent savior.
What a perfect plan.
"For the holess, they often hide in abandoned cities or sewers to survive the winter."
Lucian said, "There aren’t many monsters or the Lost roaming around during winter, but the cold is so brutal that a person can freeze to death if they stay outside too long."
That’s why the human population kept shrinking. During winter, people didn’t just struggle to find food—they also had to fight against the freezing temperatures.
Babies and children wouldn’t survive, and the elderly often chose to dig their own graves before winter even arrived.
deia had no idea how harsh this year’s winter would be, but since the system had given her this mission, she knew it would be bad enough to claim many lives.
"What about you?" deia leaned closer to him. "Where did you and Bear usually stay during winter?"
Lucian smiled and gently stroked her hair. "Since Bear and I are strong, we usually just build an igloo or stay in abandoned houses."
Bear’s thick fur was a lifesaver in winter. Lucian would sleep beside him, letting his fur keep him warm.
"Well, this year, you won’t need to build an igloo." deia climbed onto his lap. "You can sleep in a real bed, under a nice, warm blanket." She leaned in, teasing him with a playful smirk. "Right next to your pretty girlfriend."
[Host, do you even realize the temperature is dropping these days?]
deia clicked her tongue and clenched her fists as the system once again interrupted their intimate mont.
Lucian had long learned that whenever her expression turned irritated, it ant she was talking to the system.
’What now?’ deia asked in her mind.
[The first snow might fall tomorrow ... or maybe even tonight.]
[Do you really want to fail your romance quest after spending two months making that blanket?]
That fucking blanket.
deia groaned. For the past two months, she had worked on it every single day, even skipping hunting trips with the others just to get it done.
She had manually woven mammoth fur into thread, then sewn it every morning and night. Yet sohow, that damn blanket was still unfinished.
[It’s unfinished because you only sew for three hours a day. The rest of the ti, you’re either reading novels or lounging around.]
’Am I not allowed to do anything besides work?’ deia snapped. ’You made teach 20 people and sew this stupid blanket. And now you dare to complain when I try to relax?’
deia jumped off the bed with a pout. "I have to work." She clicked her tongue. "Let’s hope I can finish this tonight, so we can making babies."
Lucian almost choked. "deia, we’re not planning on having a baby anyti soon." He rubbed his temples. "Please, don’t scare ."
deia gasped dramatically. "Oh? You like to fuck , but you won’t take responsibility if I get pregnant?" She pretended to wipe away tears. "You’re breaking my heart, honey."
At this point, Lucian was used to her antics. He sighed. "You know that’s not what I ant."
deia’s fake sadness instantly turned into a bright smile. "Of course, I know." She kissed his cheek before storming out of the room. "Alright, I have to go now!"
When deia entered her room, a thick brown blanket lay draped over the rocking chair.
Lucian had made that chair for her, saying it would be perfect for reading.
Well, he was right. That’s why deia spent more ti reading than actually sewing.
But tonight, she had to finish the blanket.
Most of it was already done—she only needed to sew a few remaining pieces together. However, after working on it for two months, she had grown bored and often dozed off mid-stitch.
[That’s just because you’re lazy, Host.]
[You need to focus!]
"Stop nagging like a grandma! I’ve never even had a grandma, but you’re making feel like I do!"
