Chapter 1019: Unexpected
“Hm?” Nie Zhulong’s brows furrowed slightly because when he met Max’s gaze, he felt a bit uneasy.
Just as he wanted to stop and ask who he was, heard one of his Blood Condensation Elders growl angrily, “He is that Bastard Gu Chen, Patriarch. Let me go kill him.”
Nie Zhulong’s expression darkened with murderous rage.
“You stay put. I’ll kill him myself.” He said and began walking toward Max with slow steps.
“You little bastard. How dare you—” He began but the next moment, his expression turned ugly because…
Swoosh!
Max ignored him pletely and suddenly rushed past him.
Furious, he turned on his heels and reached out to grab him but Max casually swung his hand. The next moment, his pupils constricted because his hand was easily slapped away.
‘Bone Tempering!’ He was shocked into disbelief, but he couldn’t remain dazed for long and hurriedly shouted at the Elders behind him who were moving to stop Max, “Watch out!”
Unfortunately, his warning came a second too late.
Bang! Crack!
Slap!
“Ahhh!”
Thud!
Max punched the first Elder in the chest and his ribs snapped under the force, then he slapped the second Elder, whose vision blanked out and she was sent staggering to the side before falling flat on the ground.
He then shoved the others out of his way and captured a man who had bloodstains on his robes.
Then he dragged him out of the crowd under the Blood Condensation Elders’ fearful gazes. After seeing how easily he dealt with the First Elder, the strongest among them except their patriarch, and the Second Elder, who they didn’t know whether she was still alive, they didn’t dare stop him, much less attack.
Nie Zhulong also stayed put and just watched him with a dark look on his face.
Swoosh!
Zhao Ziyan arrived and seeing her son was safe, she sighed in relief. Then she swept her gaze across Nie Zhulong and others, her expression turning cold.
“Patriarch Nie—” She opened her mouth, but Nie Zhulong ignored her and his family Elders’ confused gazes which were silently asking him why he was just standing there and not attacking Max. He fixed his eyes on him and asked, “You have reached the Bone Tempering realm?”
“What?!!” The Nie family’s people and the crowd that had entered the Gu Family estate after them exclaimed in shock.
…
“What?!” The Second and Third Elder, Gu Ruolan and a few other Elders in the Blood condensation realm had arrived just in time to hear Nie Zhulong’s words and they also mirrored everyone else’s expressions.
The only difference between them, the Nie family’s people and the crowd that came to watch the show was that unlike the latter, who became wary and afraid, the Gu family’s people became happy, excited and relieved after their initial shock.
…
As everyone awaited Max’s response with much anticipation, Max fixed looked at the man in his hand and asked, “You killed them?”
Nie Zhulong’s expression turned uglier upon being so blatantly ignored, but he still didn’t lose his mind in anger because the memory of their brief exchange was still fresh in his mind.
The man in Max’s hand trembled in fear under his gaze.
“I-I…” He stuttered, too afraid to admit but it was already more than enough for Max.
Crack!
He clenched his fingers and snapped his neck. The terrified look remained frozen on his face as Max released his grip on his neck and his dead body thudded to the ground.
Max then once again looked at Nie Family’s people and asked, “Who else was involved?”
While Nie Family’s people gnashed their teeth in hatred as they glared at him while also feeling a bit afraid, the onlookers stared at him in amazement.
In the distance, some people from the Song and Liu families watched this scene with grave looks on their faces.
They had e here to watch the Nie Family crippling the Gu family, but what they were witnessing was something they hadn’t expected at all.
…
“Enough!” Nie Zhulong shouted, not able to endure anymore.
“You are so angry just because we killed some lowly members of your family…” He said as he began walking toward Max, “You killed my son and two of our elders, who were on the verge of reaching the Blood Condensation realm. Imagine how angry we must be… How angry I must be!”
Max finally looked at him. The moment their eyes met, Nie Zhulong’s steps unconsciously slowed as he once again felt the same unease.
“What about it?” Max casually asked.
Nie Zhulong stared at him for a moment, then his gaze flicked to Zhao Ziyan standing beside him, staring at him like tigress waiting for the opportunity to lunge and tear her prey apart.
His eyes flickered before he shifted his gaze back to Max and said, “If you willingly take one of my strikes, no matter the oute, I’ll leave with harming even another blade of grass in this place.”
Boom!
His words were pletely unexpected to everyone including Max. While Max and most of the others in Blood Condensation didn’t overreact, the weaker members of the Nie family murmured in protest.
“Patriarch’s letting him go so easily? That’s unacceptable.”
The next instant, the First Elder, who was standing on his feet with someone’s support, shot them a glare and let out a low growl, “Shut up!”
Though dissatisfied, the Nie family members shut up, but the same wasn’t true for the crowd of onlookers. They were buzzing with discussion. Some were showing their disbelief, some had began to mock Nie Zhulong for being a cowardly man while the others, the smarter ones, were staring between Nie Zhulong, Max and the First and Second Elders with thoughtful looks on their faces.
“How humiliating!” A young Muscle Refinement man of Nie Family gnashed his jaws when he heard all these ments.
“If I knew Patriarch was going to act like this, I would have never e along.”
Several other young men and women nodded in agreement while the older ones sighed, already aware of the reason why Nie Zhulong, who was the angriest of them all, was practically letting go of the matter.
Max regarded Nie Zhulong for a moment, then he opened his mouth but right then, a cold grunt echoed from behind the crowd.
“Hmph! How can you forget this matter so easily, Brother Zhulong? He is a lawless person, a plete scourge. If you show mercy to him today, who knows how many people he will harm tomorrow. It’s best to eliminate him today for once and all and save all those innocent victims.”
The faces of Zhao Ziyan, Gu Ruolan and others of the Nie family fell when they heard this voice while the crowd looked over with curious and anticipatory looks on their faces.
“It’s the Liu and Song families.” Someone shouted and the crowd burst in another round of discussion.
Max’s expression didn’t even flicker, nor did he look over at the new arrivals. Instead, he continued looking at Nie Zhulong whose eyes were flickering with deep consideration.
Nie Zhulong noticed this and took a deep breath.
“I don’t want unrelated people to take advantage of my family. So we’ll settle this matter at a later date.”
Saying this, he turned around and ignoring the group of several people led by two strongly built middle aged men, he waved his hand at his family members and ordered, “Let’s go.”
The crowd was struck dumb.
The younger Nie family members were struck dumb and the same was true for Gu family elders and the newly arrived group.
Apologies for the late update!
