Capítulo 478: Chapter 257: Journey’s End (1.2k)_6

anwhile, the leaves of the Divine Tree moved without any wind, with silver light flowing through its canopy, casting mottled shadows that made this scene appear as if a divine miracle had descended.

“Thud, thud…”

A series of sounds of kneeling broke the silence.

Lynn looked in disbelief at the scene before him, with hundreds of demon clan girls kneeling down in unison, even though he hadn’t done anything. In fact, given his current physical state, he really couldn’t do much.

“What’s happening?” He looked confusedly towards Hillena, who was carrying him, only to find that she too had a puzzled expression.

On the entire street, only the young priest, standing with closed eyes, managed to remain on her feet, while all the other demon clan girls were prostrate on the ground. So were even so terrified that the stone slab beneath them had been soaked in so liquid, evidently losing control of their bodies in extre fear.

The air was filled with a strange atmosphere; the demon clan girls lowered their heads, completely avoiding eye contact with Lynn.

Seeing this bizarre scene, Hillena tensed her body, ready to react to any sudden incidents.

After a long silence, Lynn coughed twice to try to ease the tension.

Ten minutes later, Lynn sat inside a shabby stone house, cautiously eyeing the fluorescent green liquid in the earthen cup before him, while Hillena watched the demon clan little girl who had brought the beverage.

“Little sister, can you tell where this place is?”

Hillena asked softly. It’s true that she was more approachable than Ivyst, appearing very friendly once she set aside the airs of the Great Imperial Princess.

But unexpectedly, upon hearing this, the little girl cast a terrified glance at Lynn, babbling a string of urgent foreign words completely unintelligibly, and then scurried away.

As if she didn’t leave now, Lynn would eat her.

“What exactly did you do to them?”

Hillena looked helplessly at Lynn, then her gaze fell on the green liquid in the earthen cup: “It has a fresh grassy scent, seems okay.”

“But do you dare drink it?”

Lynn said gravely.

Both appeared very cautious, for in this world, just a slight lapse in vigilance could cost one their life.

At that mont, a pleasant voice ca from outside the door, speaking in clumsy human language that they could barely understand: “Honorable guests, the juice of the Divine Tree is our clan’s most precious gift, usually reserved for the most cherished guests, and even I rarely have the chance to taste it.”

The young priest then lifted the cloth curtain and entered; she appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen years old in human terms, with purple skin glowing faintly in the dim light and a horn on her forehead barely visible.

Although dressed simply, her manner exuded an air of dignity, indicating her esteed status in this city.

To Lynn’s surprise, the priest’s command of human language was quite good; at least, normal communication was possible.

This eased his mind, as difficulty in communication might lead to conflicts.

“My na is Lida, I’m the priest of this generation in Morol City.” The purple-skinned girl gently touched the Moonlight Pendant on her chest, “Since everyone trusts , so even call Priest Grandma.”

Lynn didn’t respond but pushed the earthen cup towards her: “Ladies first.”

Lida was clearly taken aback: “This drink is ant for honored guests.”

“Where we co from, ladies and children have priority rights.”

Lynn shrugged.

This statent made Lida slightly frown, then she said: “But in Morol City, this is considered sowhat impolite.”

Upon hearing this, Lynn chuckled: “No worries, I like drinking what pretty girls have drunk.”

But before he finished speaking, a sharp pain suddenly shot up from his waist—Hillena had sohow pinched a piece of his flesh.

At the sa ti, she expressionlessly picked up the earthen cup, took a sip, and then set it down: “If they wanted to poison us, they wouldn’t need to do it this way.”

“Besides, I’ve already tried for you.” Hillena exchanged a glance with Lynn, “It actually tastes pretty good, better than I expected.”

Lida then realized that Lynn’s reluctance was due to concern about poison, which made her cheeks flush purple with anger: “You guys are too much; we’re treating you as our most valued guests, even offering the juice of the Divine Tree. You know, most of our clan mbers can only taste it once in their lives, and if we had ill intentions, we would’ve asked the Divine Tree to eliminate you before you ever entered the city.”

Upon hearing this, Lynn sighed with a complicated expression. With things explained to this extent, he hesitated no longer, directly picking up the earthen cup.

Unexpectedly, the juice of the Divine Tree initially tasted refreshingly cool, but imdiately transford into an indescribable bitterness that made his entire face scrunch up.

He had never tasted anything so strange.

But soon, a warm flow spread from his stomach throughout his body, even the wound on his shoulder, corrupted by Demonic Qi, began to itch and heal, making him feel instantly rejuvenated.

In so ways, Lynn thought the effect of the Divine Tree Juice was entirely comparable to that of the Moonlight Original Liquid.

One might say the taste was odd, but the effect might be even better.

“Seems I overthought things. Although these people seed hostile to and Hillena when we first entered the city, it might just be an instinct for self-preservation.”
