Chapter 654: Collapse
TL: Rui88
“Mr. Denson, I’ve seen you before!”
In the reception room, the man who called himself a magician had been invited here and was under heavy surveillance.
Paul looked at the man, recalling the scene in the church of Totor Village not long ago.
To his left sat Cecil, and to his right sat Ladi. In front of the witch was a crystal ball.
Denson sat upright, having finally managed to suppress the excitent in his heart with great difficulty.
He once again carefully observed the young lord opposite him, who had been the target of his actions not long ago.
From his appearance, he was just an ordinary Aldan.
Paul said, “Perhaps you should explain your purpose in coming here?”
His lips moved a few tis, and Denson spoke.
“Count Grayman, are you a god?”
The reception room fell silent. No one had expected his first sentence to be this.
“Ha!” Paul let out a sneer that broke the silence. “That’s strange. Why would you say that?”
Denson glanced at the crystal ball in front of Ladi, which was glowing faintly, and said, “This beautiful lady is a spellcaster. It seems you already know my identity.”
“Then I will confess to you. I am a spellcaster who studies the spiritual domain. On that day in the church, I participated in the spying on your spiritual level as my ntor’s assistant.”
These words instantly reminded Paul of his strange experience that day…a large number of fragnts hidden deep in his mory suddenly flashed through his mind.
He instantly beca highly tense!
If the mage before him had seen enough, could he have already determined that he was a transmigrator from another world?
Almost subconsciously, he said in a near-threatening tone, “I hope you can keep a clear head.”
“Oh, of course!” Denson imdiately realized that Count Grayman did not seem to have let the people around him know too much.
So much so that a sense of pride arose in his heart…he might be the only one who knew his secret.
Perhaps for a fleeting mont there was a second person, and that was his ntor, Ordennel.
But only for that one instant, poor Master Ordennel.
“So… if possible… I would like to speak with you alone.”
He chose his words carefully and cautiously made his request.
Paul refused decisively, “I don’t want to be alone in a room with a wizard.”
“I swear, I will not take any hostile action against you. Perhaps this lady can prove that what I say is true.”
Paul looked at Ladi. At this mont, she was staring at the crystal ball in front of her and nodded gently, “He is indeed not lying. But to be on the safe side, it would be best to tie his hands and feet…if you really want to talk to him alone.”
A few minutes later, in a small room, only Paul and the tightly bound Denson remained.
“Are you a god?”
Denson asked his question again, but unlike before, his eyes were now filled with a fervent passion. This feeling was so intense, as if it would erupt into flas.
His bound body also trembled with excitent.
The mont the last person besides him and Paul left the room, he had imdiately beco like this.
“No!” Paul gave a short, negative answer.
“Then you must be a ssenger sent by the Lord of Light!” The fanaticism in the young mage’s eyes did not diminish in the slightest. “You must have been sent by the gods to the mortal world to change this world! Of course, perhaps you yourself have not realized this.”
Paul asked, “You mages still believe in the Lord of Light? Shouldn’t you be mortal enemies?”
Denson imdiately replied in alarm, “Lord ssenger, most of us oppose only the corrupt church and the prejudices of the world.”
Paul asked again, “What made you have such a ridiculous idea? What exactly happened in the church that day?”
“Oh, please forgive my offensive behavior at that ti, but it was precisely because of that cri that I ca to know of your great existence.”
Denson once again recalled the terror of that mont in the church and began to narrate it to Paul.
The mont the spell was cast, a surging torrent of information erupted. In the world of the mind, even the shock brought by a tsunami or a volcanic eruption could not compare to that phenonon. ntor Ordennel’s ntal barrier was undoubtedly very strong, but under the impact of this scale, it was like paper and was instantly torn down.
As an assistant, Denson did not directly face such terrifying power, but a small part that overflowed from his ntor’s sea of soul made Denson feel as if he had instantly fallen into a vast ocean. At that ti, he was like a leaf, tossed up and down by the stormy waves.
Denson understood very well why Master Ordennel had not woken up yet, because his sanity might have been completely annihilated by such a terrifying impact.
In fact, even Denson himself almost beca like Ordennel because he was suddenly exposed to a large amount of incomprehensible information.
A world of billions of people, giant cities that could accommodate tens of millions of people, terrifying weapons that could destroy giant cities from thousands of miles away, flying iron birds, high-speed iron boxes, giant buildings hundreds of ters high, instantaneous communication tools…
Denson could still withstand these kinds of images.
But when he ca into contact with more information, his worldview began to collapse.
The earth was really a sphere, the sun was countless tis larger than the earth…
Earth, the solar system, black holes, the Milky Way, the Local Supercluster, the Laniakea Supercluster… The grandeur and mystery of the universe were far beyond the limits of imagination, instantly plunging Denson into the difficult problem of doubting the aning of his own existence.
Fields, the speed of light, dinsions, quantum… concept after concept smashed into his increasingly fragile mind like teorites.
Mass-energy equivalence, Newton’s laws, the laws of thermodynamics… it turned out that his previous cognition was so shallow.
All kinds of amazing knowledge might be relatively easy for a child who was still in the stage of learning and exploration to accept, but Denson was already an adult with a sowhat fixed cognitive system in his mind. If he was given a buffer period to gradually co into contact with and understand it, it would be fine, but when a large amount of unheard-of knowledge poured in all at once and collided violently with the old cognitive system, it was very uncomfortable.
Especially because of the effect of the spell, Denson knew unequivocally that they were all correct…at least correct compared to his original set of cognitions, so the old worldview was instantly defeated.
All of the above was just the depth of the information.
As for the breadth of the information, it was even more terrifying.
Arica, 996, slacking off, computers, biology, code, The Elder Scrolls, Paradox Interactive, doujinshi, Hatano…
These chaotic and disordered things were the main body of the information torrent.
