Ding Long followed behind Ding Jinshi into her bedroom, then placed her luggage in the corner and strolled around the room as if he were at ho, smiling, "The room looks exactly the sa as when you left, and it’s very clean. While you were away, your aunt and the maid must have been cleaning it, expecting you’d co back."
Ding Jinshi felt a slight pang in her heart, "If it were ssy, at least I’d have a reason to get upset." She sighed, yet ironically, it was spotless without a speck of dust. She didn’t even have a place to vent her frustration. Just like Ding Long said, her stepmother never mistreated her, even though she had been abroad for years without coming ho. Her room in the Ding Family’s house was always kept ready and clean for her.
"I don’t even know how to bring up the topic of moving out with my dad!" Ding Jinshi pouted, "Hopefully, Dad will be busy tomorrow!"

By the ti they ca downstairs, the dining table was already set with hot dishes. Ding Jinshi’s stepmother warmly invited the two to sit down and eat. Yet, whether it was just Ding Jinshi overthinking or not, the warr her stepmother got, the more she felt like an outsider, like Ding Long, a guest in the house.
At the dining table, apart from Ding Father and Ding Long talking, the other two won were excessively quiet. Having eaten Western food for years abroad, the authentic hotown cuisine boosted Ding Jinshi’s appetite, so she ate more. Consequently, the two silent won didn’t create much awkwardness.
"Jinshi, you’ve lost quite a bit of weight after being away for a few years." Ding Father suddenly looked at Ding Jinshi and asked, "Was your study abroad very stressful?"
Ding Jinshi struggled for a long ti, not knowing what to say to her father, so she just responded, "It was alright."
Ding Father, being sensible, didn’t press the topic towards his less talkative daughter further, and continued discussing current affairs and politics with Ding Long. Inevitably, there was a hint of regret in his tone that Ding Long didn’t continue to stay in the military.

Ding Long was startled, not expecting Ding Father to speak so bluntly. He looked at Ding Jinshi with concern and a bit of nervousness.
