Ding Long’s pupils slightly contracted, “You want to stay at my place?”
Ding Jinshi was feeling irritable at the mont, so she didn’t notice anything unusual in Ding Long’s expression.
She put on a pitiful look and gazed at Ding Long, “Just for a few days, I won’t bother you for long!”
Ding Long laughed directly, “Sure.” This ti, his answer was straightforward. For him, having Ding Jinshi move in with him was sothing he welcod eagerly.
“There are two bedrooms, one for each of us. Stay as long as you want if you get used to it. If your workplace isn’t far, I can drop you off at work before heading to the office myself.” Ding Long’s lips curved slightly, “It also saves you from taking the bus.”
Ding Jinshi truly breathed a sigh of relief this ti. She smiled and nodded, “Great! Thank you in advance!” She was genuinely afraid that Ding Long would find it inconvenient, especially since he is a man and might want to bring won ho overnight, which would indeed be inconvenient if she were around.
However, just the thought of Ding Long bringing won ho overnight felt off to Ding Jinshi. She felt Ding Long probably wasn’t that kind of casual person; he didn’t seem like it at all.
Ding Jinshi hadn’t been ho for years. The last ti she returned, Ding Father wasn’t at ho, so it had been over four years since Ding Father last saw Ding Jinshi.
Ding Jinshi and Ding Long entered the house together, with Ding Long carrying Ding Jinshi’s luggage behind her, the two of them barely a couple of steps apart.
“Uncle Ding, Auntie Ding.” Ding Long greeted the two elders in the living room as he entered.
“You’re back!” Ding Father nodded. Although it was just a brief sentence, his tone was full of joy. While he was responding to Ding Long, his gaze was fixed on Ding Jinshi’s face as he spoke.
“Dad.” eting her father’s gaze, Ding Jinshi finally opened her mouth and called him plainly, without greeting her stepmother on the side.
“I’ll go check if the maid has finished cooking, you all sit down and make so tea.” Ding Jinshi’s stepmother smiled at Ding Long and then glanced at Ding Jinshi before heading to the kitchen, not showing too much displeasure on her face.
“Stop holding Jinshi’s things and take a seat.” Ding Father genuinely liked Ding Long. It wasn’t just because Ding Long was an outstanding soldier in the army, or a comndable man after retiring, but also his care for his daughter that made it impossible for Ding Father not to like Ding Long.
“I’ll take the things upstairs first.” Ding Jinshi always felt that after being away from ho for years, returning here didn’t bring a sense of belonging; it felt more like visiting.
“It’s heavy, let carry it up for you.” Ding Long sidestepped to avoid Ding Jinshi’s hand reaching for her luggage and then said to Ding Father, “Uncle, I’ll head upstairs first and co back down later to chat with you over tea.”
“Alright, go ahead.” Ding Father waved with a hearty smile, signaling the two to go upstairs.
Ding Jinshi motioned with her mouth for Ding Jinshi, standing still behind her, to follow him upstairs.
To the Ding Family, Ding Long was equally familiar. Upstairs, the second room on the left was Ding Jinshi’s bedroom. He stood at the door, signaling Ding Jinshi to open it.
“It shouldn’t be locked.” Ding Jinshi muttered and turned the doorknob, and sure enough, it wasn’t locked. With a twist, she opened the door and, walking in, saw the room that was exactly the sa as when she left. Ding Jinshi silently let out a long sigh.
