Ding Jinshi was suddenly called upon by the smiling driver, and sat in the car dumbfounded. After Ding Long got in the car, Ding Jinshi glanced at him with confusion in her eyes.

The driver, seemingly unaware of his mistake, kept talking as if chatting casually when Ding Long boarded, "Boss, isn’t the young lady not going back to M Country this ti? Now that your business is so big, she can stay and help you more."

"No." Ding Jinshi finally understood and quickly explained, "Uncle, Ding Long and I are not in the kind of relationship you think!"

"What? Not real siblings? Then cousins?" The driver muttered, "Well, then it would be awkward to work in the sa company, but I heard that you, my dear lady, are also well-educated and into research, so there’s no worry about good job prospects when you’re back."

"Uncle, must everyone surnad Ding be related to your boss?" Ding Jinshi was embarrassed, "Ding Long and I are not siblings, cousins, half-siblings, or any kind of relatives! We just happen to be friends with the sa surna! Friends with no familial ties for generations!"

The driver’s face flushed red, feeling a bit embarrassed, and he drove silently thereafter.

"Where are we going now?" Ding Jinshi finally breathed a sigh of relief when the driver stopped talking.

"Back to the compound," Ding Long replied, then looked at Ding Jinshi with a smile, "How long has it been since you’ve been back that you don’t even recognize the way ho to the compound?"

"Seriously, it’s only been a little over two years, but it seems like everything around has changed. I rember this place used to be a bunch of old wooden houses. I didn’t expect them to be demolished and turned into open grounds." Ding Jinshi silently sighed.

"Yeah, I heard the people living here said the feng shui was bad, always having issues. Later they consulted a feng shui master who said this place was unsuitable, so everyone demolished the houses and moved elsewhere," the driver uncle added, "I heard this from a relative; soone in their family used to live around here."

"I see~" Ding Jinshi nodded, paused, then looked at Ding Long gazing out the window, "I don’t want to stay at the compound."

Ding Long turned his head, "You just got back, your work isn’t settled yet, where else would you go if you don’t stay at the compound?"

"My dad is always busy with work outside, and the only ones at ho are my stepmom and the nanny. You expect to face her all the ti? Seeing her annoys , and I annoy her too. It’s awkward," Ding Jinshi pouted, "Don’t tell to try it out. This is not sothing that can be tried. She’s my stepmother, she’s taken my mom’s place at ho. I can’t and won’t accept her."

"But you can’t co back and not go ho at all, right? Your dad knew you were coming back today, so he made a special trip ho." Ding Long rubbed his brow, "Your mother passed away. Do you expect your dad to stay alone forever for her sake? You’ve been studying abroad, gradually growing up, and you’ll eventually get married and leave ho. Do you want your dad to always be alone?"

"I didn’t say that!" Ding Jinshi bit her lip, "But I just don’t like it, and there’s nothing I can do! I never said I wouldn’t go back."

Seeing Ding Long’s expression soften slightly, Ding Jinshi continued, "I’ll go back for one night, then I’ll move out. I expect to settle down with work soon. Before I get a dormitory at work, I’ll stay at your place temporarily! Your house is spacious enough for one person; you won’t mind having there, right?"
