Chapter 1301: Chapter 1306: Suitable Candidate

The attack was undeniably fierce, and the casualty rate was terrifyingly high. But what was most surprising was that the ISIS soldiers were indeed unafraid of death.

They truly were unafraid, whether or not they realized that they were just cannon fodder, whose role was rely to deplete so of the enemy’s ammunition, and perhaps cause so damage to the enemy along the way.

Anton felt like he had already seen through the Viper’s intentions.

With casualty rates exceeding thirty percent, finally, those fearless soldiers who threw grenades at the great mosque slowed down. The pace of their attack decreased, and soon it completely stopped. By then, the bodies had already piled up in all the areas covered by the firepower inside the main hall.

In the Middle East, generally speaking, when the casualty rate exceeds ten percent, the battle cannot go on. So this assault at least proved one thing: that these cannon fodder truly served their purpose.

If this intensity of attacks is maintained, Satan can hold out for a long ti, because they won’t have ammunition shortages. There were too many bodies outside, and each one had guns and bullets; as long as Satan took so risks and found ways, they could always replenish their ammo.

Plus, with Baghdadi still in Satan’s hands, for the first ti, Anton thought that perhaps Satan might really have a chance to leave alive.

Although the hope was not very high.

Returning to the command room below, the Viper said without hesitation, “Launch the attack again when it gets dark. This ti, it’s our turn.”

After speaking, the Viper said to another Westerner, “Get the brothers ready. After dark, we initiate the attack.”

“Yes!”

The Viper glanced at Anton. He thought for a mont, then said to Anton, “You can go rest now. There’s not much to see here. When we initiate the attack, I’ll invite you to watch.”

Anton smiled, nodded, and said, “Okay, thank you. We’ll not disturb you for now.”

Anton pulled Azar along, and the two of them went into the room prepared for them nearby. Azar imdiately asked urgently, “Why should we stay to witness their rescue operation? Man, if Baghdadi dies, we’re finished!”

Looking at Anton, who still wore a smile, Azar said anxiously, “Don’t you get it? We’ve already expressed support for Baghdadi, but if he dies, we might get silenced!”

Anton whispered, “Don’t you understand? If Baghdadi dies, ISIS will have to quickly elect a new leader. Whoever we support will have a better chance of winning, and most importantly, only when the person we support cos to power can we possibly continue to exert influence on ISIS!”

“Just us? Just the two of us? Our attitude makes any difference? This isn’t sothing we can decide.”

“We can’t decide, but, my friend, our report will have value, which ans…”

Anton paused, then whispered, “Our attitude, just you and , has never been more important, do you understand? Think about how crucial this is for the two of us.”

Azar thought for a mont, and then finally showed a look of sudden realization.

“I understand! So do you think Baghdadi won’t be able to make it out alive?”

Anton shook his head repeatedly and whispered, “I never said that, nor do I think that. But… if we strongly express that Baghdadi must survive, what attitude do you think Baghdadi will have towards us if he is indeed rescued afterward?”

“He has to be grateful to us. It’s simple. Uh, I get it, but I still think it’s unlikely… you also think it’s unlikely, so why still insist on supporting the rescue of Baghdadi?”

“Because it doesn’t require us to be involved, buddy. Think about it, whom do you support to rise to power now?”

“I have absolutely no candidates. This kind of thing isn’t for to consider.”

“Right, neither do I have the appropriate candidate. So wouldn’t it be good to observe for a while during this ti?”

Azar understood but still didn’t quite get it, because supporting a newcor to replace Baghdadi really wasn’t sothing a small figure like him could decide.

Anton felt a bit helpless, but he continued, “Don’t you understand? Whoever we support now might be the one to seize power. After he has seized power, what will those behind you and do? Replace him?”

Azar instinctively nodded, and Anton continued, “Our attitude is very crucial here. Leaving here, it wouldn’t be so crucial. We are key now because communications are cut off here, and only we can represent—a lot of people. So we must take advantage of this opportunity.”

“Extend the duration of the electronic blockade?”

“No, no, it’s not like that.”

Anton whispered, “The length of ti doesn’t actually matter. What’s important is that we must unify our opinions. If you and I each support different people, the consequences could be severe. But if we first reach a consensus on whom to support, that person is almost guaranteed to succeed. For ISIS, getting support from the United States and the Shah is very important, right?”

“Right!”

“Alright, the two of us just need to agree…”

“Wait, what about Baghdadi?”

Anton was a bit anxious. He thought he had made it clear enough, but Azar just couldn’t grasp it.

“It doesn’t matter whether Baghdadi is alive! But we must demand that Baghdadi be rescued, and insist strongly that Baghdadi must survive! This is the consensus that we must have, and we must articulate it clearly and strongly!”

“Why?”

“Because if Baghdadi is alive, he would be grateful for our eagerness to save him. If he dies, that’s fine too, because his loyalists have already died trying to save him, and at least here, there will be no rivals to the person we decide to support. As for how big of a loss ISIS takes, it doesn’t really matter to whom we plan to support, do you understand what I’m saying?”

Azar nodded and whispered, “I understand! I understand! We won’t suffer any losses no matter what, so for now, we must strongly demand that Baghdadi must live, must be rescued!”

Anton smiled and said, “Exactly, later we need to make this attitude even clearer.”

Azar thought for a while and said, “Very well, I understand, I really understand. So who do you think we should support?”

Anton shrugged and said, “We need to observe, and maybe if we wait, soone will co to contact us, and then we can choose the right person. What do you think?”

Azar took a deep breath and whispered, “There will be benefits, right?”

Anton smiled and said, “I’ll follow your lead. Whoever you support, I’ll support.”

Azar imdiately said, “No, no, I’ll listen to you. We’ll discuss it together, but our opinions will definitely be unified! I will definitely cooperate well with you!”
