"Why am I so mighty?" asked Luo Xiu.
"Your personality," said Gu Nian seriously. "Even after experiencing such unfair treatnt, Mr. Luo Xiu still turned out to be such a kind and tender person. That in and of itself is amazing."
"That may not necessarily be the case."
"Oh?"
Gu Nian didn't make out what Luo Xiu had just said ever so softly. She was just looking at him blankly when she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket.
Gu Nian frowned a little. She pulled out her cellphone and was just about to hang it up…
What could possibly be more important than the heart-to-heart mont with her precious son?
……
Evidently, there was sothing.
Looking at the caller ID Quickly Drop on Your Knee for This Imperial Decree, Gu Nian's tear was streaming down inside.
She gave Luo Xiu an apologetic look and said, "Excuse . I need to take this."
Luo Xiu nodded, "Sure. No problem."
Gu Nian walked over to one side, "Ma?"
"Hrm. You still rember you have a mother? You haven't called in three days."
"Two and a half days." Gu Nian corrected her.
"……"
"I have been busy the last couple of days. I was so sleepy that I have forgotten."
"Oh, never mind. I've sent you a business card three days ago. Why haven't you added him yet?"
Gu Nian paused for a little and gave an awkward chuckle. "What's the rush anyway?"
"How can I not rush you?" Grumbled Gu Yuan.
"I am still 4 months from turning 22. That's only 1.5 year since I have reached the legal age to get married. Is this really necessary?" said Gu Nian softly.
"I am only doing this because of your…"
Gu Yuan stopped herself all of a sudden. After remaining silent for 2 seconds, she switched to a more llow tone. "I am not rushing you to get married. I am just introducing you to another friend. You are young. It won't hurt to have a few more friends."
Gu Nian could sense a headache coming on. She leaned against the wall, her voice wilted, "Okay, okay. I will add him as soon as I get back."
"You better not just be saying that."
"Of course not. I wouldn't dare."
"By the way, aren't you on site with your production team right now? If you see any outstanding individual, don't let the opportunity pass you by…"
Gu Nian couldn't contain herself anymore. She chuckled and said, "Ma, are you teaching in person how to be a two-tir?"
"Nonsense! How can you be a two-tir if you don't even have one boyfriend?"
Gu Nian smiled lightly.
Gu Yuan thought about it for a little and, worried, added, "That being said, I am only talking about workers along the sa line of your profession. No actors or singers."
Gu Nian was a little stunned. "Why not?"
"I don't even need to pay attention to your circle to know that your circle is very ssy. Scandal with one today and seen with another the next. The lifestyle is corrupted and luxurious. There are just too many temptations. If you are going to date an actor or singer, you will just be waiting to be cheated him."
"That's stereotyping, Ma."
Gu Nian tried to set her straight solemnly. She couldn't help but turned around and glanced behind herself quickly.
The man was standing next to the window and the sun casted a warm glow around him. Seemingly noticing her look, he looked up and gave her a gentle smile.
Gu Nian returned a smile.
Then she turned back around and corrected her mother very seriously. "There are many honest, tender, and kind young n in our circle too."
"… who are you talking about?"
"Huh?"
"It sounds like you are talking about soone spec…."
"No, you are mistaken!" Gu Nian didn't even give it a second thought before she quickly interrupted whatever shocking conclusion that Gu Yuan might co to.
"Are you lying to ?"
"No. You are overthinking this, Ma. Besides, you've only seen scandals between singers and actors. When have you ever hear about scandals between actors or singers with staff mbers or a little screenwriter? We are not even in the sa world."
After a long silence, Gu Yuan was convinced by that logic. "I guess you are right."
Gu Nian let out a sigh of relief.
Gu Yuan went on and nagged Gu Nian for a while and, finally, after a few more reminders of "rember to add him", she finally hung up.
