Assistant Director Lin got it. He comforted Director Geng in a joking manner. "Yuntan wanted to steal the girl. That is inevitable. Besides, the more realistic it is, the easier it is to get the audiences to imrse. Isn't that a good thing?"
"Realistic? That was realistic. So realistic that I will have to cut out that direct shot."
"Why is that?"
Geng Hongyu rolled his eyes. "This is female lead and third male lead. The last thing I want are audiences being taken down an odd path after seeing the scene."
Assistant Director Lin busted out laughing.
Geng Hongyu thought about it so and said, "I still don't understand."
"What don't you understand?"
"Luo Xiu."
"?"
"If he was truly part of the Lu's, never mind that he joined our team, but Gu Nian?" Geng Hongyu frowned and asked, "What is it that he doesn't have? Why her?"
Assistant Director Lin did not answer his question directly. He just smiled. "Yuntan's role was made for Luo Xiu."
"Hmm?"
"The more buddha like he is, once he strayed." Said Assistant Director Lin, "The deeper he is going to fall."
"… …"
After they had changed and had their makeup removed, Gu Nian and Luo Xiu walked out side by side.
Sothing occurred to Gu Nian, "Father's Day is tomorrow. Does Mr. Luo Xiu need to go ho to visit your father?"
Luo Xiu, "No, I don't."
Surprised, Gu Nian turned to look at him.
Luo Xiu, lowering his eyes, his voice was nonchalant. "My father doesn't like much. All he needs is my younger brother to be there for him."
Gu Nian was so surprised that she stopped in her track.
Noticing that, Luo Xiu too, stopped and turned to look at her.
Finally recollected herself, Gu Nian asked, in surprised, "You have a younger brother, Mr. Luo Xiu?"
"Yes, I do."
"Oh, I didn't know that… I have always wanted to have siblings. I think that will be aweso!" Gu Nian turned around excitedly. "Are you close with your brother?"
"He is my half-brother."
"?"
The smile paused for a little on Gu Nian's face.
Standing extrely close to each other, the man lowered his eyes. The light from outside of the hallway casted down from behind him, making his cold, pale skin appeared weak and fragile.
With his eyes lowered, the man smiled in a forlorn way.
"Neither he nor his parents like . So finally… when I was fed up with being bullied by him, I ran away from ho."
Gu Nian was stunned.
The hallway went silence for a little while and Gu Nian suddenly recollected herself. She looked panicky and her heart ached. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know that how your family was like."
"Why are you apologizing?" Luo Xiu looked up. His brown eyes tendered like water in autumn. "This was not your fault."
"What about your mother?"
"My mother?" Luo Xiu seed to be caught off guard.
"Yes." Gu Nian asked in a cautious way, "Do you live your aunty then?"
Luo Xiu smiled slightly. "I am not familiar with the phrase 'mother'."
"Hmm?"
"I was told that she passed away shortly after I was born. We have no pictures of hers at ho and my father had never talked about her. As such, I don't rember much of her," said Luo Xiu.
"……"
Gu Nian was so sad that she couldn't even talk.
She never thought that her precious son had such a tragic past and that he had so casually told it to her without any hesitations.
Was this the weight trust that her son had in her?
Gu Nian's heart, soaked in her own tears, quickly developed an achy and weighty sense of responsibility–
Don't cry, Son. Mom is here. Even if all those jerks are awful to you, Mom will never let you down!
Luo Xiu eyes were still lowered.
His spectacles, with the gold chain dangling down, was placed back over his nose after his makeup had been removed. Through the thin light reflected off of the lens, there were deep and shallow shadows in his brown eyes.
The desire, hidden deeply inside of his heart, almost struggled free from that one scene turned into a monster that wanted every bit of change in emotions in the girl.
It desired all of her.
"But Mr. Luo Xiu, you are so mighty!"
"– –"
The girl looked up all of a sudden. Luo Xiu quickly lowered his eyes in an effort to hide his true emotions that he had yet to rein back in. For once, he felt a little frazzled.
Recollected himself, Luo Xiu curved his lips a little in a self-mocking way.
It had always been him who had mocked others nonchalantly.
Now… was this karma?
