Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Maintenance

Everyone turned their heads toward Bai Sheng’er when they heard the sound.

Her face instantly lost its composure, turning pale and then bluish, as she looked at Shen Heyu with a pitiful expression and said, “Why would you say that, Director Shen? Do you have any evidence?”

Shen Heyu was not swayed by her act of pity and said coldly, “I am well aware of what abilities you possess, and as your leader, I know even better what you’re capable of. Indeed, I don’t have any evidence, but since you insist that this is your planned sche, why don’t you showcase your concept to us?”

“Let’s hear it. Why do you want to implent your plan this way? What’s the purpose, and who is the target audience?”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the conference room focused their eyes on Bai Sheng’er, waiting for her next words.

However, Bai Sheng’er clenched her fists where no one could see, her nails digging deep into her flesh, and she could not utter a single word.

...

After all, the sche was not hers, but was newly created by an intern nad Lin Yiran.

Everyone was relaxed, observing her unable to say a word for a long ti, and there was nothing left unclear.

If she had really created it, why couldn’t she speak a single word?

Pei Yansi sat in the highest seat, silently watching this scene, and after a long while, not hearing a reply from Bai Sheng’er, he said with a cold face, “eting adjourned.”

Shen Heyu was sowhat puzzled when she heard the command to adjourn, but soon she realized it was his way to defend Bai Sheng’er.

She frowned, seemingly unsurprised by the situation, and did not pursue further who was responsible for the sche, gathered her belongings, and left the conference room.

Bai Sheng’er sighed in relief internally, also seeing clearly that Pei Yansi was deliberately protecting her.

She also packed up without caring how others viewed her; after all, Pei Yansi had defended her in front of everyone, going against Shen Heyu’s face, which was only beneficial for her.

After packing up and returning to her office, she started slacking off and taking ti to do her makeup, ticulously perfecting her look until it was ti to clock out.

She then returned to the hotel arranged by Pei Yansi for her, changed into a rather plain outfit, and subsequently called Pei Yansi to arrange a dinner together to further explain what had happened today.

Pei Yansi did not refuse on the other end and even sent a driver to pick her up.

Bai Sheng’er chose a couples’ restaurant for the dinner.

There were no private rooms, just a spacious hall where all the diners were legitimate couples. Pei Yansi looked around, then at Bai Sheng’er sitting opposite him, his expression inscrutable, showing no emotion.

Soon, the waitress ca over, and Bai Sheng’er ordered the food, specifically selecting many dishes that Pei Yansi liked, even though he would eventually pay for them.

Pei Yansi barely touched his chopsticks, just sitting back in his chair, watching Bai Sheng’er.

Feeling uncomfortable under his intense gaze, she lost her appetite, and after a while, couldn’t help herself and initiated, “Brother Yan Si, why are you looking at like that…”

Pei Yansi, expressionless and with a cold tone, said, “I know you didn’t create today’s sche. Why did you do it?”

Bai Sheng’er blinked, her eyes innocent, but she had arranged this eting tonight precisely to discuss this matter, so she had already prepared all her explanations, quickly saying:

“It’s not… indeed, it wasn’t who did it, but I didn’t intentionally steal soone else’s work either. It was all directed by Liu ng…”

“Liu ng?” Faced with her innocent eyes, Pei Yansi harbored no suspicions; she was fresh out of school, a pure, naive flower.

Bai Sheng’er read the room and saw that Pei Yansi believed her, quickly adding fuel to the fire, “She’s a director, and she used her authority to threaten . She said that I should steal this project and present it at the eting. When Lin Yiran realizes his proposal was stolen, he’ll definitely confront Director Shen…”

“That would lead to Director Shen being accused of negligence, allowing his subordinates to be wronged—it’s all so unthinkable, I don’t really know what Director Liu is trying to achieve…”

As Bai Sheng’er said this, tears fell from her eyes. She hurriedly raised her hand to wipe them away and looked up at Pei Yansi, “Brother Yansi, do you believe ?”

Her appearance was indeed pitiful and genuinely innocent.

Pei Yansi thought of how Liu ng and Shen Heyu had always been at odds. It was plausible that she had the motive to do such a thing.

He pulled a tissue from the table and handed it to her, saying, “I just wanted to ask; of course, I believe you. Let’s hurry up and eat.”

Bai Sheng’er, seeing her mont, took the tissue from his hand, wiped away her tears, and quietly began to eat.

However, Pei Yansi had lost his appetite. To not spoil hers as well, he pretended to eat a little, all the while thinking about Liu ng.

The very next morning, he went to the company and imdiately instructed HR to terminate Liu ng.

Liu ng was stunned upon receiving the news. She was still competing with Shen Heyu for a promotion opportunity at the company and had put in so much effort, only to be dismissed on grounds of harming a colleague.

Dissatisfied, she directly stord into the HR departnt to make a scene.

The HR director, feeling helpless yet experienced, maintained a smiling facade but provided no real resolution.

Unable to bear it any longer and just about to erupt, Liu ng heard Bai Sheng’er’s voice behind her, “Director Liu, why are you so frantic?”

Liu ng turned around and asked, “Was it you?”

“Could we step aside to talk?”

Liu ng glanced at the crowded HR office, gave it no further thought, and followed Bai Sheng’er to the pantry.

“Do you need sothing?” Liu ng had agreed to assist her in ousting Shen Heyu from the company, but there had been no real action so far.

Bai Sheng’er said, “Yesterday, I heard President Pei saying it was Director Shen who intentionally did this to have you fired, thus eliminating a rival. Instead of causing a scene in HR, it’s better to confront Shen Heyu about this.”

“Are you serious?”

Liu ng was skeptical. Despite her poor relationship with Shen Heyu, from what she knew over the years, Shen didn’t seem like the type to stab soone in the back.

“Believe it or not, it’s up to you.” Bai Sheng’er tersely added and left without further discussion.

Gritting her teeth, Liu ng was forced to believe it.

Her heart surged with hatred, focused solely on plotting her revenge against Shen Heyu!

She avoided causing further incidents in HR and seriously gathered her things to leave the company, all the while scheming how she could get back at Shen Heyu.
