My phone buzzed in my pocket.
[Hey Christian. Can we talk in private? I have an update on Karl’s court case.]
I read Zach’s ssage and looked at the ti.
I still have ti before the event begins.
My eyes traveled to the opposite side of the room, where Leslie was happily chatting with that blonde friend of hers. It was my first ti eting the man, but I already hated him. I hated how he could make Leslie laugh like that.
[Yeah. et in my room. #714]
"Wow, look at her dress. It doesn’t suit her at all. What was she thinking?" Morgan sneered, staring at a pretty-looking lady in the distance. She was wearing a silver dress that slightly resembled the one Morgan was wearing, but it was different enough that you could tell them apart at first glance.
"I think she looks fine," I said, shrugging my shoulders. If I had to be honest, no one here compared to Leslie’s beauty. Beside her, the rest of the beautifully dressed won all looked the sa to .
Morgan tightened her grip around my arm, "Surely you think this color suits more. Don’t you?" She looked at with a start in her eyes.
Not particularly.
"Yes, of course. You’re the most radiant one in the room," I said as I took a sip from my champagne glass.
I couldn’t help but continuously throw glances in Leslie’s direction. That blonde himbo beside her had the audacity to touch her so casually as if she were his woman.
My eyes darkened as a number of dark thoughts flooded my mind. The only thing keeping from walking over there and ripping his arm off of her was the thought that I’d be seeing Leslie very soon.
I’ll make sure she screams my na at the top of her lungs. That way, she’ll know that she’s mine. Only mine.
I pictured how I was going to slip that sexy dress off her body and watch as she squird beneath in pleasure.
Yes, Leslie. You’re going to have an unforgettable night.
My lips curved up into a small smile. Her radiant, smiling face was only fueling my jealous thoughts. The way she looked at him and laughed was sothing I wanted only done to .
The more I watched them, the more my mood soured and my jealousy grew. Morgan’s voice beca ear-gratingly annoying to the point of my wanting to escape her clutches.
"Forgive , Miss. But I’ve been summoned for an important eting. I’ll co find you after it’s finished."
Her eyes curved into crescents. "Oh, okay! No problem! I’ll be here waiting for you!" she said happily, finally letting go of my arm.
I glanced at Leslie one final ti before stepping out of the main hall. It was only a matter of ti before she’d be lying beneath , screaming my na in the most passionate way possible.
Using the elevators in the main lobby, I quickly traveled up to the seventh floor. Many of today’s guests were staying in this hotel, and since I wanted privacy, I ended up booking the entire seventh floor.
The room I chose was the largest and most luxurious one on the floor. It was the room I usually liked to stay in whenever I stayed here.
"Hey, you’re finally here." Zach was leaning against the wall in the hallway right outside my door. He looked tired and slightly annoyed.
"Did you wait long?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. It’s only been a few minutes since I sent the text.
He shook his head, "No, but I had to take the stairs since I didn’t have the keycard. One of the other hotel guests let into the stairwell. I’m just winded."
I nodded and unlocked the door. "Here, have so water and catch your breath. I want to go out and have a smoke."
I took off my jacket and draped it over one of the chairs before walking over to the bedroom balcony. Zach nearly downed half the water bottle in one go before walking over behind .
"Close the door behind you. I don’t want the cigarette smoke entering the room," I said, lighting up my cigarette in my seat.
Zach closed the door and laughed, "Why? Expecting soone later?"
Actually, yes.
"Nah, I just don’t want it getting in the room. It’s technically a non-smoking room," I said, coming up with a random excuse. "So what did you want to tell ?"
Zach leaned against the sliding glass doors and let out a deep sigh. "It’s about Karl. I just got a call back from the lawyer saying they’re running into more issues. It’s turning into more of a headache than expected."
I closed my eyes and filled my lungs with smoke.
Karl, huh. Looks like he’s more resistant than a roach, impossible to squash.
From Leslie’s recount of events that led up to my mory loss the night of the auction event, I already knew that whatever happened to was most likely related to Karl. What most likely happened was that I found sothing they didn’t want to find after I followed Karl and the other man.
Keeping him around would certainly make things easier, but I can’t risk allowing him to get close to Leslie.
Zach just finished explaining what was happening in the court before looking at . "You’re wasting your ti bringing this guy to justice right now. If you wait until the Moresis are destroyed, he’d lose all of his backing, and you could send him to life in prison with the snap of your fingers!"
Yes, that would be the best and most ideal way to get rid of him, but for Leslie’s sake, it has to be done the hard way.
"You don’t understand. I can’t have him running free, Zach," I said with a deep sigh. I fully understood his logic, but he wasn’t aware of the relationship I had with Leslie. And as much of a good friend he was, he was soone who had a hard ti keeping certain details to himself. I didn’t plan on revealing my relationship with Leslie until it was ready to go public.
Zach seed to flare up at my words. "You’re right, I don’t understand, so please explain it to ! I want to know what’s gotten into you. Do you even want to do this anymore?"
A fire lit inside of . My mood was already irritable from seeing Leslie happily spending her ti with another man. Zach’s attitude didn’t help either, causing to raise my voice at him. "Of course I do! I went as far as getting engaged to the eldest daughter to do this! I want nothing more than to watch that auction house burn to the ground!"
