I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

When I looked in the mirror, I barely recognized myself. My skin was pale, almost sickly. Not surprising, given everything.

I sighed, gripping the sink for a mont before splashing cold water on my face. It didn’t help much, but I stepped out of the bathroom anyway.

My eyes flickered to the bed. He was still there, still asleep.

Without wasting another second, I turned and left. I needed to check on Bella. They refused to let in last night, but today should be different, right?

With that thought, I made my way toward the reception desk.

The sa female Beta from last night looked up as I approached. "How may I help you again?"

"I’m here to see a friend who was admitted late last night," I said.

She raised a brow. "A Beta or an Oga?"

"Oga. Dark hair. About this tall." I gestured with my hand. "She was poisoned by a snake bite. I brought her in myself."

The Beta checked the system, then nodded. "Bella Rao?"

"Yes."

"She was transferred to the second section last night for poison extraction." She picked up a pen and jotted sothing down in her notes.

"Where’s the second section?" I asked.

She pointed. "Turn back, go right, then turn right again. You’ll see a fork, just take the left, then you’re there."

"Thank you."

I followed the Beta’s directions, walking quickly but quietly, taking the first turn, the second, then the fork.

When I reached the second section, I saw beds lined up with thin curtains between them. My eyes searched until I found her.

Bella was lying there, eyes closed, her face was too pale.

I stepped closer, my chest tightening. "Bella?" My voice ca out softer than I wanted.

She was breathing, but her lips were dry and pale. A strong sll of dicine covered her usual scent.

I clenched my fists. I brought her here in ti, right? She was supposed to be okay.

Slowly, I reached out and touched her hand. It was warm, but she didn’t move.

"She’s still being watched," a voice said behind . I turned and saw a doctor, an Oga, judging by the scent.

"The poison was strong, but fortunately she was brought in just in ti before it got to her heart, so we were able to get it out. She’s stable now," he said. "She’ll wake up soon. And she needed as much rest, peace and quiet at this instance so I hope you can leave her be for now."

I nodded, but my eyes stayed on her.

She was still lying there, not moving, eyes closed.

And that scared sohow, but I believe she’ll wake up since she’s out of danger and only needs to recuperate.

I let out a slow breath, glancing at her one last ti before leaving so as not to be a source of disturbance.

The walk back to my room felt longer than before. My body was tired, my mind even more so. I just wanted to lie down for a bit. Maybe then my thoughts would stop running in circles.

But when I pushed the door open, the room was empty, even the bed that he was laying on just a while ago was empty. And besides the bed was my luggages, I guessed they finally had them delivered.

I frowned, my eyes sweeping over the bed. The blankets weren’t ssy, it would be hard for soone to know soone actually slept here, he must have left a while ago, he unexpectedly took care of it. How unexpected.

But it’s good he’s gone already.

I didn’t want to deal with him anyway.

Still, sothing about it made my chest feel tight. I shook the feeling off and sat on the bed, leaning forward with my elbows on my knees. My fingers ran through my hair as I let out a slow sigh.

Maybe I should try to rest a little.

I laid down, staring at the ceiling. But sleep didn’t co, all that was happening was my mind kept drifting.

To the things I tried to forget.

I sat up with a frustrated sigh.

Lying here wasn’t going to help.

My stomach growled, reminding that I hadn’t eaten since yesterday. I hesitated for a mont before deciding to head to the cafeteria.

I left the room again, and got back to the hallway where I asked a few people for directions all while trying as possible to avoid any unnecessary attention from Beta’s.

Fortunately for , the cafeteria wasn’t crowded since it was still a little early, but there were a few people scattered around. A couple of Betas sat in one corner, talking in hushed voices. So Ogas sat together, eating quietly.

I grabbed a tray and picked so food, nothing special, just a simple al and went to sit.

After having breakfast

I headed outside, needing fresh air.

The sky outside was bright, not like the sunny bright, because the sun is yet to be out so the air outside was a bit cold against my skin, but it was better than being stuck inside.

I wandered toward the training grounds for a while, and when I had enough, I was returning back to my room when Audrey walked up to .

I hadn’t even seen him to thank him properly for helping the other day, so I decided to use this dium to do it.

"Heading back to your room?" He said with a smile as soon as he neared .

"Yeah... heading sowhere?" I asked him.

"Not really, I’m coming from your room. I just thought to look out in the hallway, maybe I’ll see you since it was said that you’re back."

"Got back last night."

"How’s the mission? Report yet to the instructors?"

"Not yet." I sighed heavily rembering I haven’t reported yet, maybe I should even be more concerned about that right now. We failed the mission, two people dead, one lying there in the bed injured, and I ca back without any fruition.

"Then you better do so. Just thought to say hi... and to ask if Droco is here,"

"Droco?" I was confused.

"Oh... you don’t know?"

"Know what?"

"There’s only one droco here and that’s Kael!"

"Oh." I muttered, realization dawning on , "is he supposed to be here?"

"You two seed to be close so I thought you must know his whereabouts."

" and Kael... close?" I laughed a little at how ridiculous that sounds to my ear, "We’re not close. Moreover, didn’t his window get broken?" I asked, rembering he’d told himself that his room window got broken.

"His room got broken into? Hahaha" he burst out laughing hard. "Why are you so funny?" He said holding his stomach as he laughed even harder.

"What? I think..."

"His room wasn’t broken! Who would dare do such a thing? If they’re not instinctively seeking their own death."

Then why would he co to my room lying that his room window got broken when it wasn’t.

"Do you know whether he went sowhere yesterday?" I couldn’t help asking, given that those wounds at his back must be from sowhere right?

"I wouldn’t know! Do you really think we’re close? If I knew where he was, would I have co to you to seek his whereabouts?" He groaned.

"But you two were communicating... and he even said to give you the drive.."

"That was because it was necessary." He face pald himself, "and he believes I can carry it out from inside, soone like him will never trust his whereabouts with anyone!"

"Why then would you think he’s with !?"

His face drawn up with confusion, "Aren’t you his mochi?"

"His what?" I scread out.
