Chapter 94: Them Supernaturals
Finally, it stirred from its pose, its head slowly turning in his direction.
A pair of crimson and dark light illuminated White, whose soul instantly froze at the sight of its eyes.
Its left eye was completely dark.
So dark, even in this darkness, it still appeared darker, and the sensation it gave him was like staring into a bottomless abyss.
The right eye, on the other hand, was full crimson, giving the sensation of a tumultuous sea of blood.
"Tell me..."
He said, his massive claws reaching for White, who felt the void around him being crushed to nothing.
The chains rattled harder, trying to force the approaching claws to a stop.
"Tell me... or I’ll rip it out from your very soul."
"Supernaturals."
White responded, and the claw froze a couple of meters away from him.
The void continuously cracked even under those unmoving claws, seemingly unable to contain the might in them.
"My world is in a fight with Supernaturals."
"What do they look like?"
The Otherworlder asked.
"They’re a diverse race."
________
[A/N: Can you name all the Supernaturals based on the little description? Each Correct Name will equal 1 bonus Chapter!]
________
"Some are like wolves, but walking on both feet."
White began.
"Some are similar to my shape, but with fangs that allow them to suck blood to grow their strength."
"Some scream very loudly, enough to blow entire structures to dust and turn a body into gore."
"There are a lot more than that."
White said, but the Otherworlder snapped.
"Tell me more!"
"Some can’t be seen by most, and they phase through obstacles like barriers aren’t a concept."
"Some are no different from me, but in a blink, they become a walking tsunami of flames."
"Some have bodies like shadows, sticking to the ground or walls, and killing without ever fully revealing their form."
"Some are knights, clad in black armor, their bodies long gone but their will still fighting."
"Some are made entirely of bone, towering giants that rebuild themselves no matter how many times they’re broken."
"Some are covered in eyes... dozens, hundreds..."
"Some are beasts made of stone, slow but unstoppable, crushing anything in their path."
"Some are like me but hundreds of times larger, crushing everything around them into the ground with a single step."
"Some are parasites... they enter you... and by the time you notice, you’re no longer yourself."
"...that’s the most I personally know exists."
White completed, and a deep humming rang out.
"The races you talk about shouldn’t exist."
It said, and White paused.
"You don’t believe me?"
"I do."
"Your description is visceral enough. But, they shouldn’t exist."
"Seems like that war didn’t get rid of them all. And now, they’ve spread like the vermin that they are, corrupting worlds."
CRACKLE!
White wanted to ask what war, but the rattling of the chains and the suffocating bloodlust from the creature made him focus all his attention on simply trying to make sure his soul didn’t fade.
"COME!"
The voice suddenly said, waking White up from his struggle.
When he opened his eyes, he found the being standing upright, and turning beneath his feet, White found himself at the center of its massive palms, beneath which was a portal of white, crimson, and dark, all revolving.
They unleashed a terrifying absorption force that slowly dragged White down into it.
"I will bond with you."
It said to White, who didn’t bother to resist.
It was already hard keeping his soul stable enough, let alone trying to escape the absorption force that was dragging him down.
But there were many unanswered questions that should make him wary.
The Otherworlder had mentioned having fused with thousands, and all of them being dead?
Would his fate, if he bonded with it, be any different?
The greater probability was obvious.
Why were the source souls bonding to it all dying?
It had said it wanted neither familiarity nor chaos, only to be left alone, yet here he was, forcing a fusion.
What does he want this time?
Why did it react so violently at the mention of the Supernaturals?
What was that war?
There were a lot of questions, but not many answers.
At this point, half of White’s body was halfway through the portal, and the sensation was anything but pleasant.
It was like being stuck in an iron grinder, slowly crushing his lower part and dragging the rest into it.
The being’s both eyes had shut closed, and on its face, its forehead to be exact, a runic mark had appeared.
It was in the shape of the same portal that was dragging White in.
The last thing White saw happen to that runic mark was the center of it tearing open, revealing darkness... and something.
’An eye?’
___________
Chaos.
That was all that it had been reduced to.
Mountains crushed to nothing but rubble, and at first, deathly silence covered it all before,
BOOOM!
A mild reverberation through the stones.
BOOOOM!
BOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOOOM!
Another reverberation soon followed, and then another and another until,
BAAAAANG!
A heavy explosion rocked this part of the mountain as a hand covered in blood tore out from beneath the crumbled stones.
A second hand tore out a moment later and, grabbing the edges, it pulled itself out.
"Ahhh,"
"Ahhh,"
White exhaled rabidly in exhaustion, blood pouring out of his fists as he looked around him.
’What the hell?’
The last time he had fallen asleep, he had done so in a coffin in his room, yet now, he was tearing himself out of the rubble of a mountain.
Before him, there was nothing but endless rubble.
The entire mountain that had served as rooms for the students of Aether Beyonders had been crushed to nothing.
[Turn Back.]
The system flashed, and as White slowly turned backwards, his eyes widened in shock.
’What... What the hell happened?’
[War!]
The system panel flashed in bold, as a chill crossed White’s spine.
If someone claimed to have gone to hell and returned, then this scene, this horror before him, would qualify.
"Aether Beyonders... Aether Beyonders Academy... has been destroyed!?"
