Chapter 70: All Part of a Plot

Walking towards Davinci, who, though shocked, still slipped into a combat stance, White pointed a finger at him as the space collapsed.

"Activate Limitless Collapse!"

He ordered, and Davinci’s face changed.

He hurriedly tried to run away to the far side, but failed as the suction force burst through, catching him in its hold.

He was dragged an inch away from White’s finger, his pitch-black eyes staring into White’s crimson ones.

At first, White’s face was as expressionless as ever, but then, his face took on a complete change, his eyes narrowing and his grin widening to his ear.

"Hehehe."

His current facial expression was the incarnation of pure mockery, and Davinci could swear he almost heard it saying to him the exact words.

’So much for trying to devour my soul.’

"Collapse!"

BOOOOOOOOM!

The full power of a Level 4 Limitless Collapse erupted against Davinci’s forehead, launching him backward at blinding speed.

A trail of destruction was carved across the lower stage, ending with his unconscious body.

Silence fell on the battle stage, but it was broken.

STEP!

STEP!

STEP!

Without a word, White’s hands fell to the side, and he stepped away, reaching for the exit.

"WINNER! WHITE SINCLAW!"

The instructor announced the unbelievable result, and still, there was no cheering, nor did White even remain there to receive one.

"He won. He truly won the challenge."

"He took the 1st on the ranking and the third on the ranking, along with Rukun, all at the same time without rest and still won!"

At first, they had thought it was just pure disrespect, but now?

________

CLAP!

CLAP!

CLAP!

In the Instructor’s booth, the sound of a lone clap echoed through those glass walls, and it came from none other than Vice Rohan, who wouldn’t stop clapping his hands.

"Now that! Is what I call a challenge!"

He said, giggling like a little kid.

"Huh, did anyone notice the boy never spoke a word throughout the fight? He appears to be possessed, or is it just me?"

"Possessed? I’ll call that the marksman of a true warrior."

Vice Rohan said.

"He was challenged, and rather than indulge in pointless talk, he fought, crushed them all, and walked off the stage."

"He simply did what he was expected to do, nothing less, nothing more, and that is simply excellent."

"This fight gave me the same vibe I would expect from Newcomers fighting a second year."

Another Instructor said as they discussed the fight, but amidst the discussion, one instructor was silent, and that was Instructor Iritis.

He could remember vividly.

Just yesterday, White had come to him, saying he needed to fight a top ten second year.

And he had made the reason clear, even as unbelievable as it sounded.

____

"I feel like my Limitless Energy adapts to power. Like the stronger the opponent’s power, the stronger it grows too."

____

He had fought Zeras yesterday, and today he suddenly challenged all three and defeated them.

Was that really just a simple coincidence?

’His strength had improved him even more. In fact, his energy reserves seem to have doubled just after fighting Young Lord Zeras.’

’The same also happened when he fought Inumaki, and his strength also rose again.’

’Could his hypothesis be true? Does his Limitless Energy really adapt to the power of his opponent, forcing growth in him?’

’But...that’s not how Limitless Energy works. Only a single bloodline in the world is known to do that, and he clearly isn’t one of those humans.’

’So how?’

’Just what makes his limitless energy so special.’

"Oregon."

Vice Rohan called out, snapping Iritis out of his train of thought.

The man was standing on his feet, and as usual, easily towering above even the tallest of them.

"Yes, Vice Rohan."

A female Instructor replied.

"Get me every knowledge possible about White."

He said, and she nodded.

"It’s obvious keeping him in here with the Newcomers is a waste of his potential if he’s able to easily solo the strongest of them, in just a few weeks in the academy."

"His growth rate is explosive, and following the schedule meant for the newcomers would only slow him down."

Vice Rohan said.

"Are you saying we make him a 2nd year?"

Another Instructor asked, but Vice Rohan shook his head.

"That’ll be a good course of action, but we can’t do that."

"It will communicate to the rest of the Newcomers that all that matters here is combat ability and knowledge is no good."

"We’re not like the United Earth Federation or Mutantgnomes."

"Our institute is built mainly on knowledge, though that doesn’t mean we will impede the growth of our promising students."

"Once I get his information, I’ll hold a board meeting with the other Vices, and we will find a way to make sure his growth rate is only further boosted and not impeded, even without him being promoted to a second year."

"I’m sure those old monsters will know a way or two."

_______

[That was good combat.]

The system panel flashed as White walked the empty academy streets.

Since the students were all still in the arena and he had left first, the streets were more or less deserted.

[But it also exposes all of your strength and skill capacity to the entire academy, especially to those Instructors.]

[You saw those Instructors in that glass box, didn’t you?

The system asked, and White shrugged, his eyes having regained the normal dark color.

"I felt their presence."

He answered, continuing,

"As for exposing my skill capacity, everyone already knows what the Limitless Bloodline can do."

"What I showed just proved I have a high comprehension of the skills; it’s not new."

"As for my strength? Trash."

He spoke.

[Trash!?]

The system asked.

"Yes. It’s trash, compared to the instructors, and compared to my old self."

"Even the announcer will find no problem blowing my brains out of my skull with a good punch of his."

"It’s only impressive being a Newcomer. This level of strength is still nothing in the real world of power."

"Besides, I didn’t show all of that just because I wanted to win some stupid challenge."

He mused, resuming his footsteps.

[Knew it. So what plot were you planning?]

The system asked, and White grinned before replying.

"I want to be noticed."

[Wow.]

[Though I don’t know why you suddenly wish to be a celebrity, I’m pretty sure that with that performance of yours, you’ve achieved your aim.]

’I did. Now...I simply wait. They’ll come to me soon.’

[Come to you soon?...Who?]
