Chapter 69: An Original Heir (III)
For one whose ability revolved around being invisible to physical damage, one would expect a lack of true combat ability, but that wasn’t the case with Davinci.
The boy was good in close combat, managing to avoid many of the blows, but still, White’s combat ability was simply unfair.
It was 10 years of fighting his way up through the madness of a predatory military organization and brutal Supernaturals.
Not something a newcomer could hope to match, and eventually, Davinci’s Nietzsche manifestation cracked.
This was evident as White kicked at his strike, and whilst the boy did block it by crossing his arm over the other, he was knocked back, sliding for three meters before he came to a stop crouched.
The shadowy effect of his had also disappeared, and all the students could see he had indeed lost the Nietzsche manifestation ability, regaining physicality.
"He’s going to lose too."
The students voiced their fears.
White’s aim all along had been clearly to make Davinci lose physical form, and now that he had, it was obvious the boy was a sitting duck.
But contrarily, Davinci had a smile on his face instead, even as sweat dripped down his face, an obvious sign of his exhaustion.
"Too exhausted to move, aren’t you?"
Davinci asked, and as if his words tweaked reality, White suddenly crouched down low.
His lips opened, and thick white smoke gushed out, hot breath that had been kept in to allow him to fully concentrate on combat.
He looked up at the smiling Davinci, but his eyes were truly on the panel.
[Energy: 0/150]
He was finally out.
Taking on Rukun, then Gustav, and then breaking through Nietzsche’s manifestation had completely sucked him dry.
But he didn’t say a word, simply standing there looking right at Davinci.
The boy, though he knew White was already spent, didn’t risk unnecessarily walking to White to push him down.
Instead, his hands raised all five fingers, spreading apart, and he called out.
"Nietzsche NomNom Spirit!"
A dark ray of light came out of the center of his palm, like a string, and when it touched the ground, it rapidly moved forward to White, who remained unmoving.
Appearing beneath him, the light spread, soon coming to form a runic circle of about three meters in diameter, with White being the center point of it.
All of a sudden, the ground beneath began to ripple like liquid, and in the next moment, White suddenly began to rise into the air.
But he wasn’t really rising on his own.
There was this bizarre liquid shadow that came out from the ground, pushing up until it completely engulfed White and the creature fully took form.
It was like a squirming earthworm of sorts, its belly shaking around as it stood upright in the air, with White deep in its stomach.
Silence reigned through the battle stage as they wondered speechlessly.
Did they just watch a student get devoured whole?
Was the battle finally over?
If anyone could pierce their gaze inside, they would find White just right there in the creature’s tummy.
There was a dark liquid all around him, his hands bound by some unexplainable force behind him, and the same for his legs.
The sensation he felt was akin to a training he had in the United Earth Federation.
Both of their arms were tied together behind their back along with their legs, and then they were thrown into a dark sea and left there for hours on end.
One of the many environmental trainings.
While any students would have been freaked out from being devoured and dark, gooey liquid filling their lungs, making them pass out.
To White, he had simply found another one of his homes, and his eyes remained wide open as he called.
’System,’
[Yes.]
’Use a Level Up Card.’
[Level Up Card Remaining: 1]
[Using Level Up Card]
In his last level up, White had left a level-up card in a case he would ever be in a pinch and need to regenerate.
Now, there was no better time.
____
While the students were confused about the fate of the fight, the one most confused was the battle Instructor.
He had no idea what he should do.
The last thing he had seen White do was remain there, breathing out in exhaustion.
It was obvious that there wasn’t the slightest amount of energy left in him.
Yet now, with White having been devoured whole, isn’t it clear he was already out?
He couldn’t peer through that earthworm but could hear the beating heart, showing White was still there, though that can’t help him figure out if he was unconscious or not.
________
In the Instructor’s area...
"Hey Iritis..."
Vice Rohan called out,
"Yes, Vice Rohan."
"Tell Ronald not to call off the fight, yet."
He said, and Instructor Iritis turned to look at the announcer whose hand was slowly raising to call in favor of Davinci.
But then his hand paused in the air as he turned his head in their direction before slowly letting his hands drop.
In silence, they all watched.
...10 seconds
...30 seconds.
When it reached exactly 45 seconds, the murmurs from the students filled the arena, complaining why the battle wasn’t getting called off yet.
But exactly 5 seconds after their murmur,
RIIIPPPLEEE
It was an unexplainable rippling on the surface of the standing earthworm.
It started slowly but quickly escalated, and its entire surface began to violently ripple.
"MIR MIRRR."
An explicable noise was made by the earthworm, and in the next moment.
BURST!
The upper head of the creature was blown apart as a figure tore upward into the sky, both hands outspread.
The creature’s hulking frame was immediately reduced back to shadow liquid, which faded out of the stage, and White landed on the ground with a thud.
"Impossible."
Davinci mused, unconsciously taking a step back as he looked at White, whose hand scrubbed at his right wrist whilst he walked towards him.
"He’s completely filled with energy!?"
