"...." silence followed as Victor stood there dumbfounded. But then a hollow laugh escaped his lips.
"I should have known that! You do not trust ." The voice was full of grief. It forced Nora to look away.
"I trust you. But..." the urge in his eyes left her at a loss of words. "But my life is not that simple. Even if I tell you, you would not believe ." The surety in her voice made him laugh again.
"Try ! Let’s start with the ga. Whose idea was it?" He stared hard at her, making it clear that she could not go until she would speak the truth. She smiled wryly.
"You! It was your idea. Now do you believe it?" Victor frowned. The look in Nora’s eyes told her that she was speaking the truth. A strange mory of his childhood where his mother teased her to watch powerpuff girls. And to hide his embarrassnt he had told her that he was researching.
He would design a ga on it one day. Her mother had laughed it off. She had not believed him. But that day, he had promised to himself that he would make a ga out of it one day. That was one of the reasons he was attracted to Nora and her ga. It felt like she could read his mind when it ca to the ga. But..
"You can not read minds. Can you?" even though he felt his question was absurd. Even if she could, he had forgotten about that mory until she showed him her design.
"Sotis, it is hard to accept the truth. So, now, I ask you. Do you believe enough to not search for the truth and accept my words as they are?" Nora took a step back and collected her things. She did not pressure him for his reply like he had.
It made him feel like a coward. He was afraid that she did not need him enough. His presence did not matter to her. But she was not at all haunted by those thoughts. Was he the only one struggling?
"Do you love ? At least tell this truthfully!" his pleading voice paused her. She closed her eyes and mories of her past haunted her.
"I have suffered enough in my life, Victor. Whenever I have loved soone, either they have abandoned or used . It is hard for to love. But.. I am trying. I am trying my best to love you. For , you are special." there was sothing in those words, on her face, in her voice that he felt his heart breaking for her.
He hugged her hard. So hard that she could not breathe. So hard that it felt he was breaking her apart so that he could be one with her. So hard that she heard his fast heartbeat. Nora closed her eyes and leaned. She knew she was too suspicious and did not bla him for doubting her.
"Next ti, if you have doubts, you are to co to directly. If you ignored my calls again and made wait.." she did not continue. He did not let her, as he captured her lips and kissed her hard.
How much ti had passed when he finally let her go. They both painted for breath. He closed his eyes and collected his thoughts.
"Father saw you eting soone in the dark. He even claid that you had left for the night when you visited our house. I told him that you could not do that. But then he took to et Alex’s father. I did not know how to react, Nora. But I am not ignoring your calls. I was in the middle of a fight when you called." he breathed hard, closing his eyes.
"..." Nora went silent. She knew Mr Jhonson did not like her. He had..
"I told him it is not true. You are not like that. I will convince him sohow. For now, I will handle the ga if you trust . Is that ok?" he held her hand and looked at her pleadingly when she nodded.
"I am leaving for Nigher anyway. If selected, I will leave for Xiola country for my finals. I will not be here for two weeks. I hope the ga will be launched by the ti I return." he finally took a breath of relief.
"I will convince my father too sohow. When he would see you in international news making a na for yourself, he would change his view for you. We will be together no matter what." he squeezed her hands tightly when he noticed she looked lost.
He misunderstood it as her worries and hugged her hard. He kissed her forehead and promised to be with her again. Nora just closed her eyes.
"It is late, you should know before the new warden thinks ill of too." she whispered and only then did he let her go.
"Aah, yes. Then I will see you tomorrow in class. You are returning. Right" only when Nora nodded did he leave the room. Nora stood there blankly. Her hands touched the minor bruises on her arms. Her eyes looked lost.
"Your lover boy is insecure. Even though he behaved like the matter was resolved, I am sure he is still worried about you and his father." Nora turned around and saw Emma standing near the window.
She placed her hand on the window and jumped inside. Grinning at Nora, she picked up an apple and munched on it.
"He is attached to his family. It must be hard for him to go against them for . No wonder he is full of anger." Emma raised a brow. The way Nora analyzes the situation practically! There was no way her emotions were rippled by Victor’s action.
"Well, it is not his mistake. You do not love him. If he asks for a break up, you will accept it without any hesitation. Even I would have been insecure if I dated you. But I do not understand, why are you dating him then?"
