".... i will be there in a minute!" there was sothing in his voice that made her sting.
"Alright." he cut the call. There were no pleasantries, no affectionate words he usually shared with her. His cold voice made her flinch for a second.
When she reached her door, Victor was leaning on the wall with his eyes cold. His hands were folded in front of her chest. He looked exhausted. His face was so pale.
"Were you sick?" She took hasty steps and touched his cold cheeks. When his eyes opened, they were bloodshot and full of dark circles.
He stared at her with a conflicted gaze.
"If you are angry with , you can scold . Why are you worrying about yourself?" she sighed looking at him. She had lived a life and was more than a decade older to him to know his thoughts.
His eyes flickered and he closed his eyes again.
"So you do know what happened! That would make it easier." What would be easier? Her gaze shook! Could it be?
"No, I do not know. But your face is speaking. Can we go inside? Emma is not here." Victor nodded without opening his eyes. He followed her inside the room but did not sit on the sofa or took her in his arms like he usually did.
"So, what is worrying you so much?" Nora walked to the table and filled a glass of water for him. When she walked to him, he hesitated but still took the glass.
"My father took to et Alex’s father. I did not know they were sharing a business together. There, he asked about Alex. and I was told that he had an accident a few days ago..." he paused there and stared at her face. He wanted to see guilt there. Even panic would have been fine.
But all he saw her was staring back at him with such a calm gaze that baffled him. How could a young girl be so adept at lying? So adapt to hiding things. He was not sure when she was speaking truth to him and when she was lying anymore.
"That night, you left to look for Alex and suffered an attack. Coincidentally, Alex suffered an accident too. Do you not think it is too much of a coincidence." he hissed with venom in his voice as he raised the glass of water high. But in the end, he did not throw it. He closed his eyes and took many breaths to control his emotions.
"Nora, you still have ti. If you explain it to .."
"You will understand?" she cut him rcilessly.
"Even at this mont, you are accusing ?" he laughed hollowly. His eyes were full of disbelief and self mockery.
"No, I am only asking you? Would you believe it if I tell you the truth?" she took a step closer and wrapped her hands around his arm. He wanted to yank her away. He looked at her hands with a conflicted gaze. But in the end, he did not push her away.
Penny opened her mouth. She could not tell him that it was her second life. Even she would not believe it if soone else said that to her.
"I am working as Alric’s spy for Alex in exchange for money. It is a big amount I have taken from him. So, it is my duty to follow Alex." she started in a calm voice when she noticed his eyes widening. "But I will not lie anymore, Victor. I could have stopped after informing Alric. But I placed my life in danger to save Alex because he is a good friend.
He had helped and saved so many tis. I could not have waited there for help when he needed . I do not know what you have heard and what you believe. But I must tell you that Alex is only a friend. I would have done the sa for Lucy and Emma. those who had helped in anyways. I am indebted to them.
And when it cos to Alex. I have lied to him so many tis, yet he has protected . Even if my life was given, I could not pay the debt. But I can not give my life because I still have to take my revenge. I can not give up after coming this far. If you decide to leave now, I will not follow you or force you to accept . I will respect your decision." she nodded softly. From the start to the end, there was hardly any emotion in her voice.
Even when she talked about her revenge or giving her life, it did not seem like it was a big deal. As if the girl had given her life many tis already.
"Am i anything in your eyes?" he suddenly felt that the love he felt for her was nothing in her eyes. "I was told that you have sacrificed yourself to save him from an attack. But I did not doubt your relationship with Alex, Nora. What hurts is your lies! You do not trust enough to tell the truth.
You hide half of the things from and like a fool I close my eyes and feign ignorance. As if I do not matter enough to share the truth. Or you see as a worthless person who does not deserve to know the truth! Do you even care about my emotions or our relationships?" he laughed when she blinked as if he was foolish. Yes, he was only foolish in her eyes.
"Do you even know how it feels when a stranger informs about you! Even the ga.. Whose idea was it originally? How many other things you are hiding from , Nora. For god’s sake. Tell now or I will go crazy thinking about them? Do you not trust at all?" The more he spoke, the louder and harsher his voice beca. It showed his anguish and rage. But Nora just stood there stiffly staring at him.
"I can not do that!"
