Harry’s words, though direct, carried a subtlety that left one feeling helpless despite their directness.
But Edward understood Harry’s aning and didn’t insist on speaking with Helen.
Since Harry refused, it was obviously with Helen’s consent.
Since she is his sister, they will eventually et; there’s no rush at the mont.
Harry was right, right now, there were more important things that required his attention.
After hanging up, Edward directly sent a ssage in the family group chat, asking everyone to co ho early as he had sothing important to announce.
The Smith Family.
Charles Smith and Evelyn Taylor had long stopped managing family affairs, and their usual activities involved traveling or doing charity work at shelters, helping stray animals.
Being urgently called ho by their son for the first ti, Evelyn was quite pleased.
"I’m sure our son has finally co to his senses and is bringing his girlfriend ho."
Evelyn clung to her husband’s arm, her eyes shining with anticipation.
"What else could make him so eager to call us ho?"
Looking at the excitent in his wife’s eyes, Charles silently shook his head, not wanting to dampen her spirits.
He knew his son’s temperant well. If he suddenly claid to bring a girlfriend ho, he wouldn’t believe it even if beaten to death.
Despite his thoughts, as a man devoted to his wife and afraid of her wrath, Charles gently patted her hand and said:
"If you’re happy, that’s what matters."
Evelyn was indeed happy. At her age, she was eager to dote on grandchildren, yet her two sons were both aloof, not even knowing how to date.
She’s been so frustrated that she considered resorting to extres just to have grandchildren.
Now, thinking her eldest son brought ho a girlfriend, Evelyn was overjoyed, bouncing into the house like a 55-year-old girl.
Charles followed behind, watching her skip along, shaking his head with a smile.
To still have the heart of a child at her age was truly wonderful.
Edward was the first to arrive ho, sitting in the living room waiting for the rest of the family to return.
From a distance, he heard his mother’s cheerful laughter, and as he thought about the truth he was about to reveal, he frowned a bit, feeling reluctant.
"Edward, did you bring a girlfriend ho? Which family’s girl is so kind to solve this lifelong issue for you?"
Evelyn walked in happily, but upon seeing Edward alone on the sofa with no sign of a girl, her smile faded a bit.
"Edward, where’s your girlfriend?"
Edward put down the financial magazine in his hand, looking at Evelyn with resignation, "Mom, how many tis have I told you not to call that nickna?"
Evelyn didn’t seem to care, already annoyed at not seeing her son’s girlfriend.
When Charles ca in shortly after and saw his wife’s unhappy face, he knew there was trouble.
He hurried over, put his arm around Evelyn’s shoulders, and gave Edward a reproachful look, saying:
"Let your mom call you whatever she likes. It’s just a na. When she gave birth to you, she went through so much pain. Can’t she even decide how to call you?"
Edward: "..."
Alright, whatever makes you happy.
"Dad, Mom, the reason I hurriedly called you back is that I have sothing more important to tell you than finding a wife."
