In the Japanese restaurant, Lin Ruixian looked at Gu Ningyue, whose expression had changed after returning from a phone call, sowhat puzzled: "What’s wrong? Is sothing the matter?"

Gu Ningyue nodded, then denied: "It’s nothing, just ran into a lunatic."

Her son, who didn’t know who he had provoked outside, was now hospitalized after being slashed, and insisted it was her doing.

If it were really her, Gu Heng would have long lost his life, how could he have called her for help?

She was not that incompetent.

"Oh, I see!" Lin Ruixian took a sip of tea at his side, smiled and asked, "What about your friend who ca last ti? How co you’re alone this ti?"

Gu Ningyue retorted: "Why? Interested in my friend?"

Lin Ruixian shook his head: "Not at all, just thought it’s inconvenient for you to manage alone."

Gu Ningyue reached out and put a sushi in her mouth, "It’s quite convenient, it’ll be fine in a few days."

Lin Ruixian didn’t speak, just observed her expression and said: "Do you know why I brought you here?"

"Probably..." Gu Ningyue muttered as she ate: "Because it’s been a long ti since it was open, and you were too bored?"

Lin Ruixian raised an eyebrow: "Well, saying it like that, it’s also a reason!"

Gu Ningyue ate another piece and picked up another one.

This taste, indeed, Lin Ruixian’s recipe suited her palate better.

"So, there are other reasons?"

Although she could sowhat guess this reason, she couldn’t help but ask further.

Because she wanted to see what answer Lin Ruixian would give.

To her, Lin Ruixian was indeed quite an interesting being.

This presence was as equal to Ling Tianyou’s early curiosity about her.

But, she had no intention of harming Ling Tianyou, yet Lin Ruixian was indeed a dangerous ’item’.

Flammable, explosive.

"You remind of an old acquaintance." Lin Ruixian looked at Gu Ningyue and said leisurely: "Though you two don’t look alike, your aura is sowhat reminiscent. Especially those eyes, at a key mont, I thought she had co back to life."

Gu Ningyue nearly choked on the sushi in her mouth, took a sip of tea and asked: "So, your acquaintance has passed away? Were you close?"

Indeed, he still rembered her past life.

She was sure the person Lin Ruixian ntioned was her.

Lin Ruixian nodded, "She has passed."

"As for whether we were close, it depends on how you define it."

"If working alongside life or death is considered close, then yes."

Gu Ningyue smiled softly, "Since you’ve shared life and death experiences, naturally it’s close! That’s a friendship forged through life."

Lin Ruixian was taken aback, "She also ntioned this, but I don’t quite agree."

Gu Ningyue paused in her sushi bite, had she really said that? How could she not rember?

"Why don’t you agree?" Gu Ningyue looked at him and asked: "You can tell , perhaps our thoughts align?"

Lin Ruixian rubbed the teacup, looked at her and said: "Actually, there’s not much to it. That acquaintance and I were rely partners; if it were another person, she wouldn’t simply watch them die without intervention. Since it was rely a partnership, where cos the closeness?"

Lin Ruixian’s few words made Gu Ningyue slightly bow her head, indeed, Lin Ruixian was still the sa as before.

In his view, she only blocked that knife for him because they were partners.

"You have a point." Gu Ningyue raised her gaze, her eyes had a changed emotion: "Contracts only generate interests, not emotions."

But, at that ti, saving him was simply because they were already friends, wasn’t it?

"She only seed smart." Lin Ruixian, recalling sothing, spoke with an almost nostalgic voice: "She was actually quite foolish, otherwise she wouldn’t have lost her life so young."

Gu Ningyue’s eyes narrowed, what did Lin Ruixian an by this?

Did he know sothing she didn’t?

"May I ask boldly, how did she pass away?" Gu Ningyue asked: "Did sothing unexpected happen?"

Lin Ruixian didn’t respond imdiately, and after a long while he said: "For her, it all should have been unexpected."

Gu Ningyue’s heart skipped a beat, indeed, just like her discovery at the Gate of Hell, there were hidden truths.

Gu Ningyue’s fingers involuntarily curled into a fist, her heartbeat quickening: "Seems like she ant a lot to you."

Lin Ruixian suddenly laughed, "aning a lot is rather an overstatent, just sotis feeling confused, thinking if I had stopped her back then, perhaps everything would be different. She wouldn’t have died, and I wouldn’t have left that place."

Gu Ningyue’s eyes flashed with a hint of light, she asked again: "How did she die?"

Lin Ruixian raised his gaze towards her, locking eyes with her intense stare: "She was killed by the person closest to her. That was the path she chose, with no turning back."

Gu Ningyue’s mind flashed her master’s face, that stunningly beautiful visage.

No, how could it be? Her master would never harm her!

"What’s the matter with you? Why do you look so pale?"

Lin Ruixian looked at her face, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.

Gu Ningyue quickly shook her head, lowered her head and said: "It’s nothing, my brother was slashed and hospitalized, I have to go! Thank you for the sushi, I’ll co back to support you in a few days!"

Gu Ningyue said this and stood up.

Lin Ruixian seeing it did not insist she stay, only advised: "Take care, it’s easier to get a taxi by crossing that alleyway after leaving. I’ll refrain from sending you off!"

Gu Ningyue nodded, "You’re too kind, goodbye!"

Leaving Lin Ruixian’s shop, Gu Ningyue took a taxi directly to Gu Heng’s hospital.

Following Lin Ruixian’s suggested route, Gu Ningyue indeed found getting a taxi much easier this ti.

Sitting in the taxi, Gu Ningyue leaned against the seat, pondering Lin Ruixian’s words.

She was killed by the person closest to her? Initially, the task was assigned to her master, but since the master couldn’t go, she accepted it.

Before this, how did that task reach her master?

The entire organization, as expected, only allowed entry after rigorous examinations.

Not saying everyone was like brothers, but they did collaborate.

Did she offend soone within, thus they wanted her dead?

But among those she collaborated with, aside from Lin Ruixian, there was no one else.

Halfway through the taxi ride, Gu Ningyue’s phone rang again.

It was Gu Zheng!

Gu Ningyue dismissed the call, set her phone to silent, and put it in her pocket.

Forget it, better to focus on the task at hand!

She had barely returned ho, and Gu Heng was already caught in such a ss.

And Gu Zheng said over the phone, that it was her doing?

Looks like soone deliberately wanted to fra her!
