Facing Gu Zheng’s reprimand, Gu Wanwan suddenly felt a wave of grievance: "Dad, you can’t even manage Xiao Heng, how could I? Today he ca to ask for money, saying he needed it to pay off debts!"

Gu Zheng was taken aback, "When did he owe money again? I just gave him a hundred thousand yesterday! That beast!"

Gu Wanwan was already used to Gu Heng’s outrageous lies, but after Li Yulan was hospitalized, she never expected he would dare to ask Gu Zheng for money.

For a mont, Gu Wanwan regretted saying that to Gu Zheng.

"Maybe after paying off the debt, he needed so money for daily expenses!" Gu Wanwan changed her tone: "It wasn’t much..."

Despite her words, Gu Zheng was still furious: "Call him imdiately and tell him to co back. His mother’s been in the hospital for so long, yet he’s out there fooling around. How did I raise such an ungrateful son!"

Seeing how angry he was, Gu Wanwan dared not challenge Gu Zheng’s will and quickly took out her phone to call Gu Heng.

Gu Heng, whether engrossed in gambling at a club or engaged in so other activity, did not answer after several rings.

Gu Wanwan looked helplessly: "Dad, no one’s answering..."

She already knew her brother was unreliable, but now that she was the Young Madam of the Ye Family, she no longer had to worry about him every day.

Thinking of this brought a hint of happiness to Gu Wanwan’s heart.

Gu Zheng took the phone and personally called Gu Heng.

This ti, the call went through.

Before Gu Zheng could explode, a scream ca from the other end: "Dad, save ! Co quickly! Gu Ningyue is trying to kill ! Ahhhhh—"

Hearing the blood-curdling scream, both Gu Zheng and Gu Wanwan were stunned.

"Xiao Heng, what’s wrong? Where are you now?" Gu Zheng quickly asked as he regained composure.

Gu Heng continued to scream, "I’m on Tongque Road in the West District! Dad, I’m on Tongque Road in the West District!"

Though surprised by this sudden turn of events, Gu Zheng still called soone to rush to Tongque Road.

Gu Wanwan helped Gu Zheng downstairs, and the butler drove them both to the West District, where they were left dumbfounded by the scene before them.

Gu Heng lay motionless in a pool of blood, seemingly without a pulse.

Paradics were getting out of the ambulance and running toward him, surrounded by a chaos of onlookers.

Gu Zheng wavered, almost collapsing.

Quick to react, Gu Wanwan supported him by the arm: "Dad, stay strong!"

Gu Zheng steadied his emotions and, as the car holding Gu Heng was about to leave, he stepped forward to grab a doctor and asked, "How is he? Is he alright?"

The doctor, wearing a white coat, looked grim: "Are you his family? If you’re here, get on the ambulance with us!"

The two of them got in the car, Gu Zheng’s face pale, and Gu Wanwan’s expression tense: "Doctor, is my brother going to be okay? He won’t..."

The doctor shook his head: "He’s been stabbed five tis and is losing a lot of blood. We’ll need to see the final results."

Looking at the blood-soaked sheets, the sll of blood in the car nearly made Gu Wanwan nauseous.

Tears welled in her eyes, and she seed about to cry: "Dad... Sister is too terrifying, if sothing happens to Xiao Heng..."

Gu Zheng’s mind was in disarray; staring at Gu Heng, he could barely comprehend his own thoughts: "If anything happens to Xiao Heng, I swear I’ll take her life!"

Gu Wanwan sighed, lowered her head, and pursed her lips, saying nothing.

They finally reached the hospital, and Gu Heng was rushed into the ergency room, leaving Gu Zheng and Gu Wanwan waiting outside for what felt like forever before a doctor ca out: "Doctor, how’s my son?"

The doctor, sweat beading on his forehead, spoke hoarsely: "He was resuscitated, but one of the stabs hit his spleen. You should go and complete the admission procedures."

Relieved to hear that Gu Heng was still alive, Gu Zheng quietly let out a breath: "Alright!"

When Gu Wanwan returned after handling the paperwork, she saw Gu Zheng on the phone with soone, "How could I have a daughter so cruel? Even if Xiao Heng’s not your full brother, he’s still your sibling. How could you have him attacked? It’s not you? Xiao Heng’s lying in the ICU!"

Standing beside him, as Gu Zheng struggled to contain his anger, an unexpected pang of sadness crossed Gu Wanwan’s heart.

If it were her lying there today, would Gu Zheng make this call for her?

All her life, compared to Gu Ningyue, she indeed had a better life by leaps and bounds.

But all of this ca through her own hard work.

Gu Heng, on the other hand, easily obtained the things she desired but couldn’t have.

This had never bothered her much before, but as she faced obstacles in marrying Ye Mingchen, it beca increasingly apparent.

After Gu Zheng ended the call, Gu Wanwan approached quietly: "Dad, the paperwork is done. We can’t visit Xiao Heng yet, so shall we go ho?"

Gu Zheng turned to look at this seemingly docile daughter, a trace of disdain in his eyes: "Go ho? Your sister will be here soon!"

He had dominated the business world for a lifeti, but how did he end up with three children like these?

The eldest daughter was ntally unstable and constantly rebellious.

The second daughter’s reputation was ruined, and even her marriage required him to give her money.

The only son was addicted to gambling and was now in the hospital.

And his current, only wife lay unconscious, possibly never to wake again.

Gu Wanwan lowered her head, feeling uncertain and lost.

A few minutes later, Gu Wanwan’s phone rang: "Hello? Dr. Chen. What? My mother is awake? Yes, okay, I’m on my way!"

After hanging up, a glimr of hope appeared in her previously gloomy heart: "Dad, Mom’s awake!"

She had all but lost hope, especially at this mont. But suddenly, a miracle happened.

Upon hearing it, a glint of light appeared in Gu Zheng’s eyes as well: "Really? Let’s go see your mom first!"

Gu Wanwan nodded gravely and helped Gu Zheng to Li Yulan’s ward.

It was fortunate they were in the sa hospital, which made things easier for Gu Zheng.

At the door, a nurse stopped the two trying to enter: "Please wait a mont, Mr. Gu; a check-up is being done for Madam Gu inside, and you’ll be able to enter shortly."

Gu Zheng nodded, "Alright."

It was enough that she’d woken up; he didn’t mind waiting a bit longer.

After so ti, a doctor ca out: "Mr. Gu, we can transfer her to a regular ward after two more days for observation."

Gu Zheng was relieved to hear it: "Thank you, doctor!"
