Chapter 545: Chapter 545: Revealing Her True Origins
“Keep your voice down!” Wu Xuehan reached over to cover Yu Sui’s mouth.
Yu Sui ignored her and looked directly at Tang Li: “You and Lai Yuaner are biological sisters, how can your treatnt be like night and day? And why don’t you share the surna…”
The word “Lai” choked in her throat as she realized sothing.
Wu Xuehan dragged Yu Sui out of the bathroom.
“You talk too much.” Wu Xuehan was slightly displeased, shoving a handful of chips into Yu Sui’s mouth: “Ah Li can take whatever last na she wants. It’s none of your business.”
After washing her hands, Tang Li ca out to find Wu Xuehan lecturing the talkative Yu Sui.
Seeing her, Wu Xuehan imdiately ran over: “I’ve already reprimanded Yu Sui. She won’t blab about it outside.”
Among the three, Wu Xuehan and Yu Sui had nothing to hide from each other, but in comparison, Tang Li felt like a black hole in their eyes, unfathomable. She never shared too much of her private life with them, even if it was hard to talk about, the fact remained that they hadn’t truly confided in one another.
Tang Li pulled up a chair and sat across from Wu Xuehan and Yu Sui.
Facing those two pairs of puzzled eyes, she took a mont to compose herself, then spoke: “I am Lai Wenyan’s illegitimate daughter, and I carry my mother’s surna. A few years ago, my mother passed away, and that’s when I ca to the Capital. The Lai Family People don’t think much of , so I rarely go back to the Lai Family now.”
Wu Xuehan had heard a brief account from Tang Li last year, so she was prepared, unlike Yu Sui who seed strangely affected.
“My maternal grandfather’s family is not in a good position, so I won’t elaborate on that. As for my mother…”
ntioning Tang Yin, Tang Li’s speech paused, then she spoke honestly: “My mother was a nurse at a hospital in a town in Diannan. Later, by accident, she contracted the HIV virus. She then took to live in the countryside. Around three years ago, her health deteriorated more and more, and before she died, she told that my father was Lai Wenyan and asked to go to the Capital to seek him out.”
There was a mont of silence in the dormitory.
Tang Li continued: “I stayed with the Lai Family for two years. My father and grandmother disliked , and the one I had the most friction with was Lai Yuaner. When I chose to act, indeed, I had the mind to outshine her.
In novels and TV shows, soone like would be the typical villainous female supporting character — the illegitimate child who still wants to compete with the legitimate offspring. The Lai Family kindly took in, and yet I kept causing them trouble; if I’m not the classic ungrateful wolf, then what am I?”
“But you never intentionally hard Lai Yuaner.” Yu Sui scratched her cheek. “It’s always Lai Yuaner who looks for trouble first, either buying trolls to attack you or trying to cause you to have so accident. There’s a saying, ‘The instigator is the scoundrel.’ She’s the one digging pits for herself to fall into; no one else is to bla.”
Wu Xuehan chid in: “If it weren’t for your aunt being severely ill, you probably would have never disclosed your father’s identity. I think your mother didn’t want to destroy soone else’s family; otherwise, she would have kept you with her in the Capital.”
Yu Sui nodded: “Your mother’s experience is more like soone who was deceived by a man and found out the truth after being wronged, choosing then to take her child and leave everything behind.”
Suddenly, Tang Li asked: “Aren’t you afraid I carry the HIV virus?”
Wu Xuehan took a piece of jerky from the snack bag, chewed it a few tis, and looked at Tang Li: “Have you contracted it?”
Upon hearing Tang Li say no, she continued: “Since you weren’t infected before, there’s certainly no problem now. If Yu Sui is scared, we can have her move out.”
Yu Sui: “…”
