Chapter 1023: New Body

“Fine, let’s do it then.”

Rael paused for a moment.

“Really?”

“Yes, really. Let’s do it. I don’t want to regret it, so just do it right away. We can finish our conversation afterwards, yeah?” Eve replied and then closed her eyes, extending her arms as she fully expected him to just cast some kind of magic spell on her.

But instead, Rael just stared at her, confused by her eagerness. Regardless, he decided to act. Rael closed his eyes and then focused back on the area where she was buried, turning back hundreds of years until finally, he found her form at the time of her death.

And that also meant the body had not yet begun to depose, so Rael quickly reinforced it with all the necessities it would need. Immortality, dozens of Laws, and even Grade 10 strength, making her no weaker than Lilith herself.

Afterwards, Rael went ahead and teleported that body over to their current location. Seeing her own body, Eve felt a little strange. Sure, it was all cold and dead and whatnot, but for it to be in such pristine condition, and even powerful… It was a bit hard to understand how something like that could be possible.

But then again, if anyone could do it, it was her daughter’s husband. The body was enveloped in several layers of protective mana, its color restored, and its blood flow significantly enhanced, nearly to the highest degree.

And once Rael was done, he stared at what he had done before glancing over to Eve and smiling.

“Close your eyes for a second. I’m not sure if it’ll hurt, but just in case, prepare yourself. I’ll start in exactly three seconds after you close your eyes,” Rael announced.

With that, she closed her eyes almost instantly and inwardly counted down. In the meantime, Rael glanced over to Lilith, who was staring at both of them with a helpless look. She didn’t really have much of a say in it to begin with, as it was her mother’s choice.

So all she could do now was be the daughter she had always wished to be.

Finally, Rael took a deep breath and carefully grabbed Eve’s soul. Since her current form was already just her soul, it wasn’t difficult by any means. He dissolved her current form, transferred it into a small marble, and then inserted it inside the body.

The process was fairly straightforward. He made sure to isolate the body and make the soul its sole inhabitant. Since this literally was her body, just slightly enhanced, there was no rejection. The soul dissolved and was reabsorbed into the body before Rael knew it.

And so, within just a few minutes, Rael took a few steps back and stared patiently. The body didn’t need to be propped up with his mana anymore. Instead, the muscles were functioning enough to make that possible.

Muscle memory in general seemed to keep her upright. But notably, it was still a little odd for her to feel everything again. Not to mention, she was much more powerful than she had been before she died. It made her reconsider her past self. If there were beings that could make her so powerful without her even needing to lift a finger, where were they when she was alive?

Despite that, she eventually opened her eyes and glanced at her hands. The sensation was odd, sure, but it was also very familiar. It only took her a few minutes to get adjusted to the feeling again.

Not to mention, she now had extra memories. Those memories consisted of several dozen Laws and even some skills she had never had before. However, everything else remained the same, and that much she appreciated.

“Well, well, well. I guess I’m quite the looker, aren’t I? Do you think I could make your father fall for me again?” Eve asked, staring at the shocked Lilith.

“Ah? M-Maybe?” Lilith wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. “Is that it…? That fast, and you’re back? Are you really back?”

She was acting like some kind of child. This side of her, Rael had never seen before. At least, not when she was so blatantly trying to resist her childlike state, while also holding back tears as she stared at her mother.

“Now, now, I told you not to cry,” Eve said with a sigh. “Cry only when you’ve been wronged. Remember? Tsk. Do you hate your mother so much that you cry over her being back? My… If I had known that, I would’ve chosen otherwise.”

“That might be a little much,” Rael chimed in, then coughed. “There’s plenty that you two need to catch up on, so both of you should just spend some time together. I know it might be a bit difficult to accept the circumstances, but Eve, you’re now alive. As for Lilith, your mother is now alive.”

He paused for a moment.

“She might not have the memories of everything that happened after her death, especially with that fragment that existed, but I can assure you, she’s still the same woman you knew before her death.”

“Fragment? Ah, you’re talking about that one? I saw a portion of my soul floating around, so I consumed it. I haven’t absorbed it yet, though — should I?” Eve said out of nowhere.

Both of them turned to her.

“You have what now…?” Rael made sure he was hearing it right. “You got the fragment but you haven’t absorbed it yet? Where? How?”

“Absorb it,” Lilith said. “There are a lot of memories in that fragment, and they’re the memories of my slightly older self. I used to always visit your grave and speak my mind. So please, absorb those memories.”

It was like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. She had been sulking ever since she found out the soul fragment was gone… but if it wasn’t really gone, then?

“Hmm… Alright. I’ll do it.”
