Sharon’s POV—
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in a forest. Dizziness hit again, causing my view to spin again. I rubbed my forehead with my hand and tried to sit up. As I moved myself into a sitting position, I observed my surroundings. This forest... I know it very well. I saw it in my dream. How in the fucking hell I can be here?! Shouldn’t it exist in my dream only?
Ok, calm down. Let’s just say that this forest is real. Nah, it is real. So, that ans... my dream is real as well.
Sighing deeply, I rubbed my hands on my face. It’s really confusing.
No, I am wrong. The dream was real but at the sa ti, it wasn’t real. A kind of paradoxical phenonon.
’System?’
It didn’t answer . I called again.

It didn’t answer . Hah! I am an idiot to think that it would help . I got up and observed my surroundings more carefully. Sitting here won’t help . The faint moonlight illuminated the forest, making the trees seem taller. The shadows cast by them engulfed the area wherever they fell. With a sigh, I started walking.
A faint sound was made by the grass when pressed by . Upon ti to ti, I could hear rustling sounds from the bushes near .
I stopped in front of a tree and began climbing it. For now, I should also consider an aerial view. It would really help see things more clearly.
Climbing the tree, I stood on a tall and sturdy branch, and tried to take a look... but it was useless. All I can see was, endless trees whose leaves seed almost black due to the lack of light. It was making more and more restless. Does this forest have no end? Or, maybe I am seeing an illusion?
I pinched myself to check. Ouch! Ah, it’s real. I jumped down from the tree and resud walking.
On both of my sides, there were countless mushrooms that seed highly poisonous but they emitted a faint alluring sll. Its purpose is to confuse any living being into eating it. How did I know? Most of the mushrooms in these types of forest are always poisonous.
*Rustle* I stopped walking. I imdiately went into my ’vigilant’ mode and checked my surroundings. *Rustle* The sound intensified.
Conjuring a sword, I prepared myself. Suddenly, I felt sothing wrap around my legs. Before I could look at it, I was thrown across the forest.
My back collided with a tree, making grit my teeth in pain. There were evident cracks on its trunk. I stood up and tried to find my attacker.
The sa sound bombarded in my ear. All of a sudden, my hand was grabbed and I was hurled across the forest once again.
I hit against the ground and rolled on it until I hit the mushroom.
Wait! The mushroom doesn’t seem to be this sturdy. How the fuck can it stop ? I looked at it and found my soul leave my body. It had two eyes and a mouth, which was smiling at as if I was its friend. I quickly scrambled away and raised my sword, only to find that it was missing.
The mushroom opened its mouth and screeched loudly. Fuck! Countless vines shot from its body and rushed towards . Ah, the vines! So, all this ti I was attacked by a mushroom!
I imdiately leapt in the air and conjured five knives in my hand and threw them. The vines blocked them by creating a wall made up of those accursed vines.
Landing on the ground, I conjured a sword. Dodging the vines, I jumped into the air and landed in front of it. I quickly slashed away the vines and cut the mushroom into two parts.
"Fuck! I have never seen these types of mushrooms anywhere."
A shiver ran down my spine when rembered my condition. Aren’t there too many mushrooms around ?
"Ah! No!!"
I ran my gaze across them and found them already smiling at . Then they screeched loudly, and I an, all... at once. Nurous vines shot towards . Without any thought, I dashed.
"Cyaaaahhhhh!!!!"
"Cyaaaahhhhh!!!!"
All of them even screeched loudly, prompting to close my ears. Even if I not dead, my ears will certainly not survive, this assault.
A vine wrapped around my arm, making slash it with my sword. Another vine wrapped around my ankle which I tore open with my hand.
As I was running, the vines were already waiting for in front of . I stopped suddenly, which prompted them to rush towards . I imdiately changed the direction but found them to be present there as well.
There is no way I can fight all these at once. Argh, at this rate I am gonna get caught by them.
"Wait!!" I yelled loudly.
The vines stopped. Huh? It was an impulse but... they stopped. My eyes were filled with disbelief.
"You can hear ?! No, you can understand ?!" I asked incredulously.
A childish voice said, "Yes, we can."
"Hey! We shouldn’t talk to our food," said another childish voice.
"We are hungry!"
"After so much ti, I am seeing a good slling food!"
Childish voices overlapped with one another, as I stood their dazed. Talking mushrooms? Hmmm... then what? Will I see a talking cat?
"Hey! Kiddos!"
The vines turned towards .
"What you want to say? Food, I don’t like to talk much!" A bratty voice was echoed through the forest.
"You want to eat ?" I asked foolishly. What the fuck am I asking?
"Are you an idiot? Food, you shouldn’t talk much." A voice warned .
I nodded, "Yes, you are right! But how will you eat ?"
"By tearing you apart." It’s the sa childish voice.
"Are you transmitting your voice through these vines?" I couldn’t help but ask them.
"Yes."
"Why are we talking with it? Let’s rip it open. I haven’t tasted flesh and blood for almost a decade."
I raised my hand and nodded. I said, "Yes, I know you all are hungry. And I, for one, don’t like to be hungry. So, I can understand your pain. It’s a suffering that no one should go through. It makes us lose our rationality. So, yes... little mushrooms, I understand your pain."
"Stop your blabbering! Why are you talking so much? A food like you should not talk to us like that."
I frantically shook my head. "I know, it’s blatant insolence... I know. But it’s my moral duty to inform you mushrooms that I don’t taste good. Look at , ha-ha... so frail and weak! Look at my thin arms! I didn’t even stand chance against you powerful and alluring little mushrooms."
"Don’t call us little!!"
"Yes, I got it. I am sorry, big mushrooms!"
"We don’t care about your taste. We just want to eat you," said a new voice. It was a cool and calm voice, albeit sounded like a child who tried to be cool.
"It’s not about , big mushrooms! It’s about you all!"
"About... us?"
"Yeah, how can I bear to let you eat a creature like ? And above that, I am just a one tiny human! How can I fill your belly? By the way, how many of you are?"

Fuck! How the hell can I fight all these mushrooms at once? I nodded and said, "I just fear this thing only. I don’t want any of you to be wronged."
"The food is right! How will we share it?"
"We are too many!"
"I will get the large piece!"

"I will be the one! I am hungrier that all of you!"
"Then, I am more-more hungrier than you!"

The vines, or the mushrooms started fighting with each other. With slow and light steps, I started walking away from all this chaos.
Just as I walked so steps, a voice behind yelled loudly, "HEY! LOOK THE FOOD IS ESCAPING!" They screeched and shot towards .
Ti to run!!! I started running with all my strength. Tearing through the forest, I used all of my stamina to run away from these weird creatures.
They were not giving up and chased all the way through the forest. After running for almost an hour, I found myself reaching the end of the forest. For a mont, I looked back and saw those accursed vines to be still following .
As I got out of the forest, I reached an open space but I couldn’t stop. Those vines till followed . At that mont, I saw a waterfall ahead . Fuck! I have to stop! I was running so hard that even when I stopped, I almost fell into it due to the inertia.
*Screech* I turned back and saw the vines were on the verge of catching . Clenching my jaw, I closed my eyes. It looks like that I have no choice. Taking a deep breath, I jumped into the waterfall.
