Sahir may live in an Immortal world, but he was only a Root Ascension Stage cultivator. He hadn’t even formed his Core yet, so naturally, going against Immortal Lords was far beyond his level.

He had suffered to get this job, and so despite the daily verbal abuse he received from customers who came to dine at the Everyday Inn Restaurant, he never dreamt of quitting.

He knew it would be hard for a mortal like him to find another decent job like this.

Customers came and went, many unleashing loads of insults on him before leaving.

But he endured it all like a man until today, when he was being forced to go down on all fours so his back could serve as a table to hold the dishes the six youngsters had ordered.

All six of them were core disciples of the Grand Arcane Mage Sect, so they held some power. The sect was their backer, and knowing their reputation, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched if they ordered the demolition of the restaurant.

So the owner, despite the unreasonable request they had made, had no choice but to oblige.

"Sahir, just do as they say, and it will be over soon," Lady Abba said, her expression showing how sorry she was for ordering one of her workers, perhaps her favorite, to bee a table for the unreasonable High Mages.

"You heard the woman. Go down on your knees and bee our table. We are willing to throw in 10,000 Spirit Stones as a tip for your hard work," Cole said, wearing a mocking expression.

"Don’t be an ungrateful brat. Our offer is one-of-a-kind. A mere mortal like you doesn’t even qualify to stand before us, so you should be thankful we are willing to put your miserable life to good use."

Fanicia, one of the best High Mages in the Grand Arcane Mage Sect, shouted at Sahir, who stood his ground, not budging despite the dozens of eyes on him.

He just wouldn’t do it, and that could be seen in his eyes.

He could endure all kinds of humiliation, but this had crossed his bottom line. He would not bee a table, and that could be seen and sensed from him.

"I am sorry, Lady Abba. I appreciate you employing me, but I suppose today is the day I quit," he sighed, then turned away and started to walk off.

Many who were disgusted by the behavior of the six High Mages sighed and smiled at Sahir’s resolve. They even gave him a thumbs-up for not allowing himself to be humiliated.

However, perhaps they shouldn’t have celebrated so early. Just when Sahir had taken his fifth step, a spell circle appeared beneath his feet, and chains burst out, grabbing hold of his legs, hands, and neck.

In an instant, Sahir’s body was locked down.

"Who said you could leave, bastard?" Fanicia shouted, her arms moving in a graceful arc as thousands of ice needles formed and pointed at Sahir’s head.

He was pletely locked down, unable to even lift a finger. As a mortal, facing an Immortal Lord meant death, and Sahir knew that. However, instead of trying to break free, he remained calm, his eyes closed.

He had accepted his fate, and if he were to be frank with himself, death at this point was the easiest way out. Life had been cruel to him, and so death would at least end it all.

Cole, Steven, Fiona, Gideon, and Dina smiled as they watched Fanicia lock Sahir down.

"Please, kindly spare him. He is just a kid who doesn’t know how to appreciate the kindness of his seniors." Lady Abba pleaded, her body trembling as she looked at the coldness in Fanicia’s eyes.

The young lady smirked at Lady Abba and then waved her hand, pulling Sahir back and causing his body to slam into a chair beside her. His head struck the knob of the chair, drawing blood.

Sahir clutched his head as pain from the impact traveled through his body.

Lady Abba staggered back, her expression pale as she stared at the sight of Sahir bleeding. Tears fell from her eyes. She was a nobody, even if she owned a restaurant.

Just like Sahir, she was also a failed mage who wanted to live for herself. So, with the little she had, she opened a restaurant, and thanks to her good menu, it became popular rather quickly.

Later, she employed people just like her—people whose dreams had been cut short because they couldn’t meet the standards of the cultivation world.

Sahir was one of her best workers, but now, as he lay at the mercy of the High Mage, all she could do was helplessly stare at him.

Tears rolled down her face, and when their gazes met, she silently conveyed how sorry she was to Sahir.

"I am sorry, kid," she muttered.

"Bastard, I gave you a chance, but you clearly don’t appreciate my kindness. Now, I will teach you a lesson," Fanicia waved her hand, and the needles she had formed moved, aiming to cripple Sahir for good.

However, just before the needles could get within four inches of Sahir, a cold breeze swept past everyone, and the needles shattered. Then a voice, cold and deadly, spoke, instantly filling the restaurant with an overwhelming killing intent.

"There are always those who, against all odds, choose to court death."

BANG!

The restaurant’s door exploded inward, and Kent walked through, his steps leaving a trail of ice on the floor. Every step he took caused the restaurant to tremble.

The six High Mages froze in place, their expressions turning pale as Kent approached them. They felt a heavy pressure descend upon their shoulders, the kind they could not shrug off, no matter how hard they tried.

Unfortunately for them, Kent had no intention of letting them leave today. With every step he took, the pressure pressing down on them multiplied.

By the time he stopped beside Sahir, all six of them were on the ground, their bodies pressed flat against the tiled floor.

Kent gazed down at Fanicia, whose expression had turned pale white.

"You dare hurt my brother?" he muttered coldly, and with a wave of his hand, a spear shot forward and pierced her head, killing her instantly.

He then turned and looked at the five remaining High Mages, a faint smirk appearing on his face.

He crouched down and looked at Sahir.

A smile appeared on Kent’s face when their gazes met.

"Life hasn’t been good to you, huh, buddy?" Kent asked.

Despite having no idea who Kent was, Sahir nodded.

It was only after he nodded that he realized what he had done, but by then it was already too late. This made him bee confused.

Kent smirked and said, "Same here, buddy. I lived a miserable life for thirty-two years before everything finally turned around for me. Now, I am living the best time of my life and soon, you’ll too."

He reached forward and offered his hand to Sahir, who, once again, accepted it without knowing why.

It was as though he could trust Kent pletely despite this being their first meeting.

Kent pulled him to his feet, and then, with a wave of his hand, a chain flew toward them. He placed it in Sahir’s hands.

"I am proud of you, buddy. You refused to be humiliated any further. That shows character, and I admire that.

"However, for daring to humiliate my brother, I, Kent Madson, will kill all of you. And whoever dares e seeking revenge will be dealt with accordingly."

Kent waved his hand, and five spears appeared.

Before anyone could plead on behalf of the five High Mages, the spears shot forward.

The five of them felt a sharp pain flash through their minds as the spears pierced their heads.

A moment later, five lifeless bodies collapsed onto the floor.
