"Sage, you know, this time I feel like I won’t be returning from this battle," a young man with short blue hair and blue eyes said, his expression helpless.

Judging by the coldness around him and the fact that he has an ice tattoo on his forehead, it was clear that his understanding of the ice element is very high.

He grabbed his jug and gulped down the entire contents.

Seated across from him, a handsome half-elf with flowing green hair, a lean physique, and a pair of round eyeglasses resting on his face smiled and also drank his wine.

"That is not the way to start the day, Sahir," Sage said with a smile. "You are one of the best mages in the universe. If anything, you should be worried about the heroic wele you will receive after you dispose of those Ice Demons."

Sahir smiled and shook his head. "Easy for you to say, Sage. You are the smartest man in the world, and on top of that, you are also a legendary alchemist. But we both know that is merely a front for who you really are, Kevin Sage."

Sahir narrowed his eyes at the half-elf and added, "You are the legendary White Knight, an existence that even the greatest warriors of this era couldn’t measure up to."

Sage smiled and shook his head. "And you are Sahir, the greatest Ice Mage I have ever met. You are a legend, dude, in case you are not aware. You are also a Celestial Supreme and the wielder of a sacred ice. If anything, you will be proving to the Ice Demons what kind of monster you really are."

Sahir smiled and nodded after hearing what his friend said.

To the rest of the universe, Kevin Sage claimed he was merely an alchemist and the smartest man alive, but Sahir knew a different side of him—one that even Pill Celestial Zathoriel Prime had no idea about, until Kevin’s final moment.

During the Ice Age, when the Ice Demons invaded the universe, a legendary knight known as the White Knight, named after the color of his armor, stood at the vanguard, protecting the universe from all kinds of dangers.

In fact, he was the greatest warrior of that era, and Sahir was his best friend, the one to whom Kevin had revealed almost everything about himself.

They shared a deep bond, one that transcended mere friendship.

"You know what, Sage? I think we should bee sworn brothers. I long ago promised to fight by your side, and if I had to die to ensure your quest succeeds, I wouldn’t bat an eye.

"However, what would make me sad is dying without having a real brother. So let’s bee sworn brothers in blood, and if we return alive, I will convince my sister to marry you."

Sahir said with a smile, causing Kevin Sage to smirk.

"Still very shameless, huh?" Kevin laughed, but then he proceeded to slash his palm, drawing blood. Sahir did the same, and they shook hands.

Kevin Sage spoke some strange words, and their blood mixed, forming the tattoo of a spider on each other’s arms. "In the next life, I will look for you, Sahir. Just make sure you die in a dignified way."

Sahir nodded with a smile. When nobody believed he could ever bee a mage, Pill Celestial Kevin Sage did, and that led him to bee one of the best.

Years later, during the climax of the battle, to kill two Pseudo-Primordial Ice Demon Generals, Sahir burned his soul and life force, unleashing the greatest spell the universe had ever seen.

"Ice Emperor’s Descent."

That technique not only killed two Pseudo-Primordials but also bought Kevin Sage enough time to push back the remaining Ice Demon Generals and seal the Ice Gate.

Sahir, or as they call him to this day, the Ice Emperor, was the sole reason the Ice Age survived. He sacrificed his life to save everyone.

On his dying breath, he smiled and muttered, "Being one of the good guys is indeed terrible."

---

A young man with short blue hair jolted awake from his sleep, his brow soaked in sweat.

"No, that dream again," he muttered, moving his body to sit at the edge of his bed.

He used his right hand to wipe the sweat off his brow and sighed. Then he turned and looked at a black-and-white uniform hanging on the wall and smirked.

"Why do I still have that hanging there, taking up space? It’s not like I would ever bee a mage."

He threw another smirk at the uniform as though its presence was a constant reminder of his failure to join one of the mage sects on Planet Dormaa.

He tried several times, but he was always met with the same sentence:

"Your affinity for ice is the lowest I have ever seen."

And with such a response, rejection inevitably followed.

After several tries and failures, he gave up and took a job as a server at a prominent restaurant, where he worked his ass off for a few spirit stones.

After freshening up, he quickly made his way out and, after a twenty-minute trek, arrived at the Everyday Inn Restaurant. He quickly fixed his appearance and started serving customers and taking orders.

Two hours into his shift, the gate opened, and a group of youngsters walked in—three males and three females—causing the look on Sahir’s face to change.

He recognized them, and knowing the kind of trouble they were, he frowned.

After all, he had once tried to join the Grand Arcane Mage Sect alongside them, only to be rejected.

And he wasn’t the only one affected by the sudden appearance of the six disciples. The other servers also frowned, some retreating to other tables. They had no plans of dealing with the overprivileged kids today.

In the end, it was Sahir who approached them, and with the smile expected of a waiter, he spoke.

"Wele to Everyday Inn. What would you like to order today?"

The six youngsters looked at Sahir, and for a moment, they said nothing.

Then, out of nowhere, they burst into resounding laughter.

"If it isn’t our overly confident waiter who thinks being a mage is as simple as serving food."

One of the young men, Cole, blurted out, drawing many diners’ attention.

Some of them sympathized with Sahir, while others merely smiled and shook their heads. They knew Sahir was a nobody, so being teased was, in a way, normal.

Sahir kept his posure and even managed a small smile.

He was being humiliated, but the last thing he wanted was to offend any of them. All six youngsters were Six-Circle Mages, or as they were monly called, High Mages.

So offending them was the last thing he wanted.

"Such is the world of the strong. They get to do whatever they want without consequences," a man seated with two ladies muttered before returning to his food.

Meanwhile, Cole and his squad continued to tease Sahir for a good ten minutes before finally ordering their meals.

Sahir took their order, the professional that he was, and went to fetch their food.

"What a loser," Fiona muttered, brushing the back of Cole’s hand.

"Hey, why don’t we play a game?" Gideon suddenly suggested, causing his friends to turn toward him.

"What kind of game?" Steven asked, already interested even though he hadn’t heard the details yet.

"It’s simple. How much do you think it would cost to convince the owner to make that loser our personal dessert table?"
