Chapter 131: Chapter 129: This Young Master Almost Went to See Great-Grandma
"I’ll try."
Javier Sinclair spoke as he brought his fingers together, releasing his Divine Sense to search for his son’s trail.
He could sense that his son had indeed been here before.
Celeste Grant’s gaze swept over their surroundings. "First, let’s find the Teleportation Array," she said. "The map marks two locations. Our son probably didn’t use either of them to leave. These ruins must have another, undiscovered teleportation point. Let’s split up and search."
Javier Sinclair nodded.
"Be careful."
"I know."
Just as they were speaking, the ground began to tremble. In that instant, nurous stone giants slowly rose from the earth. The statues seed to co alive, and then they launched an attack on them.
Celeste Grant extended her hand, and the Primordial Sword flew into her grasp, returning to its original form. The ice-blue blade radiated a chilling aura.
Seeing the stone statues charging at her, Celeste Grant raised her sword and swung.
In a flash, the statues were sliced in half at the waist. Frost ford wherever the Sword Qi passed.
’This sword really is useful.’
But her relief was premature.
Watching more and more statues appear, Celeste Grant said, "What in the world is this place?" ’People have co here before, but no one ever ntioned any stone statues. It must be because Javier Sinclair destroyed the Arrays here so recklessly, triggering the defensive asures.’
"Who cares what this place is? We’ll just destroy it."
As he spoke, he gathered his Cultivation in his palm and struck the ground. Imnse Cultivation radiated outward from the two of them. The next mont, all the stone statues that had erged instantly dissipated, vanishing with a gust of wind.
At that sa mont, Javier Sinclair reached out, grabbed her arm, and the two of them vanished from the spot.
After they left, a deafening roar erupted from where they had been standing. The ground caved in, sinking seven or eight ters, and dust filled the air.
「Next.」
Javier Sinclair and Celeste Grant split up to search the abandoned ruins. Javier Sinclair had destroyed every Array he ca across, and they had already explored several underground areas in the ruined city.
The two of them had nearly turned the entire ruins upside down, but they still hadn’t found the place that had teleported their son away.
"This is unbelievable."
"Where on earth could it be?"
’Was there sowhere they had overlooked?’
Finally, Celeste Grant’s gaze lingered for a mont on a low, dilapidated, half-collapsed hut.
’Here?’
Her eyes scanned the area before her.
’I’ve passed by here twice already. It’s so inconspicuous, just a corner of a ruined hut.’
’There’s sothing strange about this area.’
She swept her Divine Sense across the location and finally detected her son’s aura.
’There’s an isolation Array here! No wonder I never noticed it.’
"Javier Sinclair, over here—"
She called out.
A figure flashed before her.
The mont the words left her mouth, Javier Sinclair appeared in front of her.
Javier Sinclair followed her gaze and saw the spot.
"There’s another Array here. Wait, I’ll break it."
With a wave of his hand, he shattered the Array, and the true scene was finally revealed.
The ruined hut was gone. In its place stood an unremarkable wall. Because this was a ruined city, age had covered the wall in moss and vines.
Celeste Grant looked at the wall and, beneath the moss near the bottom, she saw the inscribed lines of an Array.
"This is it."
Javier Sinclair nodded as well. "This Teleportation Array is too well-hidden. Who knows where it leads."
"This looks ancient. It’s not going to break on us before we can even get in, is it?"
Javier Sinclair replied, "Let’s try it first."
He extended his hand, brought his fingers together, and poured his Spiritual Power directly into the Array, activating the teleportation chanism. At the sa ti, the inscribed lines at the base of the wall began to rotate, and the Teleportation Array lit up. A swirling black vortex appeared.
"It’s working."
The thought of finally being able to find their son made Celeste Grant let out a sigh of relief.
"Let’s go, quickly." Her face couldn’t help but show her worry when she thought of her son.
Javier Sinclair reached out and took her wrist.
"Let’s go in."
Celeste Grant followed him.
The two of them stepped directly into the Teleportation Array.
After they entered, the Teleportation Array broke with a CRACK. This ant they couldn’t return the way they ca; they would have to find another way back.
「Two days later.」
anwhile, in a subterranean river, Aaron Sinclair had been chased for the better part of a day by a patriarch Flesh-Gnawer Fish at the Late Stage of Golden Core.
He had only ever fought Demonic Beasts on land and had no experience with underwater combat, so he was getting his butt kicked by these Flesh-Gnawer Fish.
"Stop chasing ! We can talk about this!"
"So I killed a few of your kin. Was your wife one of them or sothing? I’m so dead. Dad, you might never see
again."
This Late Stage Golden Core Flesh-Gnawer Fish was over three ters long and enormous. When it opened its mouth, all you could see was a maw full of sharp teeth.
Talisman paper didn’t work well in the water, so he could only rely on his Cultivation to endure. Fortunately, he always made thorough preparations before leaving ho; otherwise, he might very well have t his end here today.
Even if he wanted to call his dad for help now, it was useless. He had dropped his phone in a swamp two days ago.
Two days ago, while Aaron Sinclair was video-chatting with his mom, a giant snake had lunged out, causing him to drop his phone into the swamp, where it was lost.
He fought the snake for half a day, finally managing to kill it and take its Demon Core, only to fall into an underground cavern and end up in this hellhole.
And he had no idea where the exit was.
With his current Cultivation, he couldn’t just break through who-knows-how-many-feet of rock to get out from underground. So, his only option was to follow the subterranean river and look for an exit.
’This is so frustrating!’
’As soon as I get out of here, I’m going into seclusion. I’m not coming out until I break through to the Golden Core stage.’
Just then, a thunderous RUMBLE ca from the water behind him. The three-ter-long Flesh-Gnawer Fish leaped from the river, pouncing straight toward him.
It opened its massive, tooth-filled maw, intending to swallow him whole.
"Now’s my chance!"
’He’d finally found an opportunity.’
Aaron Sinclair grabbed onto the rock face and hurled a handful of Blast Fla Talismans directly into the Flesh-Gnawer Fish’s mouth. At the sa ti, he slid straight into the water, and his figure was instantly carried far down the subterranean river. A deafening RUMBLE echoed from behind him.
Rocks rained down from above with a WHOOSH, and the water level surged. Carried by this powerful current, he was swept away while lying flat on his back.
When he surfaced again, he finally saw sunlight. Wiping the water from his face, he scrambled out of a deep pool, looking utterly disheveled.
"I’m finally out!"
He was dead tired.
Two days... Even with his decent Cultivation, he couldn’t stand being soaked in water for two straight days.
Aaron Sinclair’s small body crawled onto a rock, where he imdiately flopped down, spread-eagled.
"I survived."
"I miss my mom so much."
Damn it.
’I was almost a goner.’
"I almost never saw my mom again."
Now that he’d disappeared, his mom was probably worried sick.
