Chapter 129: Chapter 127: Where She Lay, There Was Only His Clothes
The hazy moon hung in the sky, half-veiled by clouds.
On a secluded mountainside, wildflowers carpeted the ground. Fireflies of all sizes flickered through the night sky, creating a beautiful, sparkling display.
Javier Sinclair had placed a Barrier here, ensuring no one could enter.
Beneath the moonlight.
Inside the Barrier, Javier Sinclair pinned Celeste Grant beneath him, his hand clamped around her wrist. His other arm wrapped around her waist as he leaned down, his kisses landing on her shoulder.
She lay on nothing but his clothes, her outstretched hand able to touch the cool petals of the wildflowers.
A night breeze stirred, and it felt as if they were the only two people in the world.
His deep voice murmured in her ear.
"Weren’t you fond of calling
’brother’? Let’s hear it."
All Celeste Grant could see was his firm chest.
It was close enough to touch.
His hair fell across her shoulder.
"The Archfiend."
She murmured, her hand pressing lightly against his shoulder...
Beneath the moon, his figure was reflected in her eyes.
...
「Two days later」
Celeste Grant walked out of the Barrier.
Her hand was on her lower back, and her legs felt a little weak. ’Even as a cultivator, I can’t handle The Archfiend’s stamina.’
Looking at her long, unbound hair, Celeste Grant’s mind replayed scenes too explicit even for a premium subscription.
’I’ve feasted so well... I almost feel sorry for all the poor girls who can’t even touch The Archfiend’s abs.’
She reached up, gently stroking her long hair where it fell over her shoulder.
A Cloud Hairpin materialized in her hand, and she deftly swept her hair up with it.
She held out her hand, and the Primordial Sword, which she’d put away, appeared in her palm, now shrunk to the size of a hairpin. It flew up and settled into her hair.
The Barrier behind her vanished.
A figure appeared beside Celeste Grant—Javier Sinclair, of course. He was dressed in moon-white robes that accentuated his tall, powerful build. Just by standing there, his face outshone all the wildflowers blooming around them.
He held out his hand.
"I will carry you."
Celeste Grant shot him a look but said nothing.
’I was the one who started it, so why do I feel like I’m the one who got the worst of it?’
She waved her hand dismissively. "I can manage on my own. It was only two days."
Javier Sinclair stared at her, repeating her words. "Only two days?"
He closed the distance between them and, in the next mont, swept Celeste Grant into his arms.
He leaned in close, his voice a low murmur. "If you feel two days wasn’t enough..."
He wouldn’t mind adding a few more.
Before he could finish, Celeste Grant slapped a hand over his mouth.
"No, no! That’s enough!"
"Have a little rcy, would you?"
’That was two whole days and nights!’
’I know dual cultivation is normal in The Cultivation World, but this was way too long. I’m supposed to be a respectable person! How can I not be embarrassed?’
Seeing her blush with embarrassnt put Javier Sinclair in a good mood.
"We’re going ho."
With those words, he flew into the sky with her in his arms, their figures vanishing in the blink of an eye...
「Back at the Bloodfiend Den」
Celeste Grant imdiately summoned Nerida and explained her plan to add a fighting arena to the night market.
"That’s the general idea. You can work out the rest of the details among yourselves."
Nerida nodded. "Yes, Madam. I’ll see to it right away."
Thinking about her upcoming trip, she added, "I’m going to be away for a while. I’ll have to ask you to look after Aaron while I’m gone."
Hearing this, Nerida asked, "Where are you going, Madam? Do you need
to accompany you? I could ensure your safety."
Celeste Grant shook her head.
She waved a hand. "I need to keep a low profile, so I’ll go alone."
Nerida didn’t press the matter.
’Their madam was quite powerful herself. Plus, she had a Defense Treasure crafted by The Exalted One, so her safety wasn’t a major concern.’
Not seeing her son around, Celeste Grant asked a question.
"Where’s my darling son?"
Nerida replied, "Madam, the Young Master went out with so disciples early yesterday morning and hasn’t returned yet."
Celeste Grant paused for a mont, then nodded. "Alright, I see."
Later that evening, when her son still hadn’t returned, Celeste Grant took out her phone, found his contact ID, and placed a video call.
The call connected almost imdiately, and her son’s face appeared on the screen. But then she saw a living vine whip out from behind him. The vine was covered in man-eating flower buds, complete with teeth. It was a terrifying sight.
’Starting off with sothing this intense?’
"Watch your back!"
Celeste Grant cried out instinctively.
In a flash, he spun around and grabbed the vine. Karmic Fire flared in his hand, causing the other vines to recoil. But it was too late for the one he held; the mont the Karmic Fire touched it, the vine burst into flas.
A sea of fire quickly erupted behind him.
Even through the screen, Celeste Grant could hear a SIZZLING sound.
Her heart leaped into her throat at the sight.
"Aaron, where are you? Are you okay?"
"Haha, Mom, it was just a little trouble. I’m fine now."
He then flipped the cara to show her his surroundings.
Celeste Grant saw a swamp-like area filled with arm-thick vines, all of which were now engulfed in a raging inferno.
Celeste Grant’s sharp eyes spotted nurous white bones scattered on the ground, and she gasped. The bones alone told her this was an incredibly dangerous place.
"Aaron, where on earth are you? Is anyone with you? You need to get out of there, now!"
Her son just scratched his head, looking sheepish.
"Mom, I don’t know where I am either. I was near Gloomfang City. I walked into so abandoned ruins and was teleported here."
"Gloomfang City?"
Celeste Grant’s pupils constricted, and the color drained from her face. "You went to Gloomfang City? And you were teleported from so nearby ruins?"
Aaron Sinclair nodded.
"Yeah, Mom. Do you know where this is?"
’I do.’
’Of course I do.’
’Gloomfang City... that was the very place I was planning to go to seize a great opportunity. I never imagined my son would get there first. And now he’s been teleported to who knows where.’
"You really know how to pick your spots," she muttered.
’Running off to a place like that without a word.’
Celeste Grant frowned, her eyes glued to the screen, studying her son’s surroundings.
’I really have no idea where he was teleported. This part was never in the book, so I’m completely lost.’
’Unknown places always an endless danger. My son only has a Foundation Establishnt Stage Cultivation...’ Celeste Grant could feel sweat beading on her forehead.
"Be careful. I’m coming for you right now."
Suddenly, the screen flickered and then went completely black.
Seeing this, Celeste Grant’s heart hamred in her chest.
"Aaron!"
"Aaron!"
She cried his na twice.
"Soone!"
"Javier Sinclair!"
Celeste Grant scread his na.
In the next instant, Javier Sinclair materialized before her. He must have co in a hurry, as a faint black aura still clung to him.
Javier Sinclair stood before her, taking in her sweat-drenched forehead with a slight start. "You’re covered in sweat. What happened?"
"We have to go to Gloomfang City. Our son is in danger."
