Chapter 289: The Treasury In The Eclipse Palace (Ch.289)

"This is of no help." Alessio decided after a short mont, just as he was about to head back the way he had co, sothing caught his eye.

It rested in a box at the very last shelf, hidden by the other shelves overflowing with more attractive gems and treasures.

It was practically unnoticeable, so much that Alessio had almost missed it yet the mont he did a double take, every other gem was long forgotten.

It had no glow or shine to it, but none of that mattered when Alessio walked over to the shelf and stared down at the dragon scale.

Alessio had not seen many dragons or any at all until recently, but their fa and supremacy in all the lands beyond the sea was far spread even here in wolf territory where their reign was yet to taint.

So Alessio knew enough to recognize the large, rough and curved scale that was just as large as his palm but was one out of hundreds of scales that ford a dragon’s armored cover.

At first glance, it looked to be a black scale but on closer inspection, Alessio realized it seed to be changing colors, switching between a variety of dark shades and Alessio could not tell which exactly was it’s original color.

Alessio picked up the scale, staring down at it in reluctant awe. Alessio could not help but wonder how exactly his father had gotten hold of a dragon scale.

But there was no doubt in Alessio’s mind that he had found exactly what held aning to him and what he would have his crown crafted from.

There was no other treasure in this hall that could be compared to it, a symbol of his sole purpose as Alpha King...

To herald a battle greater than any the supernatural realm had ever seen and bring about the end to the dragons.

This was the cause Alessio had pledged within his heart to achieve against all odds...or he would ruin the supernatural realm trying.

A sinister smile found it’s way to Alessio’s lips as he grazed a thumb over the rough dragon scale.

Sohow, Alessio could still feel the power concealed within and like an addicting drug, Alessio had discovered the one treasure he desired the most.

"Hundreds of them I shall have for myself... one trophy after the other, I shall build my treasury... over the fallen bodies of my enemies..." Alessio murmured, his eyes glinting with bloodthirst.

Alessio pulled shut the lid of the box and took it off the shelf, intending to head straight to the craftsman.

Just as he moved it out of the way, Alessio noticed there was a door knob on the wall behind the shelf.

It blended so perfectly with the wall that one would not even notice it was there.

"Another secret hall...?" Alessio wondered aloud as he placed the box back down and pushed the shelf to the side.

This was now Alessio’s Eclipse Palace, he would not allow any part of it to be unknown to him.

Alessio pushed open the door and stepped into an adjoining hall.

It was just a hall separated from the treasury by a wall, there should not have been so great a difference.

But the mont Alessio stepped in, he felt like he had been transported to an snow mountain.

The temperature dropped drastically and what was noticeably cold quickly beca chilling cold.

As though Alessio had stepped right into a more brutal winter than the present winter season, the kind of chilling cold that could only be found on high mountain peaks where there was nothing but ice and cold.

Alessio shivered visibly, even his body’s tabolism and his wolf’s internal heat could not regulate his body temperature fast enough and Alessio was not spared from the chills.

There was another change even more strange than the temperature, Alessio noticed the presence of a strong aura of magic.

Having watched his father’s Raven guards, Alessio could recognize the power of witches when he sensed it and this was surely witch magic!

"What is this place?" Alessio wondered as he pushed the door closed slowly, stepping fully into the hall.

Alessio gritted his teeth against the chill as he ventured deeper into the hall and only when he was right at the center of the hall did Alessio set eyes on a horrifying sight.

Up ahead, laid on an elevated platform at the far end of the hall was a person... an actual person!

Alessio could see only the silhouette as the body was covered over by a white cloth from head to toe, but it surely was the form of a person.

Corpse or a living person, Alessio could not tell...not while he was still in shock to discover his father had hidden a person in his secret room.

"What is this?!" Alessio exclaid in bafflent as he cautiously ventured closer to the platform, climbing up the steps that led to the high dais upon which the body was laid.

Alessio hesitated for a mont before he reached a hand out to the white cloth and pulled it down slightly to reveal a breathtakingly beautiful woman...a sight that sent Alessio’s heart screeching to a horrified stop.

With hair as white as the purest snow and an extrely familiar appearance,

A striking, almost horrifying resemblance... to Alessio’s most beloved woman.

Alessio did not need a soothsayer to tell him just who he was staring at.

This was the sa woman who was the nightmare in his mother’s mories, the thorn in his mother’s heart.

The woman who had bewitched the Alpha King of the Eclipse Domain to commit the sacrilegious act of betraying his own mate...

The woman whom Alessio had wondered a thousand tis over just how she had captured and held his father’s heart up till this day.

The woman who was the very cause of Alessio’s broken family...

Alessio staggered backwards with a horrified gasp, he had never had reason to ntion it before but Alessio did know her na...for his father called it out even in his dreams...

"Eira..." Alessio gasped.
