Chapter 288: The Treasury In The Eclipse Palace (Ch.288)
Alessio walked over to the shelf, reaching for a book that stuck out slightly from between the rest.
It was the only odd thing other than the change in the position of the shelf so Alessio knew he had found the true lever.
’There was nothing he could ever truly conceal from our knowledge, we have only let him live in the deception that his will was law.’
’Those days are long gone...now, all that was Lothaire’s will be ours.’ Terran spurred Alessio on with a dark growl.
"It was always ant to be so." Alessio agreed.
Alessio pulled on the book and the shelf moved to the side, revealing an iron door hidden behind.
Alessio stared at the door in silence for a mont before he reached for the knob and tried to push open the door but it would not budge.
Alessio had not truly expected it to, he also knew that forcefully breaking through the door was not an option, his father would have set a fail safe asure in case of that.
There was nothing Alessio was more adept at than thinking like his father... Alpha King Lothaire had afterall raised Alessio to be another version of himself.
And if Alessio was asked, he would say his father had done a good job of it. Now, Alessio was more his father than he was himself.
And that ant Alessio lived by the law of taking for himself whatsoever it was he desired, and taking pleasure in the process.
"A lot of fuss to conceal a treasury." Alessio murmured beneath his breath as he glanced down at the door knob.
There were numbers engraved all around it and Alessio frowned slightly before he turned the knob, stringing together a certain date.
There were many dates Alessio could have tried, but Alessio knew well enough the one date his mother would never stop speaking about.
It was the day Alpha King Lothaire had t the woman who had bewitched him.
Alessio was not at all surprised when he heard a click from the door which told he had gotten the passcode exactly right on the first try.
’He was always predictable...yet he believes us to be the weak ones.’ Terran thought to Alessio with a huff of indignation.
Alessio’s brows only furrowed into a deeper frown.
"Father still has her in his heart...it is no wonder mother never feels secure." Alessio murmured with a shake of his head.
’The world is ours now, what does their old tale matter? We will write the tale now.’ Terran reminded Alessio.
The door ca open to reveal a thin, dimly lit hallway and Alessio ventured in, pulling the door closed behind him.
Alessio walked slowly down the hallway, the walls on both sides were just an arm’s length away and the hallway could only allow two people standing side by side to pass through.
Alpha King Lothaire’s personal treasury was not a secret to Alessio, Alessio had just never been allowed here before and no one dared co in here.
Other than his father’s most trusted Raven guards, no one else was allowed in the treasury.
With his father, Alessio had always known what he could expect and what he could never dare seek to know.
This was one of such things, though Alessio was not certain just what kind of wealth his father concealed here that he would hide it from his own son and the entire pack.
’Another prove that he never truly intended to bequeath his throne to us...he did not trust us enough.’ Terran reminded Alessio.
Alessio could not disagree with Terran’s words, he also knew just how much his father’s trust was worth.
Alessio had wondered much to often why the rest of the pack could not see beyond their terror of his father.
But then again, Alpha King Lothaire ruled the Eclipse Domain with an iron fist...it was only that an Alpha King wolf as Alessio could never truly be tad.
’To believe he truly controlled our will was his own illusion. We are greater than Lothaire could ever hope to be.’ Terran growled in Alessio’s mind.
The hallway stretched down for a short distance before a curve to the left lay beyond, there was no other path but that and so that was where Alessio went.
It did not take too long for the hallway to open up into a small hall where there were even more shelves spread about than there were in Alpha King Lothaire’s study.
Alessio spared a look around, again, he was not surprised to see hundreds of precious gems and other rare treasures stored in well crafted boxes with their lids open.
From first glance, Alessio could pick out extrely rare treasures like rmaid tears, the witches crystal balls, and even rarer treasures.
Alessio had always known his father had amassed incomparable wealth but Alessio still could not understand his obsession with material things.
None of these had been nearly enough to satiate his father’s greed, Alessio knew this better than anyone, he was afterall his father’s executioner...or he had been, but no longer.
The temperature in the treasury was strangely cold, not enough that it could leave chills but still noticeably cold.
It was still winter, yet Alessio had not expected the chills would reach in this dee
Alessio walked over to the closest shelf and lifted a pea sized rmaid tear to his view, the small pearl glowing a pale pink color.
It was beautiful to look at, that much was true. But other than that, the rmaid’s tear held no intrigue to Alessio.
"Sothing of aning..." Alessio murmured to himself as he slowly walked on, examining one treasure after the other.
To Alessio, they were nothing more than shiny objects, it was perhaps in just this regard that Alessio was all too different from his father.
"This is of no help." Alessio decided after a short mont, just as he was about to head back the way he had co, sothing caught his eye.
