Jimmy and David were chatting over tea. David used to be mainly responsible for anti-terrorism intelligence tasks, can't say much, but it's estimated he was transferred there after 9/11 in recent years.
Now having the opportunity to return to handling regular cases, even though he's not thrilled, he can accept it.
The people on the anti-terrorism line have too much authority. Initially, after 9/11, although most people were unhappy, they tacitly agreed that they could infringe on certain rights to so extent.
As days went by, the shadows of that ti have gradually dissipated with ti and US Army actions in the Middle East, so restrictions on the FBI have been brought back on the agenda.
Being able to leave that line now and return to normal is better than being restrained in the future, and there are not many opportunities to handle cases in the office, and even fewer chances to lead a team.
Now David, like Jimmy once, is acting head of the Homicide Team, Mahong is the official team leader, though seconded, his position hasn't been removed.
Office groups handling regular cases can interact more with higher-ups and people in the Bureau, providing broader opportunities for advancent, whether within the office, headquarters, or to other offices, the path is relatively wide.
The anti-terrorism line is relatively closer to DHS and their team, even in the Bureau they're transparent people; except for the leaders, it's hard for others to advance, especially since dostic terrorist cases in the United States are not many, most of the ti they're investigating intelligence information.
David has clearly understood the situation of the Homicide Team in recent days, involved in various rumors about Jimmy. Although he is relatively older, he does not put on the airs of a senior, and the two chat pleasantly.
After drinking tea, David continued to check the materials, while Jimmy sat idly in his place waiting for notification.
Sothing is amiss, two weeks of suspension, the departnt transfer was decided beforehand. Since leaving fieldwork, he would no longer be under Hughes' supervision, so Jimmy didn't go there in the morning but planned to confirm everything first before eting with them to chat.
It's been long past work hours, why hasn't anyone inford him? Jimmy took out his phone and checked, the FBI-issued phone, no ssages at all, neither calls nor texts. He is sure this phone isn't out of credit, so definitely, no one tried to contact him.
In the office almost until noon, Jimmy was getting restless. Not knowing who to ask, he could only find the person most likely to know about his future arrangent, Tim Dunn in the administrative departnt.
The suburban vehicle newly assigned to Jimmy had not been reclaid earlier, the keys are still in his hands.
Under normal circumstances, when being suspended and transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Jimmy's car should have been recovered, but when Tim Dunn ca to collect his gun and badge, he didn't collect the car keys. In principle, the car is still designated for his use, just waiting to see when soone notices this issue.
Jimmy put on his suit, ca outside Tim Dunn's office, and seeing no one else inside, he knocked on the door, "Dunn."
Dunn looked up and glanced, "Oh, Jimmy, long ti no see. Please, have a seat, how have you been lately?"
Jimmy sat in front of Dunn's desk, "I'm fine, took so ti off to unwind, just ca in to work today. Dunn, I have a question, do you know to which departnt I've been assigned?"
Dunn asked puzzled, "You didn't receive any notification?"
Jimmy nodded, "All morning no one ca to find , and there were no calls or texts."
Dunn: "Wait a mont, let check."
Dunn searched Jimmy's na on the computer, furrowing his brows, "Oh, sothing must have gone wrong, your position should have been pre-assigned, why are you still in the Homicide Team? Please wait here a mont."
Dunn got up and left the office. He's mainly responsible for administrative tasks like personnel and equipnt, and has nothing to do with departnt allocation, he hadn't paid particular attention to Jimmy's assignnt before.
Jimmy sat idly in the office, the external internal affairs staff would always smile and nod inside as they passed the office door, making Jimmy uncomfortable, feeling as if ants were crawling on him.
These offices are separated by transparent glass, and without closing the curtains, Jimmy was like a display in the showcase inside.
Close to the noon break, Dunn finally returned, looking at Jimmy with a difficult expression, "Jimmy, your position still needs more ti, it's not confird yet."
Jimmy widened his eyes, "What's going on?"
Dunn: "Don't ask, it's just not finalized yet, you can go back and wait for news."
Jimmy looking at Dunn's expression, also felt sothing was amiss, he nodded, stood up, fastened his suit, and left Dunn's office.
Sothing was off, Jimmy didn't return to the office, he went straight to Hughes'. Hughes was likely out for lunch, and Jimmy wasn't in the mood to eat, so he sprawled out in the conference room to nap a bit.
"Jimmy, why are you here?" Jimmy originally planned to take a short nap, didn't expect to actually fall asleep. Soone called his na, he turned his head to look, put his feet down, stood up, "Peter, I'm waiting for Hughes."
Peter: "Uh, you didn't call him? He's not here today."
