Several posts on the forum were claiming that the two had already broken up, with all kinds of detailed "analysis."
They spoke as if they had seen it all themselves.
Amy Taylor couldn’t stand it and imdiately grabbed her keyboard to argue with those people.
— Day in and day out, you’ve got nothing better to do than gossip about other people’s relationships? What, do you think the campus queen fairy would ever look at you, you disgusting toad?
— Which one of your eyes saw them fighting? Did you lie on a trash can and overhear it?
— Calling her ugly? Take a good look at yourself first! The campus queen and her boyfriend standing together are a match made in heaven, but you standing next to them is a living tragedy!
Her combat prowess was so fierce that she could be considered Hannah’s number one diehard fan.
After venting, Amy Taylor ran off to find Hannah, still fuming. "Those people on the forum are way out of line! They’re making up all kinds of nonsense—like you drowning your sorrows in alcohol or not coming back at night. Seriously, it’s just—"
She swallowed the last word back down.
"Forget it, ignore them. I heard there’s a new shop that opened up at the food street outside the school. Let’s go check it out!"
"Sure." Hannah sent Arnold Simmons a ssage and then went out with Amy Taylor.
It was a weekend, the exams had just ended, and the food street was quite lively.
Amy Taylor said she wanted to go to the next-door shop to buy fried chicken, so Hannah stayed in the store to wait for their order number to be called.
The shop was bustling, and a group of guys who had just walked in were talking and laughing, shoving and ssing around with each other. Among them, the tallest and most handso guy kept glancing in Hannah’s direction.
They were also students from A University.
"Hey, isn’t that the campus queen? She’s alone?"
"Looks like what the forum said was true."
"Nick Cooper, your chance is here! Don’t miss it—there are tons of people chasing the campus queen at school!"
Nick Cooper had already noticed Hannah and didn’t need anyone to tell him. Ignoring the teasing voices of his friends behind him, he walked straight over to Hannah.
Hannah was still looking down at her phone. Amy Taylor was ssaging her to complain, saying the line at the fried chicken shop was way too long and she hadn’t gotten her turn yet.
It wasn’t until the opposite seat suddenly beca occupied that Hannah raised her head to look. "Sorry, my friend just stepped out. She’ll be back soon."
Hannah didn’t recognize Nick Cooper.
Nick had anticipated this. He smiled and introduced himself, "I’m Nick Cooper, also a student at A University."
Hannah hesitated and nodded slightly. "Do you need sothing?"
"I saw you sitting here alone and thought I’d co over to say hi." The boy was smiling cheerfully, looking quite warm. "I rember seeing you during a club event before. You probably don’t rember."
Hannah did recall the club event.
It was Amy Taylor who dragged her along, saying they should join in the fun and maybe et more people.
The boy looked like he was ready to start an extended conversation and proactively suggested, "I ca here with my friends. Why don’t you join us?"
"No need." Hannah sensed his intention and politely declined. "My friend will be back soon."
Getting rejected, Nick Cooper didn’t seem surprised. He tactfully took a step back and pulled out his phone. "Do you mind adding on WeChat?"
Before Hannah could reply, he had already pushed his phone forward.
Luckily, Amy Taylor returned at that crucial mont.
Nick Cooper’s group of friends surrounded him as soon as he walked back, bombarding him with questions.
"Did you get her contact info? What did she say?"
Nick Cooper shook his head. "Her friend ca back."
"So she wasn’t alone?"
Nick glanced in Hannah’s direction.
