Jinlian kept quiet for a good while before slipping away with that pastry in hand.
Her owner’s confidence seems to grow with each passing day.
Two minutes later, Jas Landon ca back around.
He said he went to the restroom, but returned with a bunch of fresh flowers in his arms.
Bright red roses.
He took off his glasses and neatly combed his hair upwards, the youthfulness in his eyes and brows uncommon for soone his age. There was nervousness on his face, but also the determination that cos after mustering courage.
It was as if he was back in his teenage years, doing sothing crazy.
Confessing to the girl he had a crush on.
The voice that was so lodious and clear while singing now trembled, barely keeping tune, as he stepped forward to offer the heart he had hidden for so long, young and fervent, along with the words, "I like you."
He was no longer timid, his gaze fixed on the girl he admired, watching her reach out to take the bouquet from his arms, and flash him a radiant smile, then respond, "Thank you."
Even the occasional failed confession is a mory worth treasuring forever in youth.

Evening.
On the way ho.
Jinlian poked her head out, her dog’s face all ssy in the wind, yet she seed to be having the ti of her life.
At the traffic light, the car stopped.
Jinlian turned her head, "Master, if you had t Jas Landon first in this world, would you have treated him the sa way as you did the villain?"
The cool breeze outside dispersed the stuffy air in the car, small raindrops crept through the cracks, lightly falling on the back of the hand, bringing a brief chill.
The colors of the traffic lights fell, shining into those clear, transparent eyes. Hannah stayed silent for a mont, then started the car.
"No."
Jinlian scratched her head, "Is it because Jas Landon is not as formidable as the villain? If he was as formidable as the villain, would you take them both in?"
Jinlian’s thoughts began to wander, and Hannah’s response wasn’t important anymore.
What occupied her mind was her master’s past words—having many cars doesn’t an you’ll crash, it’s having many boats that keeps you steady.
At first, it was shocking, but now looking back... brilliant! Just brilliant!
Jinlian pondered by herself, while Hannah remained quiet alongside, her gaze resting under the night sky, calm and serene.
Hannah’s upbringing had turned her into soone who "looks out for number one." To survive and provide for herself and her mother, she had done a lot.
Everything she did had only one purpose: to stay alive and to fight for the greatest benefit for herself.
But that was in the past.
Now, she no longer needed anyone’s help. Even when she was initially exiled to Blue Star, she remained unfazed, even finding the leisure to infuriate the royal family to the point where they could do nothing to her.
As for why she chose Arnold Simmons initially...
It was a re whim.
And then, it was probably...
The car stopped, and seeing the man standing under the door light, Hannah didn’t even close the car door, but ran towards him and threw herself into his embrace.
Looking up at him, "I’m hungry, have you cooked?"
The light rained down from above, the man leaning down to embrace the girl in his arms, like a deity pulled from the heavens into the world, the cool reserve in his eyes and brows now ward over, leaving only a gentle tenderness.
He kissed her cheek, his voice tender and doting, "I made what you wanted to eat, it’s still warm, let’s go inside."
