Without realizing it, the Fire Spirit Queen’s expression grew awkward. More than that, a faint blush spread across her cheeks.

This time, Richard had gone far beyond simple teasing.

He genuinely wanted a relationship with her that was more than merely special.

If he forced her, she had no way to refuse. But if he didn’t force her... what answer could she possibly give?

"Your Majesty, there’s nothing wrong with falling in love with you... is there?"

Before the Fire Spirit Queen could calm her thoughts, Richard suddenly asked a question that made her feel as though her head was about to explode.

She couldn’t believe it.

It wasn’t as if no man had ever confessed to her before. In fact, it had happened countless times. She had ignored every single one of them.

But this time... she couldn’t.

Under these circumstances, her heart beat uncontrollably.

"You can fall in love with anyone," she replied softly.

What else could she possibly say?

It was simply the truth. Any man was free to fall in love with anyone. She couldn’t blame someone for falling in love with her.

If there was anything to blame, it would only be her own charm.

Richard smiled after hearing her answer.

Without another word, he held the three-colored diamond ring out toward her.

The wine still clouded his mind enough to make him unusually bold. If he had been sober, he would never have acted so hastily.

The Fire Spirit Queen almost wanted to smack her own forehead.

"The choice is entirely yours, Your Majesty," Richard said.

"Even if you were still the dying old woman I first met, I’d still court you. When a woman is beautiful at her core, appearances no longer matter to me."

He finished with a faint smile.

To preserve her posure, the Fire Spirit Queen refrained from scratching her head or covering her face.

Even so, the hand resting on her thigh unconsciously tightened against it.

Richard’s words shook her heart.

She had never expected him to be so skilled with words.

Of course, no other man could have said something like that. None of them had ever seen her as the dying old woman she once was.

"You don’t want to force me?" she asked.

"You wouldn’t want to be forced... would you?" Richard asked in return.

Oddly enough, the Fire Spirit Queen’s face flushed even deeper at his question.

Richard couldn’t help showing a strange expression.

Once again, the Fire Spirit Queen found herself unable to answer.

She pressed her lips together.

There was indeed a part of her heart that longed to begin a new life like this.

But she wasn’t the kind of woman who could simply say yes.

While she remained silent, Richard gently took her hand and slipped the diamond ring onto the ring finger of her right hand.

It didn’t merely fit.

It fit perfectly.

Even the Fire Spirit Queen’s slender neck turned red.

Richard smiled and resumed eating as though nothing had happened.

As for the Fire Spirit Queen, she could only pretend nothing had happened once again.

Although this wasn’t coercion, she chose to keep wearing the ring.

Whenever she looked at Richard, she couldn’t help feeling awkward, as he kept smiling faintly at her.

"Your Majesty, you know... everyone in the Fire Spirit Race is curious about our relationship," Richard said after taking several more bites.

The Fire Spirit Queen rolled her eyes.

Sooner or later, they would ask. She knew very well that she wasn’t good at lying. If she lied, they would only bee even more suspicious.

Besides, they weren’t fools.

Many of them had far more experience with romance than she did.

"I’ll tell them," the Fire Spirit Queen answered quietly.

In the end, she simply went along with everything. Whatever Richard said, she found herself unable to refuse.

Richard eventually finished every dish on the table.

"Would you like some more?" the Fire Spirit Queen asked, feeling she had finally found a chance to change the subject.

"This is enough. Though... your kingdom’s capital is fascinating. I feel like taking a walk," Richard replied.

The Fire Spirit Queen couldn’t help suspecting that he wanted to stroll around with her.

However, after standing up, Richard added, "There’s no need to acpany me. You must be busy preparing to receive the enemy forces tomorrow."

Hearing that, the Fire Spirit Queen wanted to sigh in relief, but she held it back.

She simply nodded, her lips pressed together.

"If you need anything, just contact me," she said. "I’ll see you out."

She rose and walked toward the corridor they had e through, returning to the main hall.

Richard quietly followed behind her.

He appeared perfectly calm.

The Fire Spirit Queen, on the other hand, was anything but calm.

Everything had happened so naturally... and she had accepted this man.

Now that they were officially lovers, there were things that would inevitably follow.

When they entered the main hall, it was empty.

Outside the palace, however, quite a crowd remained.

Most of the elders had yet to leave.

Every gaze immediately fell upon Richard and the Fire Spirit Queen.

She walked in front while Richard followed behind.

Even so, everyone’s suspicions only deepened.

Some people—especially the older elders—possessed exceptionally sharp eyes and keen instincts.

They instantly noticed a subtle change in their queen’s appearance.

On the ring finger of her right hand rested a three-colored diamond ring.

The Fire Spirit Queen often wore rings as accessories in her kingdom, changing them frequently.

However, she had never worn one on either ring finger.

Until now.

The elders who noticed this exchanged glances, unconsciously holding their breath.

It seemed...

Their queen had finally opened her heart to a man.

The difference in race might present a slight obstacle, but it had never truly mattered as long as both individuals stood on equal footing.

If their queen had fallen for a man from the Human Race, who could possibly stop her?

She would even dare challenge her own grandfather if he opposed it.

The Fire Spirit Queen knew there was no point pretending.

How could she ignore the countless gazes fixed on the ring finger of her right hand?

Even so, she maintained an indifferent expression.

"Would you like an escort?" she quietly asked Richard, her voice so soft that no one else could hear it.
