Just then, the call connected, and Mo Yinhe’s slightly grave voice ca through. "Jingzhe?"
"Dad."
Ye Jingzhe’s childish voice was cold. "Did you and Mom run into a problem?"
"What makes you say that?" Mo Yinhe asked.
Bo Fengyin and Xi Lei both glared furiously at Ye Jingzhe, afraid he was about to tattle.
Xi Lei had already clenched his small fists, ready to beat Ye Jingzhe to a pulp if he dared to tattle.
Ye Jingzhe said, "Intuition. Is it?"
Mo Yinhe chuckled softly. He wasn’t speaking to Ye Jingzhe, but to Si Mingjing beside him. "It’s Jingzhe. He’s asking if we’ve run into a problem. This child’s intuition is very sharp."
Imdiately after, Si Mingjing’s gentle voice ca through. "We did encounter so issues."
"Mom, what problems?" Ye Jingzhe asked seriously, seeing himself as a little adult demanding an equal conversation. "I want to know."
Si Mingjing always knew that when communicating with this son, she couldn’t treat him like a small child. Otherwise, she would hurt his self-esteem and lose the long-term chance for a genuine heart-to-heart connection.
She said, "Well, we’ve run into a small problem. Mom has acquired a city-state, but its citizens are unwilling to recognize Mom’s leadership."
"Mom, do you need help?"
"Hmm, do you have any good suggestions?"
"Mom wasn’t very specific." Her explanation was too vague. Ye Jingzhe believed that every vague problem must have a concrete starting point.
Mo Yinhe chuckled and interjected, speaking to his son. "Right now, a troubleso old man has given your mom a challenge. She obtained an artifact called The Third Eye. This old man wants your mom to use The Third Eye to prove she’s the one chosen to rule them. Understand?"
Ye Jingzhe humd in response. "Dad, I understand. I’ll tell you, Dad, when I think of a solution."
Mo Yinhe laughed softly. "Good. Mom and Dad will be waiting. Take good care of your younger siblings at ho. A new little sister has joined our family; take good care of her."
"Okay." Ye Jingzhe hung up the phone.
Xi Lei huffed, "See? Now do you believe us? Hurry up and get out of the way. Don’t stop us from going to help Mom!"
Ye Jingzhe pursed his thin, cool lips, a flicker of deep thought in his eyes. "How do you plan to help?"
Xi Lei didn’t know either. "Why should I tell you?" he retorted.
Gu Shurong stated haughtily, "Didn’t you hear what Dad said? Our leader is the eldest brother, so everyone has to listen to the eldest brother!"
"Hmph! You were just born a tiny bit earlier than ," Xi Lei scoffed. "That’s only because I liked sleeping in and didn’t want to hatch. What’s with the ’eldest brother’ act?" Xi Lei refused to acknowledge him as the eldest brother. They were all the sa age; no one was older than anyone else.
Ye Jingzhe said nothing, rely making a motion as if to dial the phone again.
"Alright, fine, I’ll tell you!" Xi Lei said glumly. "I don’t know either! We have to wait for Chaoyang. Chaoyang will know!"
Su Chaoyang didn’t return right away; instead, the butler found them first.
The little ones feigned obedience and went back to bathe and go to bed.
It wasn’t until after ten o’clock at night that Su Chaoyang cautiously peeked in and knocked on the bedroom door, gathering everyone in the corridor. "GO! GO! GO!"
