(Arata)

A masked man followed with a bloody knife in his hand.

I ran as fast as I could, but my feet got so heavy as if I was trying to cross a quagmire.

I tried to scream but no words ca out of my mouth.

I looked behind and saw it was a masked figure, following with a bloody knife, trying to plunge it into my shoulder.

’No, no, please don’t,’ I begged with tears leaking out of my eyes and then I woke up and sat up straight into my bed.

My heart leapt up and down in my chest as I placed my hand on it to steady it.

That was not a good dream. The masked man could be my stalker or it could represent Azul.

Not Azul, he was my safe space but now I had this weird dream. My heart and mind were already conflicted.

I flopped back on the soft pillow and grabbed the dolphin one, squishing my chest with it but there was no relief.

The trauma of the incident was slowly creeping in and my heart refused to calm down. I tossed and turned but nothing worked.

Grabbing my phone I texted Azul and waited, but there was no answer from him. Seed like he wasn’t online.

Maybe he was sleeping.

I wanted physical touch and there was only one option left. I knew I shouldn’t be bothering him this much but I was desperate.

Dragging myself out of my bed with the dolphin pillow still hugging my chest, I slowly made my way to his room.

I decided to knock, but the door was slightly open; I peeked inside and found him sleeping on the bed in a sitting position with his head tilted to the side.

This would be painful for his neck. Slowly I opened the door of his room and entered, approaching his bed.

His hair dangled in front of his shut eyes as his face had softened amidst the reflecting and flashing lights from his flatscreen.

Now that he wasn’t clenching or tightening his jaw or carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, he seed younger, relaxed, and peaceful.

One of his arms dangled down from the bed, mapped with thick azure veins. His puckered lips had parted ever so slightly. It took everything in to not reach out and touch him.

"Karsten!" I softly called him out, knowing he was a light sleeper.

Instantly, he awakened and his unfocused eyes found . Clouds of concern settled in them as the few seconds passed and he asked what was wrong. I told him about my dream and he gently settled in his lap.

His rough hand rubbed my arm in soothing movents as he tried to say sothing but held himself back.

"Ph...."

Placing his lips in my scattered hair, he breathed out as if in relief and began again.

"There is a reason I left the door of my room open. You don’t have to hesitate or ask for permission before coming to . And no, you are not a burden. It’s a tough ti for you, away from your family. So, I am here for you in any way you want," he assured , placing a small kiss on my head like a lover.

He even had sex with on my request, so his words were true when he said in any capacity I wanted.

I longed for a lover, he beca that.

I wanted a cuddler; he beca that, too.

I wished for a protector, and he took that role as well.

His arms wrapped themselves around in a protective circle and my stupid heart eased with joy and relief his actions had brought . I pressed close into the shelter of his chest and closed my eyes, soaking whatever this was.

"Thank you!" I whispered with a clogged throat, the emotions overwhelming .

"No thanks, Arata. Just sleep, I am here with you, no nightmares will disturb you now." Listening to his calming words, I closed my eyes and my body relaxed even further. Soon I drifted off, tucked in his strong arms. The trust I had in him put my mind at ease.

When I woke up again, the morning light was slowly escaping through the drawn curtains. I was cuddled up on his corded arm and hugged his chest. His slow snores filled the air.

Seed like he had been tired and hadn’t slept in a while. I rembered how he had told he didn’t sleep much, but at that mont, it seed like he was in a deep valley of slumber.

I didn’t move and just lay there basking in his heat and warmth. Any movent from and I knew he would wake up. Only lifting my eyes, I stared at his face and then slid down to his tattoo.

The snake with rubies for his eyes hissed at and I smiled back at him. I had never asked him why he had a serpent on his neck and then I rembered his step-brother had one too.

Maybe it was a family thing?

Carefully my fingers moved from his chest and slithered towards the snake. I traced the elegant creature nestled on his thick neck. The skin was extra smooth there, and the ravenous desire to just kiss him on it erupted like spring flowers after the rain.

My hungry gaze went to his face again. Why couldn’t I get enough of this man?

He was like this smoke, which I knew was hazardous to my health, and yet I couldn’t stop inhaling buckets of him. Knowing he was spreading through like a hazard and when all will be well he wouldn’t care about like he was doing now.

So why couldn’t I stop?

Wasn’t the experience with Andy enough to teach not to trust a man again?

Wasn’t my stalker teaching the sa lesson?

So why was I letting Karsten brand like this?

I should protect my heart from getting squashed again but this man wouldn’t let .

’Oh! Karsten, what are you doing to ?’ I scread in my head when his deep voice ca.

"It’s rude to stare, Blue Rose." And his magnetically haunting eyes flew open and slowly drifted towards .
