(Karsten)

Her lingering touches on my neck tattoo woke up. She must have been intrigued and exploring—for sure I knew she must be staring as well.

So I said, "It’s rude to stare, Blue Rose." Before opening my eyes and finding her shyly doing just that.

Quickly, she tried to snatch her hand away from my neck, but I clasped it in mine and held it there, against my skin.

"I wasn’t...was just admiring your tattoo." She stole her gaze away but didn’t pull her hand.

"Do you like it?" I questioned, pulling her even closer as if she wasn’t already pressed against my hard body.

Arata didn’t complain or feel uneasy.

"Yes, but what’s the story behind it? Why a snake tattoo?" She asked, her fingers softly whispering against my skin, so calming that I wanted to close my eyes and just drown in the feeling.

There was so much related to this tattoo. The males on my mother’s side usually acquired it once they ca of age. So I told her.

"It’s a Fujic Serpent, a symbol of our family. It represents wisdom, strength and protection. These are fundantals and virtues a Chevalier boy must uphold as he transforms into a man." I paused, enjoying the caresses of her fingers before continuing. "For generations, we have lived by these principles and worn this symbol with pride. We try to not dishonour it and the legacy it represents."

"That’s fascinating to learn. Thank you for sharing the details with ." She leaned closer, shifting her head from my arm to my chest. I let her be, my hand ending in her soft hair as I combed it gently with my fingers.

We just stayed like that for a while, enjoying the silence and the lingering quietness, the touch of our bodies against each other.

The peace, so aningful for both of us.

"We should get ready. I don’t want us to get late." She finally said, lifting herself up. The connection with my skin was severed and I hated the feeling of emptiness that stretched in my heart.

I almost begged her to stay but I didn’t trust myself when it ca to her. The morning hardness was already raging on.

"Call Asbela to help you and change the bandages. If not I can do it," I said, helping her climb down the bed.

"No, no. It’s fine. Thank you for letting crash. I didn’t want to be alone last night." She said with a shy smile. That elent of demure in her smiles was new and it made wonder about her feelings.

Were they changing towards ?

Sothing seed to have shifted inside her.

"Any ti, Arata. This house is at your disposal, use it the way you please," I tried to assuage any lingering fears she might have. Giving a hearty nod, she exited my room, leaving with jumbled thoughts.

My stomach growled at that mont. I hadn’t taken any solid diet the other day; today, I needed breakfast.

Calling Asbela, I inford her to have the chef prepare so eggs and beans for along with my coffee.

Leaving my bed I got ready for the office and headed down for breakfast. Arata hadn’t arrived. I settled on the dining table and took out my cell phone to answer so important emails.

Since Arata was injured, I didn’t want her to worry about work. The chef served our breakfast as Asbela was busy with Arata but I waited for her to co.

Soon, she appeared in a pale blue pantsuit with a frilled white shirt underneath. Her hair was elegantly held back in a bun, and she wore her glasses.

Stunned, I watched her glide towards . Asbela pulled out a chair for her, and she settled down. Slling like sumr fruits all I could do was stare and take deep breaths.

She gifted a sunbeam smile as Asbela plated her food.

"I will feed her," I quickly said, dismissing Asbela. She quietly retreated, leaving us alone.

"I can eat on my own," she politely said but I rely shook my head.

Pulling her plate closer to , I scooped up a spoonful of beans and sliced egg, offering it to her. She quietly accepted, gratitude so clear in her radiant eyes.

I loved the colour—such serene blue, it cald .

We shared breakfast, I fed her, and she silently ate, just watching with her big, intelligent eyes.

After breakfast, we headed out. I kept her close, being overprotective.

Olphi took us to the office. She quietly stared out the window, most of the way. The morning light bounced off her, making her appear so radiant.

Her silence bugged though. Arata, I had grown to know, didn’t stay that quiet.

Her ntal state worried , what if she was depressed or was suffering from PTSD? Should I take her to see a psychiatrist?

Amidst my muddled thoughts and worries, we arrived at Arsten Empire.

As soon as we reached the elevator, Arata stiffened beside . The colour drained from her face seeing the black glass door.

"Arata!" I softly called her, seeing her tremble beside . My hands instinctively reached out and cuddled her back. She instantly pulled herself into , her eyes lifted to mine and genuine fear I saw flashing there.

"I can’t." She shook her head as if disappointed in herself.

I closed my free hand and brushed my knuckles along her cheek, the bruise there had almost faded now.

"Yes, you can. You are the bravest girl I have ever t and believe , I have t a lotttttt." I purposely dragged the last word out and it worked. Her lips broke into a smile.

"Of course, you have, Mr Charming."

"Let charm you, co. This stupid elevator stands no chance against my charisma." I winked and she giggled again.

Pressing my hand on the hand sensor I let the elevator door spring open and then guided her forward.

"Shall we?" She paused for a second and then gave a reluctant nod, and both of us entered the elevator together, with her gripping my arm tightly.
