Seraphina Redgrave’s heart skipped a beat, and she sat stiffly on his lap, not daring to move.
"If I fail, can I still survive?"

As night fell, Seraphina wore fitted pajamas and sat at her desk, beginning to flip through law books.
Ethan had two more video conferences, so she didn’t need to return to the bedroom early.
"What’s in that man’s head anyway? Why won’t he let you go?"
Beside the book was a laptop, from which ca Hector Shaw’s frustrated voice.
Seraphina chanically flipped through the book, unable to focus, her mind in turmoil, "Don’t add to my chaos, my mind is already a ss."
Seraphina could only talk to Hector Shaw about her troubles, because only he knew about her relationship with Ethan.
"Sigh, I’m no master of emotions, unfortunately, I can’t help you." Hector sighed.
"However! If you have any other problems..." He said seriously.
"I can solve other problems myself." Seraphina interrupted.
Ugh, worrying so much that her hair might fall out, Hector furrowed his brows.
He wanted to help Seraphina, but couldn’t, as she could solve everything herself, making him feel like an emotionless tool, still and unused.
"Hey, do you think Ethan has fallen for you?" Hector had a sudden idea, then shook his head again, "No, no, who loves like this? His possessiveness is too strong."
Seraphina smiled bitterly, is that really how you love soone?
Recently, Ethan had been even more challenging than before; it seed he wasn’t controlling her, yet it felt she was being controlled more strictly.

Hector switched topics, "How do you view him now? You seem different, before when you talked about him, you only described him objectively as ruthless with imnse power."

Hmm? Seraphina paused montarily, then answered, "I don’t know, but I do know that ever since he blocked an arrow for last ti, I can’t bring myself to hate him."
No matter how domineering or unreasonable Ethan was before her, she could no longer react as fiercely as before.
This wasn’t a good sign.
Hector started chatter again: "If you really find it interesting, why not date him? His conditions aren’t bad, you won’t lose out."
As a fellow man, Hector admitted, Ethan was indeed outstanding, one could say he stood at the pinnacle of this world.
"Do you think it’s ti for romance now?"
Romance with Ethan? She wasn’t crazy.
"If through romance Ethan helps you rebuild Veridian Isle, you wouldn’t be so tired."
Seraphina fell silent, then chuckled, "Hector Shaw, I’m truly curious how you beca the Southern overlord, how could you be so naive?"

Hector closed his mouth, the earlier humor gone from his face.
Of course, he wasn’t naive, those words he only said casually.
Veridian Isle had existed for over a hundred years, a place that swallowed lives without a trace.

No one ever thought of rebuilding Veridian Isle, maybe soone did, but before they could voice it, they were laid to rest in its sands.
The reason the tycoons vehently resisted the rebuilding of Veridian Isle is due to a massive secret hidden within.
Once the secret was discovered, it would be a situation they’d die rather than see.
As the leader of this group of tycoons, Ethan was only concerned with profits and power.
If that day truly cos, if he doesn’t strike Seraphina dead, it’s already considered kind of him, how could he possibly help her?
"If it’s like this, then break it off..." Hector’s voice was soft, but Seraphina heard it clearly.
She remained silent, her gaze shifting to a sugar jar placed nearby.
This was placed there on Ethan’s orders, its candy filled daily, always varied.
"Have you thought of breaking it off?" Hector asked.
Clearly, Seraphina had previously planned to break it off once she settled in Sovereign, but now everything seed different from what she had initially imagined.

Seraphina remained speechless.
"Damn!"
Hector seed to have thought of sothing, suddenly swore, and sat up.
"I figured it out, I know what you’re thinking."
"You’re going to use Selena Quinn!"
"You’ve been refraining from dealing with this woman ultimately for now!"
Hector marveled at Seraphina’s cleverness, what a strategic move.
She once told him that during previous events at the competition venue, two batches of assassins appeared, one likely arranged by Selena Quinn.
Yet, until now, Seraphina had made no move.
She couldn’t be that tolerant; everything was for using her finally.
Seraphina didn’t refute, took a sugar from the jar, and tossed it into her mouth, "Selena Quinn’s love for Ethan is life-sacrificing, truly touching."
"You want Ethan’s attention to shift to Selena Quinn?"
It turns out Seraphina’s plan was this; if Ethan and Selena Quinn did sothing betraying her, wouldn’t that make her leaving logical?
"But now I don’t want to anymore." Seraphina gently shook her head.
"?"
"The reason I thought that way was because I wanted to escape, but now I don’t want to, so I won’t tear open with Ethan."
"So, you now want to use Selena Quinn in other aspects to help you."
Hector continued to add: "Selena Quinn is a deeply calculating woman, I don’t think there’s any man she can’t handle."
Seraphina’s expression returned to sanity, "Selena Quinn loves Ethan deeply, more than I do, willing to lay down her life for him; I ask myself and know I can’t."
"If they can love each other, then I can leave peacefully without tearing faces."
By that ti, she would be free, able to continue pursuing her dreams.
