Su Shiyue wasn’t actually trying to test anything; it was just a subconscious slip when she addressed him that way. Now, hearing Su Mu say this, she chuckled awkwardly,

"I misspoke for a mont. Don’t take it to heart, Sister Su."

Su Mu also smiled,

"Of course not. Where’s Qiqi?"

"She’s sleeping upstairs." ntioning Qiqi softened Shiyue’s expression considerably, "She’s such a dear child. I thought she wouldn’t like , but she has been calling ’Auntie’ since the mont we first t. I was overjoyed; I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy for such a long ti."

Su Mu couldn’t tell if it was just her perception, but she felt that the Shiyue of now was quite different from the one she knew years ago—much more gentle and humble, no longer haughty, resembling an elegant young lady from an honorable family. Not the right ti to ask her reasons.

The old lady was also taking a nap, so Su Mu didn’t want to disturb her. Shiyue seed to notice her hesitation and smiled faintly,

"If you’re waiting for Qiqi, why not go upstairs? You can also keep her company for a while."

"That won’t be necessary. She won’t sleep for long; I’ll just sit downstairs."

Shiyue seed surprised that Su Mu chose to stay, and she smiled lightly before saying,

"Sister Su, I really appreciate you."

"It doesn’t seem like I’ve done anything to earn your gratitude."

"Yes, you have. I thank you for letting Qiqi and my brother acknowledge each other. Although he has never ntioned it, we all understand how important you and the child are to him."

Su Mu paused before responding,

"If it’s for that reason, you needn’t thank . Qiqi likes him, and he is her father, although I don’t want to admit it. It’s still a fact. I just acted according to what Qiqi wanted. If it were up to , I wouldn’t have let them et."

Su Mu’s words took Shiyue aback, but she still smiled,

"You wouldn’t. I think you still have feelings for my brother in your heart."

"No."

"My brother did a lot of despicable things back then. Any woman would hate him to the core, but you? You don’t hate him; instead, you let him acknowledge Qiqi. If this isn’t love, what is? I may not have been in love before, but I understand. You don’t have to pretend with ."

Su Mu chuckled,

"Have you ever hated soone?"

Shiyue was silent for a few seconds before looking at Su Mu with a sowhat unnatural smile, "Would you count?"

"Yes," Su Mu said, "Back then, you really didn’t leave any way out. I could feel your hatred towards ."

"I was just..."

"I know." Su Mu cut her off, "Because you hated , even though I wasn’t in front of you, you couldn’t accept my existence. You’d think about when I’d get what I deserved and constantly, uncontrollably think about what I was doing, waiting for a chance to seek revenge. That’s what hating soone is like. But because I don’t want to rember your brother, I chose not to hate him. I let him leave no trace in my heart, with no past to find. Isn’t that better?"

Shiyue was speechless for a long ti and didn’t snap back to reality until she heard Qiqi’s voice coming from upstairs. Then, Shiyue slowly ca back to her senses.

Su Mu noticed that the clothes on Qiqi had completely changed and were even from top international brands. Although she was willing to invest in Qiqi’s attire, she had no particular ambition other than looking for cute, clean, and safe clothing.

Su Mu glanced at Shiyue,

"Did you buy the clothes for Qiqi?"

It didn’t seem like sothing Fu Shinian would do, as Qiqi had already visited many tis before without him buying clothes, although he had filled up the whole room with dolls and various toys. Now that Shiyue had returned, Qiqi was suddenly in new clothes. It seed to be only Shiyue’s doing.

"Yes, I just adore Qiqi. I didn’t know what I could give her, so I thought that girls probably all like pretty dresses, and I bought so."

"That must have been expensive."

"Not at all. Buying things for Qiqi makes happier than buying for myself."

The old lady was still asleep, so when Su Mu saw Qiqi was awake, she didn’t wait for the old lady to wake up. She didn’t care to see Fu Shinian at all, and she would rather not et him forever.

As Qiqi and Su Mu were leaving, Shiyue seed reluctant, holding Qiqi and walking them to the car before finally letting go. Her hand still couldn’t help but grasp Qiqi’s, showing her true affection for the girl. Su Mu smiled softly, and before she could speak, Qiqi chipped in,

"Auntie, if you miss , co visit anyti, we have each other’s phone numbers, so we can always keep in touch."

Shiyue smiled faintly but didn’t imdiately agree, probably worried that frequent contact with Qiqi would upset Su Mu. So, she turned her gaze to Su Mu, who sensed her look and slowly smiled,

"As Qiqi said, thank you for loving her so much. It makes happy."

Relieved, Shiyue returned the smile,

"Thank you, Sister Su."

Su Mu didn’t say anything further and simply left.

Later, Jiang Bei and Wei Shaoqin arrived at the apartnt, explaining they had been too busy to celebrate her housewarming and had taken the opportunity of having a free day to co over together. Su Mu, of course, didn’t refuse; it had been a long ti since she had seen Jiang Bei and Wei Shaoqin, and she had a lot to discuss with them.

Jiang Bei’s belly was growing bigger, and though her body seed swollen, her face had not put on weight; her palm-sized face still looked thin. Su Mu couldn’t help but comnt on how discriminately she seed to gain weight, and Jiang Bei chuckled,

"You have even more magic in that departnt. I rember during your pregnancy with Qiqi, your body looked as if you weren’t pregnant at all, especially since you ate a lot, didn’t throw up, and still didn’t gain weight."

Su Mu smiled,

"Maybe Qiqi knew how to spare from inside the womb."

"Of course, she did. I’ve never seen such a well-behaved child." Jiang Bei said, looking at Wei Shaoqin and Qiqi playing, "I heard Qiqi has been visiting Fu Shinian’s place a lot recently?"

"Yes," Su Mu replied softly, "Qiqi likes him, and he, the old lady, including Su Shiyue, they all adore Qiqi. There really is no need for to interfere. After all, it’s not a bad thing for another person to love Qiqi."

Jiang Bei nodded,

"I understand, but as Qiqi interacts more with Fu Shinian, won’t it complicate the relationship between you two?"

"It won’t," Su Mu said with a laugh, "I won’t look back."

Perhaps not wanting to dwell on the matter, Su Mu changed the subject. After all, she wasn’t the only one with troubles; Jiang Bei’s past issues were also a concern—though their natures differed. Jiang Bei wouldn’t speak of her own accord, but Su Mu, having seen her, felt compelled to ask.
