Su Mu didn’t insist, after all, she still had a splitting headache even now, smiled faintly, and said, "Okay."
When she saw Yu Qingzhou out, he was very quiet the entire ti, not saying a word, only turning around to ask Su Mu a question before getting into the car. He said, "Wei Shaoqin is such a good person, why doesn’t Miss Su like him?"
This question genuinely stumped Su Mu for a long ti. She didn’t quite understand Yu Qingzhou’s position, but Yu Qingzhou was waiting for an answer, and it wouldn’t be good for Su Mu to keep feeling awkward without responding. She smiled faintly:
"He is good, but when I t him, I already had soone I liked."
"What if he had t you first?"
It really wasn’t appropriate to discuss such personal topics upon a first eting, but Su Mu saw determination in Yu Qingzhou’s eyes, as if he wouldn’t leave without an answer. Since she had already answered the previous questions, she thought it wouldn’t make much difference to answer this one as well, and with a faint smile:
"I still wouldn’t have."
"Why?"
"He’s just not my type."
Yu Qingzhou seed surprised by Su Mu’s reason, stunned for a few seconds before smiling faintly: "I see. Goodbye, Miss Su."
After he spoke, he opened the car door and got in. Su Mu watched his car disappear from sight and still hadn’t co to her senses when the ringing of the telephone woke her. Looking down, to her surprise, it was Wei Shaoqin, the very person she and Yu Qingzhou had just ntioned. Su Mu had never eagerly picked up Wei Shaoqin’s calls before, and as she pressed the answer button, she opened her mouth:
"What’s your relationship with Yu Qingzhou?"
Wei Shaoqin evidently hadn’t expected Su Mu to ask him such a question out of the blue, taking tens of seconds to respond:
"You... How did you know about Yu Qingzhou?"
"Wasn’t it you who told him I have a studio in Jiangcheng City and had him co find ?"
It was as though Wei Shaoqin had received a shock; his voice rose considerably, sounding as if he dropped sothing, the clatter was quite grating on the ears. Before Su Mu could move the phone away from her ear, she heard his voice, astonished beyond belief:
"What? He went looking for you?"
"You didn’t send him?" Su Mu was beginning to find the situation more and more amusing and smiled faintly: "Then what was his purpose in coming, and why did he ask all those strange questions?"
Wei Shaoqin didn’t speak; Su Mu didn’t think he hadn’t heard her but rather didn’t know what to say or even lacked the courage to ask. Although Su Mu wasn’t entirely clear on the situation, she could discern so hints, but before she could tease him, Wei Shaoqin had already hung up the phone.
Su Mu looked at the darkened phone screen and smiled faintly.
It was on the second day that Su Mu returned to Shen City. It seed unremarkable that Fu Shinian would return with her. Once back, she went straight to her new place and although she said there was no need for Fu Shinian to drop her off, she would take a taxi directly from the station, Fu Shinian still followed her in his car right to her building’s entrance.
The whole way back to Shen City, Su Mu didn’t say a word to Fu Shinian. She really didn’t want to bring anything up, as she had said all that should and shouldn’t have been said, and there was nothing left to discuss between them. However, she hadn’t expected that Fu Shinian could be so clueless, following her to the entrance of the building and even getting out of the car, seemingly regardless of whether she would want him to co upstairs with her.
Su Mu sensed footsteps behind her and stopped, turning around to say sothing to Fu Shinian when a car slowly pulled up beside her. She recognized it—it was Wen Han’s car. Fu Shinian also followed Su Mu’s gaze and then raised his eyebrows.
Wen Han got out of the car, saw Fu Shinian and remarked nonchalantly with a slight nod by way of greeting, then without a word, he approached Su Mu:
"Couldn’t fetch you from work because of a eting, are you tired?"
Su Mu smiled and shook her head, while Qiqi sweetly called out "Uncle Wen," but after this address, her gaze fell upon Fu Shinian, her expression careful as though worried that Fu Shinian might be upset. However, Fu Shinian didn’t take it to heart. He smiled faintly and waved to Qiqi:
"I’ve got sothing to attend to, I’ll leave first."
Su Mu had expected him to say sothing unpleasant or to look for trouble with Wen Han, but surprisingly, he was sensible, which made her inadvertently give him a look. Unfortunately, this look caused Wen Han to fix his gaze on her face, and he didn’t look away until Fu Shinian had left, only breaking contact when Su Mu ca to her senses.
Su Mu laughed a bit awkwardly:
"Why are you looking at like that?"
Wen Han smiled too, but his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes: "It’s nothing, let’s go upstairs."
It was Wen Han’s first ti visiting Su Mu’s new ho, so he couldn’t help but walk around to take a look. Qiqi was also very happy with her new room, bouncing around inside and not coming out. It was also the first ti Su Mu was officially moving in, so many things were not yet in place. Wen Han sat on the sofa while Su Mu went to the kitchen:
"It seems there’s nothing else in the house, I’m going to boil so water."
"Okay."
Su Mu went to the kitchen, intending to grab the iced water she had previously stored there, only to find the fridge unexpectedly stuffed with ingredients. She did not recall having done anything like this and began to suspect that Wen Han, who was sitting in the living room, might have been responsible. However, after thinking it over, she realized that this couldn’t be—he was visiting for the first ti, and until she gave him the address today, he didn’t even know where she had moved to.
The only possibility then...
Unbeknownst to her, Wen Han had walked up behind her. He looked at the fridge full of ingredients and smiled faintly. Without saying much, he picked up an item, checked its expiration date, and said:
"Today’s date."
Su Mu turned to look at Wen Han:
"I don’t know who did this, I haven’t given my keys to anyone, I really..."
"You don’t need to explain," Wen Han stated, looking at Su Mu. "I know all about it."
After these words, Wen Han went back to the living room, but Su Mu felt as if she were suffocating, unable to let out the breath she was holding. She wasn’t unaware of who it was; she just couldn’t say who. Just like the incidents that had occurred between her and Fu Shinian in Jiangcheng City, based on their previous interactions, Su Mu would have definitely told Wen Han, but things were different now. After Wen Han had just gone through the loss of his father, Su Mu just couldn’t bring herself to bother him with these vexing matters.
So, she could only repress her feelings.
Placing the hot water in front of Wen Han, he drew back his gaze from the window and smiled faintly:
"You didn’t tell that Fu Shinian also went to Jiangcheng City this ti."
Su Mu looked at Wen Han:
"I didn’t expect him to follow either. By the ti I realized it, he had already boarded the train."
"You could have told ."
