When Wei Shaoqin heard noise from downstairs, Su Mu had already slashed her wrists, blood flowing from her palms down her fingers, ultimately dripping drop by drop onto the shiny floor. She stood there watching as Wei Shaoqin approached step by step, neither fleeing nor fearing, with a hint of triumph twinkling in her eyes.

Standing in front of Su Mu, Wei Shaoqin took hold of her bleeding arm to examine it:

"Are you trying to force ?"

"Wei Shao can consider it self-defense on my part."

"If it’s self-defense, why didn’t you cut deeper? The bleeding might stop before I finish you, and you may not faint." After saying that, he let go of Su Mu’s hand and imdiately tore a piece off his white T-shirt, roughly wrapping it around her wrist despite her objections, watching as the white slowly soaked up the red.

Su Mu watched him remove his torn T-shirt and casually throw it onto the bloodstained floor: "Does Wei Shao have a fetish for female corpses?"

Wei Shaoqin looked up at her with a dangerously charming smile, appearing even more unpredictable and dangerous after seeing blood:

"I’m not interested in other won, but I wouldn’t mind giving it a try with you."

Saying that, he picked up Su Mu despite her resistance and strode upstairs.

Su Mu, having skipped dinner and lost quite a bit of blood, was feeling extrely dizzy. Thrown onto the large bed by Wei Shaoqin, she would have fainted imdiately if not for the fear of the dangerous wolf beside her. As she struggled trying to get up, Wei Shaoqin pinned her down, one hand clenching her chin, forcing her to look at him:

"Su Mu, let teach you a lesson today. When a man doesn’t love a woman but still wants her, he won’t care whether she’s alive or dead."

Had she oversimplified things by thinking that harming herself would lead Wei Shaoqin to lose interest? Seeing him now, there was clearly no effect. Had she known the outco would be the sa, she should have made a more decisive, deeper cut. She would rather die than do sothing that would betray Fu Shinian.

Su Mu, furious, gathered all her strength and fiercely slapped Wei Shaoqin across the face, turning his head. He only licked the side of the mouth that got hit and then chuckled lightly:

"You are the first woman who dares to lay a hand on , so don’t bla for not being nice!"

Wei Shaoqin directly tore open the shirt on Su Mu’s body, eyeing her smooth, unexpectedly beautiful body, he couldn’t help swallowing, but he couldn’t ignore the purple and blue marks on her body, on her chest, abdon, waist, clearly showing she had been fiercely loved before.

"Next, you tell , between your boyfriend and , which one makes you feel better."

Wei Shaoqin started to undo Su Mu’s jeans, but when pulling the zipper, he realized sothing was wrong. Su Mu, who had been violently resisting until now, suddenly was lifeless. When he looked up, he found she had unwrapped the bandage on her wrist and was forcefully prying the wound open with her fingers, and the pristine white sheets were already drenched in red.

"Shit!"

Su Mu’s mother had already been taken into surgery, and Jiang Bei was sitting on the long bench, never leaving. He hadn’t given Fu Shinian and Qiao Yu a straight look, had called Su Mu several tis, and all calls went straight to voicemail, which left him sowhat uneasy.

Fu Shinian and Qiao Yu went to the smoking area in the ergency stairwell. Fu Shinian lit a cigarette, and Qiao Yu looked at him:

"You’ve been smoking more and more lately. Be careful of lung cancer."

Fu Shinian glanced at him coolly:

"You’ve been more and more like a woman lately."

Qiao Yu: "..."

Even if his brother was sharp-tongued, he had to endure it.

"Why didn’t Su Mu co over when her mother is having surgery?"

Fu Shinian took a drag on his cigarette and said flatly, "Can’t get through on her phone."

On the way to the hospital, he had also tried calling Su Mu, encountering the sa result as everyone else: her phone was off.

"Can’t get through? Could she be in so kind of trouble?"

Fu Shinian suddenly thought of the ti Su Mu was robbed, but considering the possibility of her being in trouble was minimal, especially since she knew it was Su Shiyue who moved against her. Her sense of security had only strengthened and wouldn’t allow for such incidents anymore, not to ntion, Su Shiyue wouldn’t have the courage to touch her again.

Fu Shinian didn’t respond, and Qiao Yu didn’t pursue the topic further. Sothing crossed his mind, and he smiled:

"Why did you sign the consent form earlier?"

Fu Shinian looked up at him:

"What do you an?"

"As far as I know, you have never thought of Su Mu as part of your family. Married for two years, you’ve never visited your mother-in-law once. I was quite surprised by your actions today."

"What else could I do? Watch as Su Mu’s mother dies because she couldn’t have the surgery, or let Jiang Bei, a stranger, sign the consent?" Fu Shinian spoke indifferently, devoid of emotion: "Anyway, Su Mu is legally my wife. She once saved the old lady’s life. Both emotionally and logically, it was the right thing to do."

Qiao Yu opened his mouth wishing to say sothing, but ultimately he remained silent.

The mont the phone rang, Fu Shinian almost imdiately grabbed his phone. However, he frowned when he saw the caller ID. Qiao Yu saw his expression clearly. If he guessed right, Fu Shinian thought it was Su Mu calling, but it turned out to be Qin Nianwan. Seeing him inclined not to answer, Qiao Yu laughed:

"A few days ago, you and Qin Nianwan were inseparable in front of the dia, but I haven’t seen any news about you two recently."

"The old lady knows now; to avoid worrying her, it’s better to lay low for a few days. Anyway, we’ve achieved our goal."

Qiao Yu nodded:

"So, this call, are you going to take it or not?"

Fu Shinian thought for a mont, and just as the call was about to disconnect, he eventually pressed the answer button and walked downstairs.

It was at this mont that Jiang Bei pushed open the door to the ergency stairs and ca over, seeing only Qiao Yu alone, he frowned discontentedly:

"Where is Fu Shinian?"

"He went to make a call, Doctor Jiang, is there sothing you need?"

"Can you not smile so sleazily every ti you see ? You’re a doctor yourself. Even if you don’t care about your own image, consider the other angels in white, alright?"

Qiao Yu: "..."

When had he ever smiled sleazily? Patients and their families always thought he was quite pleasant.

But Qiao Yu probably didn’t know that Jiang Bei simply disliked him, which was why he found him unpleasant to look at everywhere, and since he was good friends with Fu Shinian, he never showed any good grace. Even strengths could be seen as flaws, but actually, it had nothing to do with him personally.

Fu Shinian hadn’t gone far, so Jiang Bei could hear his phone conversation loud and clear. Although she didn’t interact much with Fu Shinian, she knew what he was like towards Su Mu; that tender voice must’ve been for his ex who had just returned to the country. What sin had Su Mu committed to fall for such scum?

When Fu Shinian ended the call and walked back upstairs, what t him was Jiang Bei’s glaring eyes, but he felt nothing and instead smiled:

"Do I have a feud with Doctor Jiang?"

"I’m not as unlucky as Su Mu to have crossed paths with you."

Fu Shinian nodded, "Then, does Doctor Jiang need for sothing?"

"I can’t get through to Su Mu’s phone, this has never happened before, and I suspect she might be in danger."

"She’s no longer a child, and we are in a society ruled by law, what danger could there be?"

Fu Shinian’s indifferent and uncaring deanor finally triggered Jiang Bei’s protective instinct towards Su Mu. She had to use all her strength to convince herself not to rush up and fiercely punch Fu Shinian in the face as she coldly looked at him:

"You’re still Su Mu’s husband, regardless. Now she’s missing, and you’re here simply saying we live in a law-abiding society? Are you going to entrust her personal safety entirely to the slim chance of societal odds? If society is as safe as you say, why are there still so many criminals in prison? And even if what you say is correct, what about accidents? Can you guarantee that during the ti we can’t contact her, she hasn’t been robbed? Hasn’t been hit by a car? Hasn’t been kidnapped?"

Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds, but only those who truly understood him knew that he had actually considered the possibilities Jiang Bei ntioned, yet his next words were still so rciless:

"Not many people know about my relationship with her. Do you think Su Mu has any value that would make soone go to great lengths to kidnap her? But since Doctor Jiang is so worried about her, why don’t you go out and look for her? If you find her, as Su Mu’s husband, I will sincerely thank you."

"Fu Shinian, you are such a jerk! Su Mu must have been blind to have fallen for you!"

Fu Shinian smiled slightly:

"I hope her vision recovers soon."

"You..."

Qiao Yu felt he had to say sothing now, or he couldn’t guarantee that Jiang Bei wouldn’t jump up and punch Fu Shinian, as even he found Fu Shinian’s words incredibly irritating!

"Doctor Jiang, calm down; Shinian didn’t an it like that. He’s already sent people out to look for her. Actually, he does care about Su Mu."

Fu Shinian: "When did I send people out to look for her? If she wants to co back, doesn’t she have legs? Or is she too foolish to rember the way ho?"

Qiao Yu was frantic:

"Can you just shut up?"

Fu Shinian snorted:

"No."

Jiang Bei was too tired to stay and listen to Fu Shinian’s inane remarks. Rather than wasting her ti on him, she would rather go to the police for help. Depending on soone like Fu Shinian, Su Mu might very well end up a corpse! Watching Jiang Bei leave furiously, Qiao Yu, enraged, pointed at Fu Shinian and exclaid:

"You, you said it yourself, how could soone like you even have a wife? Jiang Bei’s right, Su Mu must have been blind to fall for you!"

"Make an appointnt for her with the ophthalmologist tomorrow, if she even knows how to co back that is!"

Qiao Yu: "..."
