Chapter 479: Grinding Berserkers
When they arrived at the 87th floor, the people inside turned to look at them briefly—they were checking out their competition.
“…”
Kiernan ignored the glances and sat on one of the empty chairs—Joanna sat right next to him—it was as if she was thinking they were close now.
‘I wonder what questions they have in mind.’
Kiernan thought to himself.
“Ah~ I am so nervous. I hope I don’t ss this up.”
Joanna spoke to herself, blabbering around, and nervously fidgeted with her fingers.
“Calm down. It’s not a job interview.”
Kiernan said.
“In a sense, it is a job interview. If I manage to impress one of the general managers, I might be recruited into one of their youth programs.
“That could open my doors to join their team officially in the future!”
Joanna said nervously.
‘I doubt they’re looking for soone from a tier 5 country. It’s even lower than New Rakuya, and it’s already considered a very weak country.’
Kiernan thought to himself, but he didn’t want to break this stranger’s dreams.
‘She made it through the Zero Event against tier four and three participants, so there must be sothing special about her at least.
‘I don’t know what Zero Event they had to do, but I can’t imagine it was easy.’
Kiernan thought to himself.
The door at the end opened and closed—a disheartened young man walked out, looking like he was holding back tears, and went straight to the elevator.
With a ding, the elevator’s doors closed, and he disappeared from view.
“It must not have gone well. Oh man, and he was a tier three representative…”
Joanna nervously nibbled at her nails.
At that mont, the door opened, and surprisingly, the pointed-eared girl walked out, looking at everyone there.
She was gorgeous-looking and made the young n’s hearts flutter—the young won felt self-conscious about their looks now—she was an elf!
‘An elf… I’ve only seen one elf before.’
“Kiernan Hunter… Are you here?”
She asked and looked around.
“Here!”
Kiernan stood up and walked to her—the eyes of everyone following him—and the girl just stared at him.
“What a beautiful soul…”
She said, her words trailing at the end, and her cheeks blushed pink—the eyes of hers sparkling with admiration.
‘She is looking at my chest…’
Kiernan frowned and lowered his gaze at his chest—it felt like she was staring a hole through his chest—as she was clearly looking for sothing deeper inside him.
“Ah… I am sorry, please enter!”
She opened the door to him, and as he stepped through, she quickly followed, and they entered a room with thirteen people seated behind a long table.
Their eyes—the greatest talent-seeking eyes in the world—looked at Kiernan with the intensity of a thousand suns.
“Mm~”
The elf girl sat at the corner and said.
“We have Kiernan Hunter with us today, and I give him the score of… a perfect ten!”
“What?!”
The general managers looked at the giggling elf—she had been pretty dull and emotionless during the entire day—but now she was giggling and blushing.
It was a very weird change!
‘The elves sure are weird.’
Kiernan frowned.
“Elariel here has a special eye—Soul Eye—that allows her to peek into the souls of others and see their purity.
“It’s sothing that every elf has, and… it’s sothing that can affect her personality.”
The general manager of Old Guard, Izen, said with his fingers laced, looking with interest at Kiernan.
He was the first person to receive a perfect ten score from Elariel—it was sothing that only tier one and zero representatives should get.
“We’ve general managers of World Fighting League’s teams here today—Royal Murder, Bastardians, Berserk Grind, Rexi-Da-rci, Godspeed Monarchy, Old Guard, Lion Hunt, Madder, Wunderkind, Rakudan Gang, D.x.D, Macarena, and LeVi.”
Gaspard of Royal Murder said, and crossed his legs.
“We’ve got so questions for you, if that is alright?”
“Yes…”
Kiernan nodded.
“Good… Who wants to ask the first question?”
Gaspard looked around the table.
This ti around, the general managers were more inclined to ask questions—after all, Elariel wasn’t giving perfect ten scores just to anyone.
It ant that Kiernan’s soul must be really gorgeous to look at!
In the previous interviews, they barely asked any questions—so of the interviewed ones didn’t receive a single question, and most received only one.
It ant if the number of questions was low, the general managers were most likely not interested in them.
“I have a question.”
The general manager of Madder, a light-skinned man with a thick, black beard, spoke up.
“My na is Tomb, and I have been the general manager of Madder for about three years now—we’ve been in the rebuilding phase for the several years now, and we’re investing heavily in the future.
“A question I have is—your martial arts… what is it?”
Tomb asked, and leaned back.
The elf girl’s eyes kept looking at Kiernan, and it was a question that she also wanted an answer to—the quality of the soul was highly dependent on one’s martial souls.
“Iron Style.”
Kiernan said.
“Iron Style—do you know its creator and who taught you that?”
Tomb asked.
“Yes, I know, the creator is . I created this style and every technique within it.”
Kiernan said.
The general managers raised an eyebrow, but in the end, they also weren’t that surprised—the best quality of martial souls usually belonged to the people that have their own martial arts path.
“If soone is using soone else’s martial arts, it ans that they are usually following soone else’s path.
“To forge your own path in the Martial Arts Pathway, creating your own style is a must, and the younger you do that, the better.
“Which is why we’re heavily investing in the younger generation, as we want to recruit the best talents and make them create their own style.
“However, creating your own style is not easy. It sotis takes decades. You, on the other hand, have clearly succeeded based on the quality of your martial soul.
“Impressive.”
Tomb said, and looked at Kiernan intensely.
“I have a question.”
At that mont, everyone’s eyes turned to the man, who had dirty blond hair that resembled the shade of beer and a cocky grin that never seed to leave his face.
“I am Axxa, and I am the general manager of Berserk Grind. I do have a small question for you here…”
Axxa said with a grin.
‘Berserk Grind. I rember back in the boarding school that the Big Three of the World Fighting League are Royal Murder, Berserk Grind, and Godspeed Monarchy.’
Kiernan thought and wondered what kind of question the man had for him.
