All eyes were on him and the rest of the students were mumbling amongst themselves, all of them knew Ethan was going to lose, each of the girls in the group belonged to a noble family so even if they were just taking the test for the academy most of them had been taught high-level spells by their family and each of them would do anything to pass so their family would not be disgraced.
Ethan who was the only commoner was going to be crushed first and then the girls would battle themselves, for Ethan there was only one realistic plan for him, and that was to avoid combat and run to the finish line.
"The first group is complete, I’m going to assign the rest of you, and since we have an extra 4 students, 4 groups would have an extra one participant"
After so minutes the selection was over and all the students were assigned to a different group, there were 20 groups altogether, aning if 5 students passed from each of the groups, there would be 100 new students but that was practically impossible.
"One more piece of advice, if you think you can avoid combat and run towards the finish line, then I hope you can stay running for a few hours"
"I personally tested the race by running towards the finish line at full speed and I arrived in 30 minutes, mind you I was extrely fast, so instructors tried but none of them could beat my record, so for you new students it would take half a day running at full speed to reach the finish line, so good luck"
(Maybe you should quit, it seems that woman is out to get you, even with your stamina you can’t keep running at full speed for 12 hours, and in this group, most of these girls would definitely be faster than you)
’That’s still not a reason to quit, I just have to stay away from combat, and I’m going to buy barrier spells to protect myself, I just hope I don’t have to fight off the lightning girl’ Ethan muttered as he looked at her.
Her white hair shone brightly as she stood with her head facing forward, she was listening to what the instructor was saying without paying attention to what was happening around her, to Ethan she looked like a robot.

"Good, open it" she muttered to the person beside her who opened a portal and Ethan’s group was the first to move in with Ethan at the back of the group again.
All ten of them appeared in a field covered in grass, in front of them was a forest filled with tall trees and from where they stood they could see a green light from afar but they could not proceed forward so each of them stood still waiting for the go signal.

Since the last task he completed already awarded him with the first sensory spell, Ethan bought the simple barrier, heightened sense, and advanced barrier but Hal told him not to buy the danger sense.
’Why shouldn’t I buy the danger sense, it’s obviously a good spell?’
(First let explain, the simple barrier requires a small amount of Mana and takes less than 2 seconds making it easy to use but it’s weak, but the advanced barrier takes longer and more Mana but it’s better, and in this sense sensory spell is different than other spells)
(For others who learn magic, it’s fairly easy to use the danger sense and heightened sense like a passive skill because they practice for a long ti before acquiring the spell, and after acquiring the spell they work on it to upgrade it but yours is different)
(Since you get your spells from the system, you have no idea what amount of hard work you have to put in to learn them, to use the danger sense you have to be able to control your heightened sense and make it a passive spell that you don’t need to activate)

(Exactly, if you can do that then you are ready to use the danger sense, but this is just an advice, you can buy the spell and work on learning both of them at once)

(Good then let explain, the heightened sense is like the fla cloak, it consus Mana but it increases all your senses in case of an attack from behind or an ambush, you can be able to sll, track, and hear even the faintest of noise)
’But if it consus Mana then I won’t be able to maintain it, but if I’m hunting then I can maintain it by holding my sword’
(Yes but that’s not a permanent solution because once you get distracted the spell turns itself off, you’ll have to be able to handle distraction and talking to other people while concentrating on the spell)

"Since you are all ready" a voice spoke.
"The finish line is the green light over there, and pay attention to your surroundings as you were told before, all you have to do is run to the finish line, good luck, you’ll be able to move forward in three, two, one...go"
