Aie lowered her gaze, and she smiled dejectedly. "I will tell you the truth, Your Highness. After I graduated from the academy last year, I didn’t have any goals. No matter how much I studied and had a lot of knowledge, my father would never let work. My dream was to beco a teacher, but my father turned it down. And a few months ago, my father planned to marry off to a son of a Duke.
"At that mont, my hope to build a school and beco a teacher had shattered. I also tried to run away to prove to my parents that I could live without a title. Then, Kael helped to negotiate with my parents. I would co back ho on the condition that they would not marry off again.
"For , if I can’t do the job I want, then at least I want to marry the man I love. However, until now I hadn’t found that particular man. All the n I t were completely unreliable. They always showed their disinterest when I expressed my desire to work after marriage.
"Then, the talk about marriage ca back. I refused, but this ti, my father didn’t want to back down. He gave a condition ... If I can find a job, it’s okay for not to get married. However, if I don’t find a job before my birthday, then I have to marry the man my parents chose.
"So I ca here to accept the job that His Majesty the King offered... to avoid the marriage that my father had set."
Arielle nodded in understanding. Aie seed to be soone with a free spirit. She didn’t want to be tied down by other people. She lived by her own rules.
"I’m sorry, Your Highness, but I’m not a free-spirited person," Aie continued with a small laugh. Arielle blinked in surprise because Aie could understand what she had just thought.
"No-no... I can’t read people’s minds. It’s just ... your expression is very easy to read," she continued, looking at the princess who looked so innocent.
"Ah, I’m sorry," Arielle replied while covering her blushing face, making Aie chuckle.
"You don’t need to apologize, Your Highness."
"Er... then... What about your desire to beco a teacher? Are you okay with being my personal assistant?"
Aie nodded confidently. "Whatever it is, I will do it as long as I can avoid the marriage that my father had set."
"Miss Aie, I am very grateful for your answer. However, before that, I want to say that I am not soone who has much knowledge. I... am still learning from the very basics right now, so maybe in the future I might trouble you a lot."
Aie smiled. "I’ve heard a lot about you from Kael. You don’t have to worry. Isn’t it my job to help you?" she asked, making Arielle smile in relief.
"Thank you very much, Miss Aie."
Arielle reached for the porcelain teapot in front of her to pour tea for Aie.
"Let do it, Your Highness," Aie said. She approached Arielle so that the princess would not have to bother pouring her the tea.
"No need, Miss Aie. At least this way I can get closer to my new friend," Arielle said, making Aie silent in her place.
"Friend?" the girl asked in confusion.
Arielle chuckled, seeing Aie’s confused face. She poured tea and gave it to Aie.
"We will be together in the future. So, I prefer to think of the people around as my friends. Because having friends is fun," Arielle replied, making Aie’s heart beat faster.
Aie was quite skeptical when Kael said that almost no one could hate the princess. She had thought that Arielle was just a spoiled royal princess who could only trouble her in the future.
However, when she first saw the princess’ smile, Aie imdiately knew that she was different. There was a level of sincerity that ordinary people didn’t have, and Aie was imdiately convinced that she liked the princess.
The girl had a high enthusiasm for learning new things, and Aie liked people who liked to learn.
Aie really didn’t think she would like soone so quickly. She had wondered how long it would take to get used to the princess. The girl took a sip of her tea with a smile, feeling touched because on the first day they t, the princess had considered her as a friend.
After talking about her goals, Aie talked about a lot of things with Arielle so they could get to know each other. She could see that the princess was a passive person, so she listened to Kael’s suggestion to always take the initiative.
And as ti went on, Arielle had to return to et Ronan. It was ti for the man to have lunch and see the doctor again.
Arielle escorted Miss Aie to the front of the Whitethorn Palace.
"Miss Aie, thank you very much for your answer. I will tell this good news to His Majesty the King."
"With pleasure, Your Highness. Then, I bid my goodbye."
Aie gave a curtsy to Arielle, then she left while wearing the hood of her coat because the snow had fallen again. Arielle looked up at the sky. It was dark, although it was still noon. It seed, in the next few days there would be an extre blizzard, she thought.
After she saw Aie get in the carriage, Arielle turned towards the Blackthorn Palace. She was surprised to see Lazarus, who suddenly appeared in front of her with breathless gasps.
"Lazarus?"
"Where is Aie?" he asked hastily.
"She just got ho. Where are you from? Didn’t you want to et her in the waiting room?"
Lazarus groaned in annoyance.
"I was dragged by Kael, so I couldn’t et Aie!" The answer made Arielle silent.
Arielle had also heard from Aie that she didn’t want to et Lazarus so Arielle was a little relieved that Aie had returned before Lazarus arrived.
Well... she couldn’t do anything for that matter....
