Max felt his vision blurring and his body suspended in a strange plane. It was a strange place, filled with nothing but vast darkness.

Before he could make out what was happening, his vision restored and he dropped onto sothing soft and comfortable.

Sadly, the deep gash on his back brought more pain than actual comfort. He suppressed his groan and looked around to see where the Talisman had thrown him.

"Ara! How did you get that wound?"

Hearing the familiar, surprised voice of Harley, Max relaxed and said, "Can you...heal first?"

Harley turned the lights on and ca towards him. They were in the sa room where they had made the deal, but Harley had changed her attire to a simple black gown.

She frowned lightly when she finally noticed how deep the wound actually was. She could even see bones peeking past his twisted muscles and flesh.

The surrounding shadows stirred under her frown, but returned to normal when Harley did not voice anything.

Harley sighed and took out a dark green potion. She poured it on his back, making him cry out in pain and agony. She half-expected him to complain but he actually endured it.

A smile ford on her lips as she poured the potion properly all over the gash and watched it heal at a visible rate.

In just under ten seconds, flesh reford, muscles connected again, and the wound healed completely, leaving behind a terrible diagonal scar running from his right shoulder to his waist.

All of a sudden, Max stopped whimpering and realised that the pain was completely gone. He blinked and then jumped to his feet, sending a jolt of current throughout his body.

"Rest easy, boy! That attack you received had almost severed your spine, so don’t move around that much. Also, how did you even get that gash all of a sudden?" Harley asked as she went to sit on another sofa.

Instead of replying to her, Max first checked himself once more and also checked his status. Only then did he sigh in relief and bow towards Harley.

"Thank you, Miss Harley! I don’t know the exact Tier but I can guess it’s at least Tier 4 if it healed such a deep wound so quickly, so thank you!"

"I did say I will take care of you in every way so this is just a part of our deal. Don’t fret over it and just tell the juicy details." Harley motioned with her hand towards the sofa.

Max stared at her for a mont and then sat on the sofa. His mind replayed the mont he had received that attack for Aurora, making him shiver all over his body.

’Big Sis! Remind to not do such a stupid thing again.’

[Depends but sure!]

Max ignored her and focused on Harley, wondering how much he should tell her. There was no way he could tell the whole truth, after all.

He sighed and said, "I went to the Ashborn Clan."

Harley raised an eyebrow and asked, "You went to see their destruction?"

Unsurprised by her information on the affairs of Ashborn Clan destruction, he nodded and said, "Yes, I don’t want to tell you the details because it is sothing personal."

Harley stared at him for a mont and then nodded, "Alright! I won’t ask you the details then. Just tell if I need to handle anything."

"You aren’t curious or you know it already?" Max asked.

Harley grinned at that and said, "Fufu! Let’s not go into that and focus on you. Did you disclose your identity?"

Touching the black and red piece of cloth on his throat, Max smiled and said, "My identity is safe, so don’t worry. You don’t need to clean anything. Besides, I’m sure you would like to use this chaos as a ladder."

"I will see to that. Anyway, you should rest here for the night because I’m sure the Hunter Organisation will issue an investigation and have every Hunter in the city interrogated." Harley smiled. "You can just say you spent the night with ."

"Miss Harley, are you sure you want to speak those words to the world?" Max asked with the sa smile.

"Sure, if you have the guts to shoulder the responsibility it will bring—or maybe I should say, the danger," Harley winked at him and said. "Though, the offer is for real. This beautiful Big Sis needs soone to warm her bed."

’Lies, you virgin beautiful lady,’ Max’s lips twitched hearing that as he responded, "While I’m tempted, I will have to refuse. This Maxwell is also true to his word and will never sleep with anyone other than his lovers."

"Lovers, huh. I sense so ambitions there," Harley chuckled and stood up. "Fine! If you want to refuse the once-in-a-lifeti offer, then so be it. You can sleep all alone, Mr. Oathbound!"

"Here? How am I going to sleep here?" Max asked in confusion.

"There’s a button under your sofa. Just press it and the entrance to the side room will open. Have a nice night there!"

Saying that, she began to walk towards the door, making Max wonder if she was going to walk around in that nightgown of hers. While it was simple, her sexy figure made it anything but simple.

She turned around before leaving and said, "Also, stop with that formal addressing. You can just call Big Sis or just Harley."

"As you say, Harley," Max waved his hand, knowing damn well that Kafka would take her revenge if called soone else Big Sis.

Seeing the door closing, Max sighed and touched the button she had ntioned, making the painting behind the sofa shift. It opened an entrance leading to a different room.

[Do you think she wanted to climb on your bed?]

’Hell no! She was just joking. If I had agreed, then I would be a dickless man by now,’ Max said, still shivering just from that thought.

[Oh, that makes sense. I’m still wondering why she is doing all of this though?]

’Probably so of her ulterior motives. Anyways, I need to clean up and take a bath.’

Outside of his room, in the dark narrow corridor, Harley’s heels landed on the carpet without making any noise.

Shadows around her grew darker as a figure materialized behind her.
